'Droopy drawers' bill seeks end to overexposure of underwear

THE WASHINGTON TIMES

RICHMOND — Virginia lawmakers to the state's youth: Pull up your pants or pay the price.
Delegate Algie T. Howell Jr. doesn't want to see underwear hanging out of the back of your pants, and most lawmakers yesterday agreed with him. The House voted 60-34 for his bill, which would impose a $50 fine on anyone whose boxers, briefs or thongs peek above their pants or skirts.
"It's not an attack on baggy pants," said Mr. Howell, Norfolk Democrat. "To vote for this bill would be a vote for character, to uplift your community and to do something good not only for the state of Virginia, but for this entire country."

It's not clear if the fine would apply to plumbers, carpenters or other laborers who have problems with low-riding pants. The bill states the fine would apply to those who display their below-the-waist underwear in a "lewd or indecent manner."

I think it's youthful rebellion, and I'm praying that it goes away soon. I can't understand it, and I don't like it at all!

I personally think it is retarded and looks stupid, but whatever. There are much worse things kids could be doing I guess.

I like somewhat baggy pants but they have to fit and not sag ;)

LOL I don't understand it but my son has caught the "bug" although his pants don't drop as far as those pictured above.

I teased him about it this weekend ... with a serious face, I told him that he needed to get into the bathroom right away because it looks like he dropped a load. :) Later on, he was telling me that he needed a belt. I guess it get's tiring to keep the pants hiked up to butt level all the time.

Worse for me is seeing him walking around town in pyjama bottoms. Get dressed son!

Yeah, my brother used to wear his pants kind of like that (not as bad as the pictures) and one day I yanked his pants down ... he got a belt the next day :bblol:

I hate that look, especially in the pic above...why even wear pants??

I think that baggy is ok, not saggy.

I think it is a passing fad. I think it is starting to go out of style anyway. I think it looks sloppy. I'm glad my FH does not wear his pants like this.

I personally think it is so ugly. If I wanted to see your boxers, I would ask. Pull up your **** pants already.

My son entered this phase I was like ok if I don't see them then I don't have a problem thankfully he is young enough so I told him my house my rules and the only way your leaving the house is with a belt on. Thank god when we went shopping this year for school clothes where we live the fad is just about gone you can't find those saggy pants anymore.

Other. I think if they can't figure out how to operate a belt, they shouldn't go out in public. I don't see what's so cool about it anyway. Do they really think that people want to see what kind of underwear you wear? I don't.

I think it's gotta be a mental deficiancy! I mean why would you want to wear your pants so that your *** hangs out like that?? Come on children! PULL UP YOUR FREAKIN PANTS!!!!

Amen, Sister! I don't understand how they keep them up even with a belt??? There's a reason pants are made with a WAISTBAND!

I think it probably is a passing fad, but I am ready to see it pass already. I remember a couple years ago my family and I were on the way to a football game. We stopped at a McDonald's to eat lunch. My daughter pointed out a man standing at the register and told me to look at his pants. He had on jogging pants (which that alone looks terrible) and they were sagging big time. I told her not to stare and we all sat down to eat. A little later my daughter burst out laughing. All she could do was point and laugh. We all looked up and the man had lost his pants. They were around his ankles by this point. He was asked to leave. I sincerely hoped he learned his lesson in public.

I voted for mental deficiency! LOL! I think its SO stupid. My mom will go into stores and see a guy where his pants like that and she'll actually say something to him about. How can that be the least bit comfortable knowing your *** is pretty much hanging out all the time?

Eww I hate that. Thankfully the trend never really reached France that much, I've only seen a couple guys dressed like that.
But the "apparent thong" trend is just as bad I think, as well as more common.

I don't like it. I used to see is ALOT in high school, but i don't anymore. Either people are just growing up or maybe hopefully its passing. Some of Evans friends STILL do it, and I always tell them I don't want to see that.Lol. Evan doesn't do it.

It's a fad, but it sure isn't passing too quickly. Kids were doing this when I was in HS in 1992!!! So, over 15 years of this? I do think it is starting to go out of style, that 80's retro preppy look (which I cannot STAND!!!) is taking over the world now...
