YAY!! The wedding is over and things are starting to go back to normal...which means time for the After wedding journal.
We got all our thank yous written and now are paying off some thing with the money we received as gifts. I finished all the laundry and now I"m working on getting the house cleaned and the decorations and stuff put away.
I am actually really relieved to have it done and over with. I love being married and the wedding went great. But it feels good to get set into a routine and move on with life.
I have slowly started the name change process. Bank account is done, car/rent insurance is combined and done. I started to fill out the paperwork for my ssn, driver's license, and vehicle registration. Everything else has to wait since I either need my license or new ss card to change my name.
Tomorrow it's back to work. I am NOT looking forward to it. I love my job, but don't like the people I work for. So that makes my job more stressful then it needs to be. I heard a lot of stuff happened while I was gone, and most people are very unhappy with things now. Really makes you want to hurry back.
Oh and of course President Bush is coming to town on Thursday. Yeah, that just makes that day one that I wish I could vanish for. Never work in a 911 center when someone important comes to town. It is CRAZY.
Steve went back to work tonight. As most of you know, we didn't live together before getting married, so this is an adjustment for me to have him here all the time. It will actually be nice to get a nights sleep by myself. I am a light sleeper and he snores. So it's taken so work to get to sleep some times so far.

Hey Nikki, I'm so glad to hear things are going well! I'm sorry you have to go to work tommorrow. That's kinda crummy. But, atleast everything is getting settled and you and Steve are getting into a routine.
I hope your name change stuff goes well. It's was a bit of a nightmare for me becase they required a copy of the marriage certificate from the office of the registar. But i couldn't get that until 3 months later. :snide: Finally everything is taken care of.
I totally understand what you mean about DH snorring. Mark snores and it's very annoying when i am trying to get to sleep. I find if i just rub his chest or stroke his cheek he'll stop for a bit. Or if i can get him to roll onto his side he will stop long enough that i can doze off. Good Luck with it! Eventually you will get accustom to how he sleeps and it will be weird not to have him there.
Take Care hun! have a good day tommorrow and Good Luck with Bush being in town on Thursday!

Nikki, you are just too gosh darned organized. Already done with your thank yous? tee hee. Glad things are settling down for you. Sorry about the job situation. I actually have the opposite problem. I love the people I work for/with, I just hate my job. I hope things improve on that front!

Nikki, you are just too gosh darned organized.
I am really organized. It drives DH insane sometimes because I have lists for EVERYTHING!
Today I got all the forms filled out for ss, drivers license and the registration change. Just have to mail in/drop off the forms. Stopped at the bank and finished changing around the vehicle information. Went to the courthouse (I work for the county) and picked up all the forms I need to change my name. Those are filled out and Steve will drop them off for me tomorrow.
Work is going to be even crazier tomorrow. Now, not only is the president coming, but in the morning the school is having a shooting drill. So, all the police, fire, and ems groups will be involved. I was told I will be running that show on the dispatch end....yay? I'm glad my bosses have so much faith in me, I just wish they wouldn't have sprung this on me the day before! I spend most of the day making phone calls and getting all that set up. On Friday I'll have to type up a review and suggest any changes that should be made. Not looking forward to that. Management tends to ask for our opinion and then bash everything we come up with.
Oh and after this afternoon's volleyball practice, I've decided to sell my children when they reach the age of 12. OMG, I'm going to strangle half the team soon. Good thing the season is over in another 2 weeks.

Boy you are organized. I haven't even changed my drivers license yet and we have been married since May. I will probably wait till it is time to renew them in 2008. haha.
If you find a buyer let me know, we have three adorable kids ranging in age from 7 - 16. :) JK

Had a message from the photographer today when I got home from work. Our proofs are done!! Now to just find the money so we can pick them up. There is some money left in the wedding bank account but I don't think enough. ARG! I want to see them. We don't want to use the credit card for them, but I don't know if I can wait long enough for our next pay check.
Work week is done. YAY! Of course Steve works 7-7 through Monday. Lots of time to put the house back together, right? Now to get myself motivated to do it. I just don't know what to do with a lot of the stuff sitting in the living room/dining room. That's the room that has the most stuff in it.
Steve wants to have his family to our house this year for thanksgiving. That's fine with me if 1. someone else cooks (I don't trust my no-existant skills!) and 2. if I can get off of work. The last three years I've had to work on Thanksgiving. I've registed off, but no one wanted to work the shift. I miss spending time with my family. I could call off sick that day, but I feel bad if anyone else gets stuck having to cover my shift. Not sure what to do.
So that's about all that's going on right now. Nothing too exciting.

Talked to my mom today and there is on $150 left in the wedding account. We owe just over $300 on the photographer yet. I have no clue where we are going to get the rest of the money from. We didn't have any of the money stresses with this wedding until now, when I want my pics! Grr. I hate to have to put it on the credit card, but I don't think we have much of a choice.
I'm being kinda lazy today. I did do two load of laundry and straighten up the laundry room. There is still a lot of work to get done around here though. Yes well. I deserve a day to sit around and watch stupid movies on LMN.

We decided to just put the photos on the credit cards. Neither of us have the patience to wait and gather enough money. We want to see them! Besides, we need to get the ones we want to order in to the photographer so we have them by christmas. I think that's what we will give our parents as a gift this year. Hopefully I can start loading the professional pics on the computer this week.
Tomorrow is a busy day for us. Go to the photographer, go to the ss office to get my name changed, stop at the pet store, go to the insurance place to sign the last of the paper work. Then, if there's time, we want to go to BB&B to spend out gift cards and drop my papers for work off at the courthouse. Not to mention we have volleyball practice at 3pm.

