Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

As for us, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with an oh so traditional Japanese dinner! LOL It's my son's 16th birthday, he is visiting and he wants Japanese so, we are off to the Benihana Japanese Steakhouse tomorrow night. Mmmmm

We are also going to hit the Imax theatre and buy him a ring tomorrow (16th birthday tradition on my side of the family).

No turkey at our place :)

Going to the "Old Port" of Montreal. They are showing Greece - Secrets of the Past - http://www.greecefilm.com/ Could be interesting - my son has an interest in history and Hugh loves Greek history & art.

I don't know what kind of ring he will end up choosing but we are looking for some kind of man's casual ring. Perhaps a signet ring or one with a stone.

Mark and i are off to his mom's tonight, his sisters and their families will be there. I'm really looking forward to it! It's also my nephew Christopher's 1st Birthday so we're having a little party for him!
Tommorrow night we are having more turkey at my mom and dad's house! It will just be the 4 of us. Nice and small and quiet. :D

I too want to join in in saying Happy Thanksgiving! Hope your day is great being with your families. Eat some turkey for me. I can't wait for Thanksgiving.

I have one question. If you don't mind. I know why we have our Thanksgiving, I mean the reasoning behind it all. What is the reasoning behind yours. Not trying to sound rude just looking into the history of it. I lived next door to Canada half my life and know alot of people who live there but I have never known the answer. Thanks.

Well one of the main reasons for both of our thanksgivings is the crops. We're all thankful for the food being brought in. Because we are further North that the US, our crops come in quicker. So therefore ours is sooner then yours.
We don't celebrate pilgrims, we just say happy thanks giving and thank you for__________.
Not a stupid question or rude!!!! The only way we find out answers is by asking!!!

Yep but it isn't quite as big of a deal as it is in the states, for some reason. I think given a choice of one or the other, most Canadians would choose to be with their family during Christmas rather than at Thanksgiving.

That would be so nice!! lol. Unfortunately I think even a flight departing Calgary in a half hour would still be too late for your six reservations. *sigh* Maybe next time I'll say something sooner! lol. I've never really had Japanese before...I wonder what it's like....:)

It's like stir fry .... but all cooked separately and with a dash of fire and fast knife work for excitement LOL

I fiend for Japenese food. I love sushi!!! My mom and I sit and pig out on it on a regular basis!!!
When i was a kid i stuck my hand on a cooking table at Benihana in Orlando. It sizzled just like chicken. The franchise had only been open the weekend. They were so paranoid that my family was going to sue. I remember the guy just flipping out!

Well, here as well!
Thanksgiving's pretty big but our family goes all out of our way to be w/ each other on Christmas day!(I usually end up having to work @least a 4hr shift on Turkey Day and would never dream of it on Christmas! LOL!)

Thanksgiving #1 down. Thanksgiving #2 to go. :D
Thankfully Turkey is one thing i do like!

Last night was pretty good. It was nice to see everyone and to get out of the house. But i totally over did it. I sat waaaayyy to long and i am paying for it today. But dinner was super yummy. And my nephew Christopher was super cute! My SiL got pictures of him playing in his birthday cake!
So Mark and i are off to my parents later on this afternoon.
Hope everyone has a great one today!

We had our big fat turkey diner last night. The oven had a bit of a situation. it never quite heated enough so dinner was almost 2 hours late waiting on the turkey. But it was worth the wait yummmmmmmmmmmm... This was kind of the last of our thanksgiving dinners for a while with my family. My little cousin will be going to Michigan state for univeristy next year and due to the different tiesm for thanksgiving she won't be able to come back. And because Kev's family does a lot of there family pics at Thanksgiving I'll be goign up there. It was kind of in the backs of everyoens heads about it being the last but we all still had a great time. Martha Stewert would eb mortified at us. We all get nicely dressed, the table looks gorgillious then dinenr comes and one person ahas the buns and asks who wants one and they throw them at who ever wants them. It's all fun though! I love my family time!!! We all live such busy lives that it's very hard to get us all in the same room together, so when we have it, it becomes very special!

Glad it was good for you! I am not a fan of pumpkin pie though, you can have mine ;)

I love Thanksgiving and Christmas because these are the few times we can all get together and not fuss about something (well most of the time) I am looking forward to our Thanksgiving next month.

Not to worry. We'll do it again whenever you get here.

The pinapple boats are their idea of birthday cake. They bang a large gong, come in singing Happy Birthday and bring the birthday person's pinapple boat with 2-3 sparklers.
