I once talked with a woman who said that she rented her wedding gown from someone who would mix and match different bodices, skirts and sleeve options. The customer would pick a favorite from each category and then the parts would be sewn together all for the rental price. I think that's a great idea for bridesmaids. I get orders for the same bridesmaid style over and over again, and I frankly get bored of making them! It would be great to make it up only once, and let everyone share! Of course the difficulty is in matching color choices. That is the one thing that is always changing, but if there was some mixing and matching, perhaps there would be something for everyone. I am wondering though, is there any demand for this type of service?

Hello Laura,
There no wedding dress company that I know that lets the bride mix and match wedding gowns. In fact the only company that I know of that gives the bride a lot of color and style options is Bill Levkoff (http://www.billlevkoff.com).
I think if bride could rent dresses there would be a market for it. I talk to a lot of brides who ask if anyone knows of this option. I have not ran into anyone who has.
Mix and matching wedding gown parts is something that I have not heard of before, let alone seen. If the design was relatively simple, like a couture bodice top with a A-line shirt, then I think the market would be welcome.
Nowadays, most bridal gown manufacturers give the bride tons of custom options, so I believe the service is not as needed in really fancy gown types.

Most people will just have it made with the mix and match patterns.