Another reason we decided to just pick up the pics is cause we will see a lot of the family this weekend. Saturday we are going to see my sister perform with her college marching band. My parents and a few family friends will be there too. Then that night we make the 3 1/2 hour trip to NY to see DH's aunts and uncles. They are having a surprise 80th birthday party for one of his uncles (I never realized he was that old. He looks and acts so much younger.) So we of course will see a lot of family there. We'll be able to get an idea what picks our parents like for their gifts so that's good.

YAY! Pictures are coming soon!
Sounds like you've been super busy lately! A nice break to watch movies sounds like a great plan! I'll join ya! lol!
It's always good to have the pictures when you're going to be seeing alot of family and friends. I remember lugging arround my albums all over the place after we got them. The less you have to do it the better because those things get sooooo heavy!
Hope your errands go well today and you get a bit of quiet time to relax!

Volleyball season is coming to a close, YAY! Yesterday was the last game and then Thursday they will have their end of the year party. I am so glad it's done. The kids just got to me more this year. They seemed to want to mess around more then actually play and learn. I'm glad to have my afternoons back again and be able to spend some time with DH.

Heather, I just hate leaving that's undone. I want to get all the little stuff, like the name changing info, out of the way asap. I should be getting my new social security card this week. So I think next Saturday, after work, I'll be off the get my driver's license changed and then just the little things, like credit cards and I THINK I'm done. Think being the key word in that sentance.

Thanks ladies. I was so happy with how everything turned out. It ended up looking even better then I had hoped it would. Last night Steve and I sat down and figured out what pictures we wated to order. He'll take that to the photographer later today and then we SHOULD have them in time for christmas.
I"m in a really blah mood today. I woke up just wanting to cry. I'm so tired of my job and dealing with the people I work with/for. Too much drama and lying and back stabbing. The job market is so scarce right now though. Thankfully Steve should get a nice promotion in the next month or so and I won't have to look for job that pays as much as this one. Ever day when I walk in the door something else is going on tha makes me want to turn and run. I can't sleep at night when I know I have to come in the next morning. Of course, I'm not making it any better by taking over time that's availible. I'm just trying to save up a little money in case I reach my limit before Steve's raise and I need to quit. Sigh. I have a week of vacation to use up. I need to take it and just get away for a few days. Clear my head and figure out what to do next with work. But right now they are denying everyone's time because they don't want to hire the right amount of staff. Yes well. Such is life I guess.

Steve got all the pictures ordered on Thursday. I can't believe how many we ended up picking out. Now clue where I'm going to put them on, but I had such a hard time choosing the ones they should blow up.
I got my new SS card in the mail yesterday. Unfortunatly the DL place is only open on Friday and Saturdays. I work all day friday, so next saturday, since DH will be at a Penn State game, I'm going to go and hopefully get the done after I get out of work at 2 (the place closes at 3 so I hope I can get there in time!) I printed out and filled out the form I needed so hopefully that saves time and stress. Monday I have to go see my MIL about getting new ID tags for work. She also works for the county and is in charge of all that stuff.
Steve works nights this weekend so I've got today and Monday to myself. Gives me time to work on bills, cleaning and such. Tuesday we are headed out of town for a good shopping trip. Finally use our gift cards, start working on Christmas presesnts, all that fun stuff.

The last few years I haven't been in a christmasy mood. This year is definatly different. I was making chocolate chip cookies today singing christmas music. I was thinking about what cookies to make, decorations to add to my collection. I'm ready to listen to the music all day long. Tonight, I'm just sitting on the couch and ya know what I really want to do? Make hot chocolate and watch Christmas shows. This is odd for me...it really is. I normally want nothing to do with the holiday until AFTER thanksgiving. Well, guess I'll start working on what to get people...I want to try to have my shopping done BEFORE the week of christmas this year!! LOL

Tomorrow is our shopping day. I haven't spend a whole day shopping in a long time. I'm actually looking forward to it. We have to go to the jewerly store to pick up Steve's new ring. The one he has now, doesn't fit too well. It's a comfort fit so while it's the same # size as the sizer at the store, it was a little loose. It tends to fall of his hand when they get wet. So we ordered a half size smaller. Then to target to spend out gift card. Most likely going to get Steve a new electric razor with part of that. Then off to Bed, bath and beyond. I am finally going to work on re-doing the downstairs bathroom, so I want to get new towels, rugs ect. Plus I need a new laundry bin. Then to use the Sears gift card. No clue for that one.

Friday night 2 of our Friends stayed at the house since they, Steve and his brother were all going out to state college to see the PSU game. That was...interesting. They are great guys and they always have me laughing. We decided to go bowling, which I haven't done in 4 or 5 years. It was great.
The next day I got stuck working late. So didn't get the house cleaned like I wanted too. When I did get home, I just relaxed for an hour and then the guys got back and we went to dinner.
Sunday was my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary party. It was great to see all my family that I don't get to see often. It's weird. Last time I was at an event like this, with all those people, I was about 16. Now that I'm married I'm considered with the old people...lol. I had conversations with people who I never really talked to before. I never realized how cool some of that family was!
I"m mad at my job, yet again. I scheduled for 2 days off and was told last week they would be approved by Thursday. So Friday I scheduled a Doctor's appointment that I haven't had time for, and planned to get other stuff done. Now they are saying they are taking the time off away from me. They aren't suppose to be able to do that, but they dont' care. They are on the war path right now and I think are TRYING to get people to leave. ARG. I need to get the paper and look though the want ads again.

