Hello Everyone! Im new! I wanted to start a journal about my life with Ryan! So here it goes!
It was snowing on December 31st 2005 while I was working as a part time waitress at a high class restaurant. My boyfriend at the time was at my house sleeping. I was nineteen and didn't want any part of that relationship with him anymore. We broke up more than plenty of times. It was a dead thing we had. I mean, come on, who doesn't want to come out to see his girlfriend at a nice bar while the new years ball is being dropped?!
Well to make this story a little shorter, the drop finally happened and it was very exciting because, I worked for Greeks and this was the first new years for the new restaurant. With everyone kissing everyone else I kind of stood off in the corner. It wasn't very busy so I asked my boss if I could leave (depressed as i could be). Ofcourse he let me go and so i left. As i was getting into my car i noticed i had a missed call from my girlfriend. i called her back and to my surprise she was actually still out. She told me where she was so i decided to meet her there. She also told me that someone there wanted to meet me. "thats wierd".
When i got there I noticed a guy leaning back on his barstool, casually, like he owned the place or something, and smiling over my way. My first reaction was thinking there was something wrong with me or this guy was just trashed. Well I seen my friend and she was talking to me a little and then she said I want to introduce you to someone. She introduced me to her boyfriend’s best friend. At first I was like no way was she doing this! I had a boyfriend all ready, but I guess everyone knew including my girlfriend, Brenda, that he was totally not worth it, except me of course. Have you ever been in a relationship where you always think the person is going to change, and it’s just not happening?
Yeah, So anyways, to make this story even ten times shorter…
His name was Ryan and he was a total match for me. Everything we ever did in life, how we were raised, our beliefs, our views on different things was the same. And not only that, but we lived in the same development as kids and played on the same street and never knew it. I guess because I was ten and he was sixteen. Talk about destiny, fate, circumstance or whatever…that was it. Then it hit me. I have a boyfriend. Well I will be honest and say that Ryan and I hit it off that night, shared our first kiss, and I still went home to my boyfriend. Three weeks later our relationship ended (with other help) and I started to see Ryan.
I have never dated a guy before that was so smart and intellectual that I decided for my parents to meet him. They loved him. In fact my father said, “Are you sure you like him?” Like I said, I have always dated idiots in the past.
So that is how we met.
A year and three months later...
It was the beginning of spring and I was so sick. High fever stuffy nose, don’t feel like doing your hair sick. SICK! But of course we had this huge dinner planned out for Ryan’s parents in Philadelphia at a nice classy restaurant. And of course I had to get dressed up. He was wearing a suit and we lay in my bed all morning and early afternoon discussing what I should wear and he didn’t say a word. So finally narrowing it down to the last second I decided to throw on a suit pant outfit. BLAH!
It was Ryan’s parents’ 45th anniversary dinner party and we were treating them to a nice late lunch/dinner. Oh how could I be so dumb? Last year their anniversary wasn’t in April?! Stupid me didn’t think about that. Right before we left my mom asked me if I was sure I wanted to go and if I felt OK enough and I just shrugged it off and said what else could I do. She handed us a card for his parents and we were off.
I had to drive because Ryan had lost his license and was suppose to get it back today but didn’t (=LONG STORY). On the way to the restaurant ryan faked a phone call in front of me saying that his parents were running late. They were coming from Maryland. So we got to Philadelphia (fifteen minute drive for us) and parked in a parking garage. He asked me what I wanted to do and I told him "I don’t know, walk?" So as we were walking down Market Street, (where the park is and all the horse and carriage ride/tours are), a lady on top of a carriage asked us if we wanted a lift. All of them always ask so ofcourse I thought he was going to say no like always (and I always wanted to ride on one). And he turned to me and said “Do you want to?..since your sick and all…” and DUH we did.
But what I didn’t know is that he had already called the place and had it scheduled for that carriage to be in that spot and for that lady that he already talked to before to be there and ask me if I wanted to go on a ride!Amazing.
So this ride was abnormally long and I asked when it was going to be over and she said this horse is really slow so we will go around a couple of blocks more. I looked at Ryan and said, “Are u sure your parents are running that late?” He just smiled. Something was weird.
After an hour and some change we arrived on the block of where we first started and we get up to get off the carriage and I turn to step down and he says “Not that way, this way”. As I turned around I find him on one knee on the carriage with a three carat gorgeously made diamond ring that he designed especially for me. I don’t know why but I just started to cry so hard. (must have been because of the meds)
After he proposed I looked up and saw my parents and his parents video recording the entire proposal. There was a huge applause from the street and crowd surrounding us. It was a truly emotional moment. Then after staring at my ring and wiping the tears away we went to a reserved garden in society hill to take post-proposal pictures with the parents. Then we had a huge dinner at an italian restaurant with the family.
Pictures to come!
