Honeymoon Planning Tips ...
You should try to make your honeymoon travel plans at least 6 months prior to the wedding day. (or the day you are leaving if not directly after the wedding)
First you should sit down with your fiancé and discuss your ideas and expectations for the honeymoon. Remember, it is a vacation for both of you!
Ask yourselves a few basic questions to help decide on the type of honeymoon vacation that is right for both of you.
1. Do we have a “dream honeymoon” if so what is it?
2. Should we go somewhere local or somewhere further away ... which is better, warm and sunny or cold and snuggly?
3. Do we want to be active and do lots of things together or do we want to just take it easy and relax together?
These questions should get you started on the right track. Once you have decided on a concept and/or destination, then you should consult a travel agent. Now, when you start calling around and requesting information and quotes and such, don’t forget to tell everyone it is your honeymoon! You can often get special honeymoon packages, discounts and/or perks. Like with a cruise, you usually get assigned a table for dinner with several other people but, if you tell the travel agent it is your honeymoon, you
can get your own table. Get the idea?! At the very least you will get some congrats
Once everything is set you will want to confirm all your travel plans a couple of weeks before you depart. Check on reservations, room numbers, flight times, etc. With all the other wedding stuff going on during this time, it is easy to forget some of the important details.
As you plan and pack for your trip remember these tips: Put a tag with your name and address on it inside and outside all of your bags. Don’t forget to bring deodorant, lotions, cosmetics, tooth brushes, and all the other everyday basic items with you. If you are able to get these items while on your trip they will likely cost much more than normal. Take along a couple of books or magazines for the trip there and back home. Don’t forget to bring travelers checks instead of lots of cash, though you should bring some cash, it is better to have more money in travelers checks in case anything gets lost or stolen. And then of course you don't want to forget the necessary paperwork … passports, tickets, itinerary, etc ... Bring a camera, everyone is going to want to see pictures from the honeymoon.
Most of all, have fun and enjoy each other and hug and kiss a lot!
Best wishes to all!