That sucks Nikki! I'd tell them to stuff it, that you've made a doctor's appointment on a day that they said you could have off and you're taking it off!! And then show up for work like scheduled from there on out. I hate people who think they can treat their employees like poop. Those people should be lined up and shot! lol

I am so sick of my job and general. I am having NO luck finding anything new though. I don't know what to do. I can't afford to leave and not have a job. But I can't stay. I can't sleep at night and get sick just thinking about dealing with some of the stuff they have doing lately. It has gotten ridiculous. I love what I do. I love being about to help people when they have an emergancy. But I can't deal with management and now the other employees. I am seriously hoping and praying something else comes along really soon.

I love being about to help people when they have an emergancy. But I can't deal with management and now the other employees. I am seriously hoping and praying something else comes along really soon.
I hope and pray for that for you too Nikki!! I hope something better comes along very soon for you!!!!

Does your current employer offer Maternity pay? If they do maybe it'd be more advantageous to stay there until you are prego!?

yeah they do, but the leave isn't that great. they only pay a portion of what you make a week and then you are required to come back for at leave 3 months before quiting once you've been on maternity. There are some exclusions to not coming back, but it's mostly medical stuff

I'm feeling really depressed lately. I hate my job, but I can't find anything else. There is a secretary position opening up in another county office I might be able to transfer too, but I would be losing $100-$150 a pay check. We can't afford that until Steve gets his big raise. My work schedule is changing leaving me working 9 days straight. O, and I can't get any days off anymore cause the people I work with decide that they don't like me (not sure why) and they won't work my shifts. I can't have off unless I have someone to cover the shift. So it looks like I won't get to spend time with family for Thanksgiving or Christmas since I"m schedueled to work. So much for doing something special for our first holiday season together.
Oh and of course the calls I've been getting at work havent' been the best. I had 4 calls for people that were dead yesterday. 9 this week. I was told that's a record. Not one that I want that's for sure. I am actually afraid to go into work anymore cause I don't think I can handle any more of those calls.
I was suppose to be getting a puppy for christmas, and I was SO looking forward to that. Well, the landloard decided to veto that. Apprently someone else asked about getting one and he doesn't trust them to keep the dog out of trouble enough to let them get one. The landlord knows we would be good with the dog and training it, but he can't say yes to us and no to them.
Sorry I'm being so Blah today and depressing. I just need to get it all out before I go insane. None for my "friends" ever want to hang out or anything anymore so I only have Steve to talk to. And with our work schedules being opposite lately, I don't get to talk to him much anymore either.

Well, I'm going to work on my resume over the weekend and hand in an application for the secretary position opening up at the courthouse. It's a pay cut, but we can handle it. Because I already work for the county I found I may be able to tranfer my pay rate if I get the job, which would be awesome. Unfortunaly, since the 911 center is under staffed I would not be allowed to transfer to the new position till the enter is up in employees. That could take months......
I have been working some overtime to save up some extra money in case I have to take a large py cut with a new job. Working 9 days straight! So I took yesterday off to get some stuff done. We went to Walmart to pick up a few things, then went to buy some christmas decorations. When we got home we made the food to take for thanksgiving (it's not at our house now since I couldnt' get off of work today.) Made apple pie, cheese cake and glazed apples. Also went out and bought the rolls.
Then we loaded up all the cardboard that has been sitting in the dining room for weeks and took it to the inlaws to burn. Wow, I forgot how big that room is when it's empty! I can't wait to finish cleaning up and decorating. I hope to have the cleaning done by Sunday night so Monday we can start decorationg. YAY!

Now to work on a list to keep track of christmas presents.
My dad-no clue
my mom-partically done, partically clueless
my sister-Just need to buy the gifts
my brother-i THINK we know what to get him
my moh-no clue
mil-partially done, waiting on the second half
fil-no clue
sil-partially done
her husband-no clue
bil and his evil gf-a few ideas, not sure though
good friend-some ideas
oh, and we are doing a gift exchange at work in 2 weeks. I know what to get my person, just have to pick it up.
So as you can tell I'm still in the thinking stages.
oh, how can I forget, DH, i am searching online for his big gift as we speak, and I have a few ideas for smaller gifts. Just have to buy everything.

That would be really awsome if you could transfer to the court house and keep your current pay! I hope you get teh position and dn't have much trouble transfering!
Sounds like you made some really yummy things! I hope you guys have a great dinner today! Hopefully you and Steve will be able to host Thanksgiving at your house!
Looks like you've got a good start on shopping. I hate trying to figure out who want's what when they give me no hints! Good Luck finishing your shopping! I think i might borrow your idea and make a list in my journal as well. I already lost the one i wrote up last week on paper.

I'm so excited. We got a beautiful curio cabinet this week. Steve's great grandfather made it when he was young. So it's really old, but beautiful. I need to refinish it since it has a lot of scratches and stuff, but it's so nice to be giving a family peice like that. We put some of the crystal stuff we got as wedding presents in it and our christmas plate set.
Speaking of christmas, i'm getting kinda disappointed. I was so looking forward to decorating. When I unpacked my stuff, I realized I don't have much at all. I had such a small apartment before that it didn't take much for it to be decorated. That and I don't like a lot of decorations and stuff. Well, I like decorations, but I don't like to get to the point where it looks cluttered, ya know? Anyway, I have been to a couple stores around her and no one has any nice stuff this year. Walmart's stuff looks kinda tacky compaired to other years. I think tonight we me go out of town and hit up some other places. I want to make my house look like christmas!!!

All that's left to do decorating wise is decorate the tree and the lights outside. We'll do the tree tonight. As for the outdoor, maybe I can get Steve to do that Friday while I'm at work. My ILs decided they don't want to put the lights up outside anymore, so they are giving all of their lights to us. YAY! I'm really excited about that.
I decided on what to get my mom for christmas, I will probably order that today. Tonight once Steve gets home from work we are heading out to pick up a few odds and ends. We are also going to get a gallon of paint and I'll FINALLY get the stairwell painted. It's only be on the list of To Dos for the last 3 months. I'm really excited because the house is finally feeling like a home.
Otherwise, I spent the day doing laundry, cleaning and all that fun stuff.

