Wondering if someone can answer a question I have, Is there a certain time a couple should get married through City Hall before the Religious ceremony? Is it a month before, a week?
How big of a deal should I make the Civil wedding?
I would appreciate anyone shedding some light on this issue.

If you are having a religous ceremony, you only need to go to city hall for the liscence. After you get that, the officiant will fill out the liscence and stuff.

How big of a deal should I make the Civil wedding? Usually there isn't a "big deal" made of the Civil Ceremony at City Hall. There are no bridesmaids or groomsmen, no guests, not a big to-do. Doesn't mean that this ceremony is not important or that a Religious ceremony is more important or better. They're just different ways to reach the same goal -- to become married. You will need to get the marriage license prior to the Civil Ceremony. Check with your local marriage license bureau, as each state (and even the counties within a state) have different requirements.

After the civil ceremony, you can have a reception if you wish. Or you can wait until after the Religious ceremony to do this.

Is there a certain time a couple should get married through City Hall before the Religious ceremony? From a legal standpoint, there is no set time that you have to wait. However, the person who will be performing the religious ceremony may have certain requirements, so it would be best to contact him/her as soon as possible so you can plan accordingly.
