I'll tell you from experience, that it is not ok to cut loose at a company Christmas party. The people who didn't cut loose will be talking about you the rest of the year. :snide: It's hard to be taken seriously after you've tied one on at a work party. I will have one drink, two at the most, and then I leave early. :)

I voted a little with restraint still needed. You will be the butt of the gossip if you let your hair down to far. They never forget it.

Nope. I wouldn't do it. Family gatherings are similar .... I don't want to be the talk of the family, office or town for that matter.

Never! A girl from Eric's company got on the table last year and danced (if you want to call her unskillful attempt at stripperlike moves, that) then she promptly made a misstep in her platforms and FELL OFF. She was the talk of the plant!
I don't drink period at my functions and had a few drinks last year at Eric's but behaved myself.

I think it's okay to do it a little bit, but with restraint. At Justin's company functions I have had a couple of drinks, but I defiantely did not get drunk. I'm going to be a teacher, so I'll probably not be doing any drinking at any of my functions.

It's okay to have fun, that's why it's a party. But standing on a table taking your clothes off is never acceptable, unless you are a stripper and at work, I guess.
Extremes just aren't fun for me, so I could probably totally let myself go (as far as my personal limits go) and no one would look twice.

As a teacher, I can tell you that there is definitely drinking at Christmas and End term parties!!!
But, I also agree that no one should just cut completely loose. A few drinks, have a great time, but remember, these are the people you have to work with and you want their respect! Restraint!! My first year of teaching, I went to the end term party and one woman had waaaay too much to drink! She was waving her knife around while talking, dancing entirely inappropriately, and in general just embarrassing herself. It's 7 years later, and she's still brought up as an example of what NOT to do at a party!

I agree ... have fun, but remember these are people you work with and your business reputation could be tarnished.

you always hear about the girl who got on the tables for a long time, you never hear about the girl who sat at the table, i prefer to be the girl who is sitting:)

Have a little fun, but some restraint is needed.

Have fun but a little restraint is needed since you do have to face these people in a few days after the party.