Ok, it is 7 am on December 1st and it's 64 F outside. That is wrong. I am not a big fan of cold weather, but the one month I will except it is in December. Seeing Shawna's pictures of snow makes me want some for christmas. Then we can go back to the Spring-like weather.
Wednesday we finished decorating for christmas. Last thing to do was the tree. I'll have to find some time this weekend to get some pictures up.
My mom got tickets to go see the Martha Steward show yesterday, so her and I, my MIL and Steve (the driver...lol) took a road trip up to NYC. We got a bunch of free stuff at the show, which was cool. Nothing too exciting though. A few books, a rubics cube, perfume, and a pair of baby slippers. Then we walked around for a while. We wanted to me it it see the tree since they lit it the day before, but got lost, go figure. It was a nice trip though.
This weekend I want to get a lot done. Hopefully hang the outdoor lights, start (maybe finish) christmas cards and paint the stairwell. We'll see how much of that actually gets done by Monday...lol.

How could I forget to update you about the job interview!!
When we got home from NYC there was a message on my machine from the courthouse They want me to give them a call to talk about the position. Unfortunaly the courthouse was closed by then and tomorrow the guy I need to talk to will be out of town. Talk about bad timing! Now I have to wait until Monday to find anything out. Although, I may actually find something out at my current job today. Because it's a transfer, I will still work for the same people and they may have talk to my current boss already. I'll have to see if she says anything to me today. I also know that since we are under staffed already at the 911 center, they could put the transfer on hold until we are up to staff. That would make me made. The center is almost never up to staff. I'd be half tempted to just "quit" and then go to the courthouse that way. Guess we just have to wait till Monday to get all the info!

Maria, hope you enjoy the tree! I would love to go back out to NYC and actually see it sometime (with good directions so I don't get lost again!) Steve and I actually talked about going out to the lighting next year. Who knows if that will actually happen though.
Kacie, the weather is crazy. 64 at 7am yesterday and then we had a bad thunderstorm with winds at 70 mph. That cooled the temps right down. Now today we are in the upper 30s. No snow yet.....Shawna, you are more then welcome to send yours this way!

I got all my christmas cards and the list with address to send them too, just haven't written them out. The lights never got done either. O well. I did get some other stuff done like cleaning, grocery shopping, etc. I have most of my gift ideas figured out now too. I think Steve and I are going to go shopping tomorrow. Work has been really stressful. I found out from my boss that I most likely got the job at the courthosue I applied for, but after talking with Steve, I'm not sure I'm going to take it. The pay cut will affect us a little bit more then I originally thought. We would like to be able to save up as much money as possible so I can stay home once we have children. This job wouldn't allow very much to be saved. Plus, the spot I'd be in, just seems really boring and not something I would truly like doing. I called the HR guy this morning and he was in a meeting, so I'm waiting for his call back to see what he has to say. Then after I talk it all over with Steve I'll make a definate decision. I'm disappointed because I really want to find a new job. This one is really getting to me. But I also don't want to move to something that I don't think I will enjoy.

Thanks everyone. I keep playing phone tag with the HR guys. I wish I could just get in touch with him, find out the details and make my decision already. I had to run into work yesterday for a meeting that didnt' go to well. Although afterwards the boss pulled me aside to ask about the job and then started telling me about how I would be perfect for the quality assurance position that just opened up. It's a management spot and it reviews all the calls, keeps track of tapes and what not. It would be a nice raise, but I want to get out of the 911 dispatching. I worry that it would only be putting me deeper into the problems it is hasing right now.

This weekend we got a lot accomplished. YAY! We went to my work christmas party after I got out of work. IT was a good time. I got to play with my partner's 6 months old grandson. He was so adorible. I can't wait for another month or so when we can try for one of our own.
Sunday we got to sleep in, something that was much needed. Then we got Christmas presents for our brothers and my FIL. I just have to get something else for my mom, my sister and my SIL. Then it's just Steve. I have lots of ideas for once for him. Hopefully I can get most, if not all, of it done Wednesday.
Then we finished decorating outside. It looks great! Wrapped the presents that we bought so far, and started to clean off the back porch. Not sure how It got so cluttered! We also hung the blinds in the kitchen finally. Then we went to my ILs for dinner. Came back and met with some friends to start talking about vacation. We want to get a bunch of people together and rent a house at the beach for a week. I can't wait!
Now today we have just as long of a list to accomplish. And of course, at the moment, I can't rememeber any of it. This isn't good! Guess I need to get moving. Maybe that will jog my memory.

Well, I finally remembered everything I wanted to do Monday and got it all done. It was mostly running from one place to the other, like the post office, bank, etc. I also had to call the insurance company because I got my new cards in the mail yesterday and my name wasn't changed on them. I turned the forms into my boss 2 months ago. So I called and they never recieved the change. I called the lady in charge of handling that stuff and she insisted that she faxed the info a while ago. She was actually a little too insistant. Steve says she gets like that when someone tells her she messed up. And she did. Come to find out she never sent the info. I'm annoyed cause both Steve and I have to go to the dentist and the info hasn't been changed. Steve needs to be added to that part of the insurance, since I have better dental then him.
Yesterday we went out to the mall to walk around and get some ideas for christmas gifts for each other. I already had a bunch of ideas for Steve, but now I know I have more then enough. Today I'm going to finish (hopefully) the shopping for him and my sister. I'm also going with a friend of mine. He needs help finding a gift for his girlfriend.
I still need to get more cookies made. I want to make 6 different kinds for christmas. Then give some as gifts. So far I have 1 done. Maybe tonight I can get another one or two out of the way.

