When you get in the shower, what do you do first?

I used to step in first, but then started turning the water on first because I get cold standing there. Then the water is usually cold at first. I let it warm up.

I turn the water on first. We have a tank-less water heater, it heats the water in the pipes when it senses the tap is turned on. The water is usually warm at first, then really hot then cold, so it has to have time to 'level off' but once it does you can take showers as long as you want and never loose hot water, it is great :bbmrgreen:

I usually turn o the water first, then I stand there for like 2-3 minutes. I love hot water! I wash my hair (shampoo), rinse, smear on conditioner. let sit for like 2 minutes. While the conditioner soaks I usually soap down or shave. Rinse. LOL! For some reason, writing it out it seems like it would only be like a 5 minute shower, however when I get out it has been like 10-15 minutes. Anyone else have that long of a shower??? :puppy:

I turn on the water first. I can relate with those long showers I have a thing to where I need to at least wash my hair and body 2 times before leaving the shower or I don't feel clean. Boy at times I feel I have too many quirks LOL

I always turn the water on first, and then stand there with my hand under the water till it gets warm. :)

I feel like my showers are 5-10 minutes but then come to find they were 10-15! LOL. I usually stand there for a couple minutes and warm up, it feels the best when its cold like today, or in the winter!

Here is my shower routine:

let water warm up
stand for a couple minutes
soap down/shave
shampoo/conditioner hair
wash face (gives pores time to open, I think lol)Yesterday, when I turned the water on, it came out the shower head not the faucet! I was like, "Chris! You didn't turn off the shower!" LOL. That's why I turn it on first, instead of getting right in!

my house has crappy hot water, so we can turn on the shower, eat dinner, have sex and still it will not be warm. hahaha so I have to wait awhile. :)

1. Turn it on and let it get to the desired temp
2. Get in, get wet and lather up the hair
3. Brush my teeth
4. Soap down
5. Shave
6. Rinse (includes hair)
7. Wash my face and re-rinse

My showers are 10-15 minutes

Yes I do...I started doing that in basic training (AIR FORCE) and haven't stopped...it saves time, and there's no mess in the sink!

Hmmm, I never tried that before. Does it take some time to get used to?

I turn the water on first, then I use the toilet and wait for the water to heat up, and then I get in.

I've actually been doing this lately myself. Saves time too!

I turn on the water then get in after it is at the right temp. Once in I get wet, shampoo my hair, rinse it then put on the conditioner and let it set while I also brush my teeth in the shower, wash and shave then wash my face then rinse the conditioner. Then I will stand in the hot water a few more mins. My showers are long too. About 15 to 20 mins. I try to cut it back but I have a routine in there so I can't.

I turn the water on first.

For those that brush their teeth in the shower: where do you put your toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash while you are showering? Our shower wouldn't have enough shelf space for all that, we can barely fit our shampoos and soap and stuff. Do you floss in the shower, too?

I put toothpaste on my brush before getting in the shower. And I set it on the endge of a wall hanging little shelf we put in there untill I use it then it goes back in the thoothbrush holder on the sink when I am done. No flossing in the shower.

My toothpaste and my brush stay in the shower on a top shelf. No, it didn't take any getting used to....after 6 weeks of BMT I was in habit of doing it and it just stayed with me. I don't floss in the shower and I use my mouthwash once I get out while I'm picking out my hair.

I usually get in first.

Why? because our shower sprays all over, and if I don't get in and "seal" the shower curtain to the tile, then weight it down with shampoo bottles, the floor gets SOAKED, and my mom gets mad!

I usually have a minute of freezing water, then it's fine.I have a system too.
Wet hair and apply shampoo and wash.
leave shampoo on hair while I wash body (some parts with body wash, some with ivory soap. I'm weird)
Shave if needed
rinse hair with cool water. Rinse body.
apply conditioner.
if i feel like it, brush teef. I have a toothbrush with a suction cup on it!
rinse hair with COLD water (I say it makes my hair smoother..)
use face scrub and then wash face.

wow, I do alot in there!!!

We have a huge bathtub but a separate and teeeeeny weeeny shower stall so I turn on the water first and then step in. If I stepped in first there would be no way to avoid the inital cold water spray ..... BRrrrrrr!

I always turn the water on, get it to the temp. I want and then step in. Alex is the opposite. I HATE cold water, so there is no way I could stand in a shower with cold water.

So you change the temp of the water when you're in their to rinse your hair? Don't you get really cold?

I brush my teeth in the shower too. I have a caddy thing where I keep my toothbrush and toothpaste. Like Ellen, I floss and rinse at the sink when I get out.

I started doing this after DH and I moved in and he did it. I don't know how or why he started doing it, but it seems to save time and I am just use to it.

I rinse in cold/cooler water, too. It's not really my favorite part, but I do notice a difference in my hair and I think it kind of closes my pores and makes my skin better and more apt to retain moisture as well. The degree of "cold" varies with my mood though!

Nope.

I'm used to it. When I was 14 we moved to Hawaii and built a house..and at first we had no plumbing so we had to either shower at the beach (freezing water) or when it rained I would take a shower (in my bathing suit) with the water that was pouring off the roof. So, I can deal. It's not that bad, and it does make my hair look smoother....
