How do we see ourselves?

According to psychologists, each of us experiences ourself in three fundamental ways: How we see ourselves; how we think others see us, and how others actually see us. If there is a big gap between these selves, we have problems. These problems occur because our image of ourselves is not grounded in reality. My question is how do you see yourself, and do you think that others see you in approximately the same way?

I care what other people peceive me to be like, because sometimes that's not how I see myself. But there is really nothing I can do about their perceptions, I just go on being myself. I wouldn't say I'm in love with myself necessarily, but I like myself ok. :)

I'm with you, Karen. I do care what others think of me, and I recognize my own faults, but neither rules my life. I try to be a good person, and change the things about myself that I don't like. When people don't see me for who I really am, it bothers me a little, but I won't ever lose sleep over it, or let it change me.

I some times care what others think of me and some times I dont. I voted other because I do like myself for who I am. I am not ovelry concerened that I have to be this thin little thing, I dont dress like a bum but hat is becaues I like clothes. Cant afford them but I like dressing up and I love being in my jeans and boots. If some one doesnt like me for some reason it is their loss. Not to sound conceited or anything but I know I am a kind hearted person who would do anything to help some one out if I could. I love wher eI am today even though I am in debt. I am better off then we were growign up.

If some one doenst like me then it is usualy a problem they have that has nothign to do with me. I can get along with any one There are only 2 people in the whole world tha tI strongly dislike ( those are stories in their own ) but other then them I am a very easy peron to get along with.

So yes I am happy with who I am. Not inlove with myself per say, that sounds funny to me.

We are always hardest on ourselves. We compare ourselves to others.

I like myself fine but with that said, I would always follow that statement with the buts .... but I wish I weighed less, but I wish I had less wrinkles, but I wish I was more fit, but I wish spent more time helping others, but I wish I was less quick to anger, but I wish I was more confident ....

I honestly think others see me as a nicer, more attractive, capable, have-it-all-together woman than I see myself. It might just be interesting to see ourselves through other's eyes.

For the most part, I don't care what others think of me. When dealing with my boss or clients, I do like to come across and be perceived a certain way, but for the most part, I don't really care what others think.

I care but don't care. I care that people see me as a kinda good hearted person. And i care that people don't look at me as a slob. But i don't care at the same time because i am comfortable with myself and who i am.

There are a couple of things about my appearance I'd like to change (mostly to loose about 30 lbs) but overall, I like myself.

I guess I care what people think sometimes and more so with certain people in my life I guess ... and I like to be perceived as a professional businesswomen. But in everyday like I mostly don't care what people thing, and I am certainly not likely to change who I am to please another person.

I don't care how other people see me. I have the idea in my mind on how I am, and I am the way I am around people...if people don't like how I am around them, then they don't have to like me. But I feel that I"m a pretty likeable person....granted some people beg to differ on that fact, but the people who do like me and hang out with me a lot seem to think I'm a pretty **** fun person. There are a lot of people in my life who hate me and a lot of people who like me....its each individuals decision on which side they want to be on, I could careless which side they choose.