Oh! Yesterday Steve called the photographer to check up on the pictures we ordered. He will be picking them up today, then has to do something with them (Steve didn't remember what.) But they will be ready to be picked up next week. YAY! Some of the pictures are presents so I'm happy to have them in time for the Christmas. Plus, my walls are feeling empty. I want to be able to look at the pictures daily. I have a bunch of frames waiting for the pictures to arrive.

Well another weekend has past. One week untit chirstmas. Seeing Steve works days this weekend, I got to get a lot accomplished myself. All the baking is done with the exception of the cut out cookies. Steve wants to help with those, so we'll do them tomorrow. All the christmas shopping is done except for a shirt for my mom and something for SIL and her husband. I got the living room and kitchen mostly cleaned up.
I'm hoping to get my kitchen table for christmas. We have a small place in the kitchen for a table, and I'd like a small, high table, like you'd find in a bar. With 2 or 3 stools. I found a couple I liked and made sure I gave Steve all the info on them. We'll see whether he got the hint...lol.
Tomorrow our pictures we ordered will be done! So Wednesday we are going to go buy picture frames. We couldn't do it any earlier since I can't remember were we put list of the pictures and sizes. LOL.

We are talking about buying a house again. Steve's grandparents house actually. We talked about it a while ago and then decided it wasn't the right time. Well his aunts and uncles have had the house on the market for a few months now and it's not selling. The house was built by his great grand father. His cousin had been renting it after his grandparents past away and really did a number on it. It needs new windows, all new floor and the kitchen needs a major upgrade. We are going to go look through it one day this week. I have never seen the whole house. Their are a few downfalls though. It's on a pretty busy road. It sits pretty far away from it and has a lot of property, but I still am not sure about that idea. Plus, there is a trailer park in the back yard. No offense against them, I have no problem with them. It's just that I know that that makes selling a house even harder since many people have negative views on them. We wouldn't want to live there forever. It would kinda be a starter home. Eventually we want to buy a large piece of land out in the country and build a house. But that will be a some time yet.
So, it's something we really need to think on. Steve is almost afraid to make a decision. I'm not sure why. I think he really wants the house, but is afraid of getting into something and then being unable to resell it. It's a lot to think on.

Congrats on getting all of the cooking done except for the cookies. I bet it will be fun to do them with your DH too. Enjoy it. I hope you get the kitchen table. That will be so nice. I have always like that sort of table they are so cute and don't take up much space.
The house sounds like a lot of work but worth it if you really want it. I would also as you say consider the resale of it. But if you plan on being there for several years things might change around the area as well. Whatever you both decide on with regards to it I hope you get it if you want it.

Thanks everyone. I work with a guy who is a real estate agent on the side, so I'll talk to him next time I'm in...which my be a while....I'll explain.
Yesterday started out so good! We went and ordered our new headboard for the bedroom, the only part of the set we didn't have. Then we went to a wood carver here in town and he is going to hand make us a pub table and chairs for our kitchen. Only $300. Which is awesome for a handmade set!
Well on the way home, we were stopped in waiting for someone to turn into a funeral home and we got hit from behind. The guy was going at least 35 mph. Didn't even slow down. We were only 2 blocks from home (see accidents do happen closest to home). We both had our seatbelts on, as did the guy who hit us. OUr necks were a little sore, but that was too be expected. Well, I was walking around the truck talk to one of the guys from the ambulance crew (they were called to check on the other guy) and I started getting dizzy and passed out. Well got my first trip in an ambulance. I don't like being a patient. Much rather be the dispatcher or helping the crews out. So anyway after lots of x-rays and stuff, there is nothing major wrong. I just have a really sore back and neck and can't turn my head much. I get to wear a neck brace for a few days and get a few days off of work. So I'll get to sit around talking to you great ladies all day with a heating pad on my neck and back. If I'm not feeling better in 3 days I"m suppose to go to the doctor. yeah, do they realize that's a holiday weekend? So if I'm not better I have to stick it out until Wednesday to see my family doctor or take a another trip to the er.
So that is my excitement for the holiday.

Thanks ladies. I'm really sore today. I still get a little dizzy when I move my neck too much. Steve finally went to the doctor and got checked. We are both on some muscle relaxers and something to help a little bit with the pain. Steve's mom knows someone who gives massages on the side, and she is going to get in touch with her for us. The doc said that may help to relieve some tension. We took the truck for an estamite. Thankfully, we had the truck , or we would have been injuried a bit more. The work is only coming to about $1000 and the other guy's insurance should be paying for all of it. I have a feeling we'll be sleeping a lot the next couple days. Depending on how the meds affect us, we may skip out on driving down to my parent's christmas eve. I talked to them though and they said if that happens they will come up here. So that's good.

Take care of yourself hun! Hopefully you won't need another trip to the E.R.!

I can't believe how much that little accident has affected us! We are both still sore and had to go for MRIs. We'll get the results Monday. I'm back at work, but am really sore and are getting a lot of headaches. The doctor says I don't have to go if it bothers me, but I'm tired of sitting at home. Of course after my day today, I wish I wouldn't have gone in today. I head was pounding and work was crazy. The managers were fighting amongst each other and then flipped at me when I asked a simple question. I almost quit on the spot. Don't mess with me when I don't feel good!
Steve went back today. Because of the muscle relaxers we are on, he can't work the equiptment at work, so they are putting him on a desk job. He was suppose to get a raise in another week, but because of being out and now not being able to learn the rest of the stuff since he's in his regular position, that gets put on hold. PLUS, his hours are being cut since they don't need him as much on the desk. He will get them back once he can work his regular position again, but there isn't work for him to fill all the hours. We won't have any days off together until then either since his days working are different. At least it's all day shifts though. To a point this is a good thing, because he will get to spend a lot of time with the "big guys" which will help with future promotions and such.
We will definatly be going to the other guys insurance company about this. They told us to let them know if our work was affected. Hopefully they don't give us a hard time and we can get the money back that DH is losing.
Sigh

Thanks everyone!!! Steve called a lawyor today for a free consoltation. We just want to make sure that we get everything covered. They say we deserve at least a little pain and suffering pay due to the facts that it happened over the holidays, and cause we are still in pain. I feel bad asking for that pay. It's just not me to ask for free money, ya know? I have a really hard time with it, so I'm leaving Steve in charge of that. Although I have to admit a VERY small amount would be nice to pay down the debt.

