Hi All, well, my wedding is only 2 more day's away. Unfortunately, there has been a death in my community, and a wake will be held on the day that I get married. Well, I had a family member call me up, and ask me to cancel my wedding dance. Saying that it would be inappropriate to have a dance on that evening. To keep the peace, I have decided to go along with it. So, I had to book another venue for the dance, as well as give the band a head's up about the change in location. But, on the whole, I could just scream. Anyhow, would anyone else have the done the same?

Personally, I wouldn't have changed it. I don't know how you were supposed to know that this person would pass away! However many might think I am just insensitive. My question is, if you had to move your dance, why couldn't they have postponed their wake until monday or done it on friday. They want you to think about them but when it comes down to it, they could have done things differently too. I am not trying to sound insensitive, but its true. I guess you did what you could and it'll all work out in the end!
Have a good wedding day. Relax, breath and enjoy it!! I wish you and your husband all the best!!
Wishing you love, happiness and a fairytale ending,

I have never heard of canceling or changing your wedding because someone in town died. There is no way I would have gone along with that. I'm sorry they died but it is still your wedding day to celebrate as you see fit. If you want to dance and party, dance and party. I'm sure the departed person would feel like an a$$ knowing that someone had to cancel their wedding on their part. I mean short of it being mom, dad, sibling, or grandparent I wouldn't change a thing about my wedding. Heck if it was one of them and I felt like I could go on, I probably would. Have the wedding you want and call you insensative relative and tell them to bite you. Asking you to change the most inportant day of your life is the insensative and rude thing!

I completely agree, Lacey. I'm not going to repeat everything that's already been said, other than that I wouldn't have changed it and I agree with the other ladies on this one!! Good Luck, hope it works out for ya!