We called another lawyor that has done work for a couple people that Steve works with. He seems like a great guy. We were shocked at all the stuff he told us that the other guy left out. I like the fact that this new guy is so up front. So we are going to sign with him this weekend I guess. I just want the whole thing to be over. I've been really sore the last few days and it's made the days that I work horrible since I can't relax. Our MRI results were suppose to be in Monday. I called yesterday and then didn't have them yet. Steve is going to call tomorrow and give them H3ll if we don't here today. He is still having a hard time lifting stuff. We just want to know what is wrong so that we work on fixing it. Whether it's physical theropy or going to the chiropractor, or whatever. The doctor doesn't want us to do anything yet in case we mess with something we shouldn't, ya know?
For the most part that's my life. Steve's on his new shift, working as a trainer for stuff he was just trained on. It will be good for him in the long run. I've gotten a lot of stuff done around the house with him not here during the day though. SO that's good. Today my dad and sister are coming up for a few hours. Dad is going to work on my car and my sister and I are just going to hang out.

Today is the anniversary of the day Steve and I first met. We met at a hockey game. I was there with some mutual friends and his brother has season tickets and couldn't go so Steve went.
So, Steve surprised me yesterday by telling me he got his brother's season tickets for the hockey game tonight. Unfortunatly, I woke up feeling HORRIBLE. Hopefully I am feeling better later today so we can go to the game.

I hope you can go! That is so sweet of him!
Well I'm feeling better now so I'm pretty sure we are going to go. I was shocked when he told me. One because he rememebered and Two because he doesn't usually do surprises like that!
How are you doing since the crash?
At our last dr's appointment and got the MRI results, mine is mostly muscular. It's all just working it out itself now. The only time I'm in real pain is when I get really stressed out at work, or if I sleep on my left side at night.
As for Steve, he has a slightly bulged disc that may be pinching a nerve. So he has an appointment to see a neuralogist to get that checked out. He's still at a desk for his job since he can't lift anything and still gets some tingling in one hand.
We met with a lawyor and now we just have to wait for our injuries to get straightened out. I guess they will take the total cost from medical bills (dr appointments, meds, test, etc.) and times that by 4 and that's about what we will get from this. I really don't care if we get any money. As long as Steve get the money back he is losing since he has less hours and our med bills are paid.

Today Steve truck finally goes to get fixed. YAY! On the down side, we figured we are loosing about $600 a month because of the different work schedule Steve has to work because of the injury. Lucky for us, he'll get it back, but right now it is leaving us in a tight spot getting bills paid. I like to pay a little extra on everything and right now, if I make the min. payment on everything I'm just squeaking by.
In other news, I have no clue what to get Steve for valentines day. I get him a new collectible firefighter bear every year, but I like to get him something else little too and have no ideas. That's my goal for this week, to figure something out.
We are also thinking about going to Wisconsin this summer to visit my MOH. So I'm slowly starting to figure out when to go and all that fun stuff. That will be exciting.

ikkin510
01-29-2007, 01:56 PM
Talk about stress I don't need. I got home from dropping off the truck about an hour ago and then phone rings no sooner do I walk in the door. It was the repair shop. They said they went out to get the truck and noticed a big scrap on the side of it!!! He asked that I come down to look at it. So I went back. It doesn't really seem noticable in my opinion. Looks like it scrapped up against something but I have no clue what. Steve didn't know when I called him either. No pant scraps. Looks like the dirt is scrapped and a small dent. I won't have even noticed if the truck wasn't dirt! Well the estimate to get it fixed...$694!!! How in the world could it cost that much? I let Steve know and told him to just do whatever. I can't handle having to think about how to do that. IMO, it's not noticable...leave it the way it is. But it's his truck.
ladymelissa
01-29-2007, 08:19 PM
Oh, no! So that newly noticed scrape isn't part of the accident damage?
Kacie_bride
01-29-2007, 08:54 PM
Ugh! It always seems that anything with cars cost so much to be fixed. I wonder why that is.
ikkin510
01-30-2007, 10:20 AM
No, it's not part of the accident damage. I guess someone scrapped up against the truck and wasn't nice enough to leave a note. Yes well. Steve stopped by the repair shop on the way home from work to look at it and it's quite the scrap when the dirt is washed up. Thankfully our deductible is only $250, so the insurance will cover most of it and it won't cause our rates to go up since it was most likely a hit and run. Oh and we talking to the lawyor and Steve should have a check with the hours he's missed so far next week!!! That will help a lot, expecially with the new damage.
They say bad things happen in 3s. So we should be done with vehicle problems for a while since the hinges on my passager door on my vehicle broke last week. My dad fixed that though. Hopefully this means when I take it to be inspected next month everything comes though ok!

Trucks done, looks as good a new. (which is good, since it's only 5 months old!) Glad to have done and out of the way. Now we just wait for all the medical stuff to be done with and we can forget about it all!
In other news, it's suppose to snow tomorrow! We may get our first inch of snow! They are expecting 3 as of right now. And I have to work it. I hate the first big snow fall. People forget how to drive. Lots of accidents. Plus the trainee I have can't do the job to save his life. So I"m sure my partner and I will be doing out work AND his work. Found out today that my trainee at work quit. I'm kinda glad cause he couldn't do the job, but at the same time, we need to get some people off training. They just hired two more guys. Haven't worked with them very long yet to tell if they'll make it.
I need to start working on Steve's valentine's day present. Still not completely sure what to get him. I'll have to work on that while he is working this week. Along with getting the house cleaned. I've been slacking big time in that area. I don't think a vaccum has seen the upstairs carpet in almost a month!!! Not good. I asked Steve to wash dishes and at least vaccum the downstairs for me while I was working today. Should have only taken 15 minutes tops. Well, Neither was done and he is no where to be seen. I call him and find out he decided to go over to the firehouse and help clean out the kitchen. HELLO!! Arg.

I was disappointed with the superbowl. I am a big Bears fan. It was great to see them run back the kick off for a TD, but it seemed to be all down hill from there. I turned off the TV by the 4th quarter. I was so disappointed with the way they were playing. Steve was upset cause he didn't see and great commercials. Although, we did have a laugh at the doritoes commercial where the kid gets in an accident cause he was checking out the girl on the side of the road. That was exactly how we got rear-ended in December (minus the Doritoes, LOL)

All of you ladies who watched football yesterday reminded me of something that we thought was kinda dumb in hawaii! (and this is not meant to insult anyone by any means!! :D) BUT! Here we were in a tropical paradise and there were actually people GLUED to the tvs to watch FOOTBALL!!! I told Matthew that if we ever went to Hawaii and he was like that, I'd serve him with divorce papers when we got home!!! I couldn't imagine having a football game take that much time away from our holiday! lol. I was also thinking if that these people were such huge super fans, why did they come to Hawaii? Shouldn't they have stayed home to support their teams?? I guess I am just saying that I don't get it! Lol

I ended up having a really good time though. Their new place is beautiful. And I love how they are decorating it. She definatly isn't afraid of color...lol, but it looks great.
Then Sunday Steve wanted to celebrate Valentine's Day. We went and did a little shopping. Then went to eat at Outback. I had never been there, but it was really good. I just have to vent a little bit here. Don't mind me....
Steve and I are on schedules right now that we don't have any days off together unless one of us actually takes a day off of work (like yesterday.) Normally it is me taking the time off. So any other time I like to be able to take advantage of the little bit of time I get to spend with my husband. But I"m kind of getting annoyed at him.
Now don't get me wrong, I am so proud of him for being a firefighter. Not everyone can go into a burning building. Most people run out. Not everyone can handle seeing the badly injured at accidents. He loved being able to help and do this stuff. But it's really starting to annoy me.
Mondays he works all day and then insists he has to go to the firehouse for the weekly get together. Once a month it's maintance and a meeting, but otherwise it's just them hanging out. Now days like today, he's been on 2 calls already since he's walked in the door.
Then there is the fact that we live right next to the fire house and he insists that he can't NOT go to a call because he is so close. But every now and then I just want to spend some time with him. I'm not saying he can't go to all the calls, but lately they are constantly going on a call somewhere and I just want to spend a little time with him. Just relax and have him turn his pager off for a few hours. Now we only leave town when he knows there are people around to go on the calls. And we can't be gone too long. It's just getting to me.
Maybe I'm just being selfish. There are times when he doesn't get calls for a week or two and I have tons of time with him. But I guess that just makes when he is consitantly gone on calls even harder.
Yes well. As I said, just venting. You can disregard the post...lol

Awww hun that must be tough! Have you talked to him about how you are feeling? I'm sure he'd understand that you need a little time with him to yourself. I understand how much he loves him job. But i'm sure that the other guys are ok to do a day with out him.
Good Luck hun! I hope you are able to get some time with him all to yourself!

I tried to talk to him about it and he just say he has to do it. Oh well. At least he didn't have any calls yesterday. Well, i guess I should start shoveling all the snow outside. This may take awhile

Lucky you! The offical word from the weather report we got at work today was 20 inches. That's about right from what I measured in my yard! It's a mess here! Although, I am thankful that we ended up with almost no sleet and ice.

No sleet and ice is a very good thing. That can make for scary scary scary roads!!! :( We don't want that for Nikki!! ;)

Well it's been about 3 months since I updated here...
Live is going great for Steve and I. I quit my job as a dispatcher back in April. Been play house wife since then. Possibly starting a part time job later this month. Just something to keep me out of trouble...LOL
Yesterday was my b-day (half way to 50...woohoo!) so earlier in the week we had gone to Lancaster for a few days. Just to relax and enjoy eachother.
Not much else going on. We are pretty much done with the whole accident thing. One more doctor visit at the end of the month and then the whole incident can be settled. Neither of us have any problems anymore unless we are REALLY stressed. But we were told we'd probably always get a little pain then.
So life is going great.

I hoping the lack of stress will help in our TTC. Although we are taking a little break from it until I have a PT job bringing in a little extra cash.

That would be helpful to not be stressed for that. Good luck with that as well. DH and I are trying as well.. That is stressful in itself!!!

Even though I don't NEED to work right now, I got myself a Part time job at the local video rental place. Free rentals never hurt! Plus it keeps me out of trouble! Only 10-20 hours a week. So that's will be nice.

I'm so horrible with remembering to update this journal. I end up doing most of my updating on BR because of the baby.
Our first anniversary is in a little over 2 weeks. I can't believe it's been a year already, but at the same time, it feels like so much longer. Make any sense? We had been planning on going away for the weekend, but budget wise we can't afford to. I'm sure we will at least go out to dinner though. I'd like to do something special, although not sure what. Everything I think of costs more money then we want to spend...LOL.
Otherwise, nothing too exciting going on here. I can't believe it's almost October. Guess I need to start thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas plans. Once the holidays are gone only another month till the baby comes. Looks like life will get busier.

I'm really upset with my mom and brother right now. I had asked my brother to video tape the wedding. Now he doesn't talk to me, but my mom talked with him and he agreed. He had done this at other weddings, including my aunt's and did a great job. Now, here were are one year later and I have a yet to get the tape. I keep asking about it and my mom seems to dance around the subject. I have a feeling my brother really never did tape it and she just doesn't want to tell me. That would really TICK me off, both for her not telling me and for my brother, saying he was going to and then not. Neither Steve or I remember seeing the camara set up, but then we weren't exactly looking for it either.
In other new, well, there isn't too much. Our anniversary is a week from tomorrow. Nothing planned. This week I have to go get DH a gift and also a birthday gift since his birthday is in 10 days too.

Hmmm I would wonder if perhaps somethign went wrong (with the camera or tape or whatever), and they don't want to tell you that either.

I thought about that, but I think my mom would have told me that. She knows I wouldn't have been upset if it was just a recording problem. But I honestly believe it was just my brother being my brother.
You see, my brother hasn't talked to my sister or I in about 6 years now. If he did say something to us, it was never anything nice. Until about 2 years ago when my brother decided to go back to college, he would lock my sister in her room and not let her out, just because he could. For the longest time Steve did not believe I had a brother. To this day, my brother has yet to say a single word to Steve, not like Steve hasn't tried to talk to him on a couple occassions. I have also tried to talk to him and straighten things out, but he only ever gets nasty towards me. My mom does not think there is anything wrong. She does not believe my sister or I that my brother does not talk to us and treats us poorly. My mom is also not one to admit that she is wrong. So I think there is a much better chance that my brother didn't record it and my mom just won't tell me because that means admiting that my brother is not perfect and she is wrong. Yes well. At least we still have the pictures from the wedding. I think I'm more hurt over my brother and my mom not being willing to tell me anything about the tape, whether it be a camera error or not.

Woohoo! Got the anniversary gift out of the way. A friend of mine asked if I knew anyone who would want to buy 2 tickets to the PennState/Wisconsin game next weekend. Steve is a HUGE PSU fan. So got the 2 tickets and spoke with one of his good friends and it's all set. He is going to be thrilled! And I'll get to so visit my SIL and go shopping while he is there...HEHE.

WE ARE
PENN STATE!
Have a great time at the game..If you take 45 out instead 80 you'll be close to my house..We're about an hour from the field..Although, this year we're not going to any games because we're so busy...Hopefully next year though!!

LOL, I try Katy!
Jonelle-I know we will most likely be driving through your town, seeing that's where SIL lives. She's about a 15 minute drive from the mall, I think. I'm not real good with the area.
Steve trys to go to at least one game every year. Normally it's him, his brother and 2 other good friends. But the ticket prices have been outragous this year. So When I heard about these 2 ticket and that I could get both for only $140, I jumped on it. I can't wait to tell him!
Next year he and the other 3 guys are talking about getting 2 season ticket seats and then spliting the games between them all. Me, I acutally like watching the games at home. Then I don't have anyone looking at me wierd when I start yelling at the tv!! LOL

Our anniversary was nice. We kept it really simple. Just going out to a nice lunch and then did some shopping. After that Steve went and played Wallyball with a group of friend (3 out of 4 of his GM from the wedding were there.) So I had fun watching them play and attempt not to get hurt.
After that we just relaxed on the couch. Made some pizza to eat for dinner. We also danced to our first dance song.
The tickets were a big hit. He was so excited, although kinda annoyed too. We sort of agreed to not spend much money on each other. But since his birthday is this thursday I played it off as a combined anniversary/birthday gift. I just need to get him something small so I have something to give him thursday. Probably one of the handheld Deal or No Deal games. (he's been eye-ing them up lately.)
O, and we had froze the top layer of our wedding cake. I wasn't expecting much from it. I total forgot about saving it and so didn't get to wrap it like my baker suggested. But my FIL wrapped it multiple times in foil. So we pulled out it Saturday and let it thaw. I was seriously scared to taste it...LOL
But...It tasted AWESOME! The cake itself tasted exactly like I remembered it did at the wedding. The icing tasted a bit odd, but that was easy enough to scrap off. Yay!

Today is my hubby's birthday. He was very adimit on not wanting me to get him anything. He says his PSU tickets for our anniversary covers it. I of course still feel bad. So I'm making a nice dinner (his fav, glazed chicken on the grill, potatos, beans and probably corn). Then his "cake"-apple crisp. Which I have to make this afternoon. Poor guy is working today so won't be home until 7:30 tonight.
In other news, the house we rent is owned by the fire house (it's actually right next door to the fire house.) Steve loves being so close to his favorite past time. LOL.
Well we have a huge backyard. The fire house decided to build a large storage shed in the back to house some of the grills, fryers, extra tables, etc. All the stuff they use for the yearly carnival. That's fine and dandy. We still have a huge yard and there will be extra space in it that Steve can park his truck in there durning the winter (I use the carport.)
Well, they really aren't telling us much about when the building is going to be put up. Last we knew it was suppose to be started a month ago. Nothing yet. I'd like to have some sort of an idea when the sounds of construction will be waking me up bright and early in the morning. Not to mention, I really hope they get it done before winter. I'd hate to have to worry about the baby being here and getting woken up constantly. I asked the chief yesterday for an update. His answer....soon. O shesh.
