Well I have been lurking as I have said for awhile so I thought i would start my own wedding journal. :)
We are have a spring wedding with Daisies being a main theme. The colors we are using are black and yellow.
We originally were going to get married in August of 2007 but I am impatient and Nick wanted a spring wedding so we change it just today actually. haha. So we are super excited and still have TONS to plan.

Welcome! That was our second date choice - we were going to go out to Vegas and have a superstar wedding there, but certain people (my dad) wouldn't go with us :( So we were almost date twins! Can't wait to read more!

Alright, here is our proposal story, I love sharing it.

I just graduated from College in May, when Nick and I decided to head to Alaska for a end of the year, Yea Katy for graduating trip. We had it planned for about 9 months, we were so excited we were going for a week and were planning on going fishing, bike riding, hiking, site seeing and seeing his friend who has moved out there. This was Nicks dream trip, he had always wanted to go and was SOO excited to be heading out there.
We left on a Monday, the monday after I graduated and had a LONG plane ride. We finally got there, found our hotel and wanted to crash. But the problem with Alaska is in May it stays light for 22 hours or something. So we were wide awake and decided to explore. Nick had this red backpack he took with him on the trip and had as a carry on. We decided to go for a walk and he INSISTED on taking it with him, I was like uh OK.... So we came back and went to bed. The next day we went around Alaska and he took that bag again, I was getting irritated because it was SOOO big and I kept asking him WHY he needed to take it with us everywhere. He took it on a boat tour as well. So anyway, the next couple of days were amazing we went kayaking, boating, hiking etc.
on thursday we headed to this gorgeous beach in Kenai with Mount Mckinley in the background and Nicks red backpack in the back seat. I was irritated about something and wanted to see the beach. It was GORGEOUS, it really took my breath away. Nick decided after walking forever he had to go back to the car and pee. He was getting really nervous and was fidgety. I sat on a log and just looked at the ocean. It was gorgeou.s He came back and asked if I wanted to go sit on a large rock?!?!?! I kinda thought maybe he was going to ask me, but wasn't sure.
So I was on the rock and he said he wanted to give me something he wanted to give for awhile, here we go a ring.. He handed me a plastic bag and I opened it, inside was an italian charm bracelet charm, Iwas said thanks and didn't even look at it. I finally read it and it said "Will U marry me?" I just started crying so hard. I then looked up and he had the ring in his hand to put on my finger and he had tears in his eyes I go "Are you asking" he said yes and i said yes. It was the most perfect day!!!

Your engagement story is really nice! I love that he gave you a charm bracelet! That is such a neat idea! Alaska sounds amazing! Congratulations!
I can't wait to read more of your journal!

Thanks, I was floored. I had been bugging for a ring for a little while, but didn't expect it then. I called my mom and she was like, I was wondering when he was going to ask. haha. I called my best friend, she didn't pick up the phone but I screamed into it, I AM ENGAGED. My dad was less then thrilled, but that is another day. Needless to say the rest of the trip was SO much fun and that red backpack disappeared. haha. On the way home to Vermont, I couldn't wait to buy bridal magazines, I bought two at the airport. haha

Thanks! Our colors are black and yellow. Our theme is daisies as I have said because they are my FAVORITE flowers. So my bouquet is going to have yellow roses and daisies. Bridesmaids are going to just have daisies and groomsmen just have yellow roses for a boutinnere (SP?) The grooms are going to wear pinstripe tuxes with Yellow vest and tie. (SO handsome) Then bridesmaids are going to wear something like those dresses with black kitten heel shoes.
Flower girls are going to wear yellow long dresses with black sashes. My mom is going to make those. I didn't want a 4 year old and a 1 year old wearing black.. Seemed not right. I am going to get them black ballet slippers though. :)

Hello Ladies,
Well last night I made a list of all the things i have to do... Scary really. but I know we can do it. :)
Sent in second deposit for the reception area. It got moved up since we moved our date. It is due in October and my mom being the kindest women ALIVE, she sent in the deposit for us! YEA. SOO real now. The first one was kinda just like ehh whatever, but the second deposit really makes it seem like it is coming soooo fast. :) Our second deposit for our original date was like in December or something.. That moved fast. haha.
This weekend we are moving into our NEW house. We are sooo happy. Then the weekend after is the applefest here in Vermont. After that we are dedicating weekends mainly to weddings. Scary huh??
Here is a picture of my gorgeous mother and my MOH... :)

NicksBride
10-02-2006, 11:57 AM
uh work, work and work. But we just moved into a new house and we are trying to make htat somewhat functional. haha. Its hard to unpack, I hate it really. But this week we should have everything squared away. :) This morning is the first time our puppy will be left home alone all day. Usually we take him to puppy daycare, but today we are trying him home alone. I am assuming we will find little treats for us on the floor. Luckily FH will get home first. Then this weekend we are going to the applefest.. (Sorry, that was way longer then I intended sorry.)

haha I know FH will be like that too. We will be like kids fighting over it. Is 6 months to early to register?

mrsliberty
10-02-2006, 03:49 PM
We started registering at 9 months, but that's just because we were bored that day. We have to go back and make sure they still have the items we registered for, but we can do that online. I think 6 months is a good time out, that way your shower will be prepared for, depending on when/if you're having a shower. :)

Thanks everyone. Well my first vent on here I think...

ALright, so I have a friend who I have been friends with for 11 years, she is my very good friend and i wanted her to be my MOH, but she is really unreliable and never really calls much, so I had my mom be my MOH because we are best friends and she is really into this whole wedding thing. But I asked my other friend (Emily) the one I haev known for 11 years to be my bridesmaid anyway because I want her to be a part of my wedding. So I just bought a house (YEA) and we moved in saturday and i wanted her to come over, have dinner and see the ne wplace. She was leaving for china the next day and I really wanted to discuss weddings wtih her since my wedding is in SIX MONTHS. SO she never called over the last few weeks, she drove down to Boston to party with someone I hate and didn't even make time to see me for DINNER. I was soo mad, So I said to myself if she didn't call sunday before she left she was out of the wedding, well sunday came and went and now it is wednesday she is off toCHina and she never called me ONCE. I was SOOO hurt and upset I wanted her out of the wedding and now i am down ones bridesmaid. :( SO I was going to ask my other good friend Holly who is 33 and the mother of my godchildren. She is realyl sweet and I love her. Unfortunately she dosen't get alon gwith my cousin who knew her when she was in school and they can't stand each other. SO my grandmother called and my mom told her Holly was going to be in the wedding and she went nust, asking why I wasn't asking my cousin (Who dosen't know me OR nick) She said it was a terrible Idea and I couldn't have holly in my wedding party. EXCUSE ME, WHOSE WEDDING IS THISSS? I already have to change teh time of the wedding because NIcks parents didn't want an evening wedding, I had to change the date because Nicks sister wasn't going to make it, and now I can't have the bridesmaids I want?? I am so upst right now, I just don't know what to do. This isn't my wedding anymore this is my grandparents and his parents wedding! ARHG :sob:

Deep breath Katy. You were right, this is YOUR wedding. YOU get to pick who your BMs are. If anyone else has a problem with it, tough! I tried to please a lot of people in planning my wedding and it seemed like whenever I wanted anything my way people got upset. But ya know what, they all got over it. Everything will be fine, trust me!

BriansBride07
10-04-2006, 09:38 AM
I hear where your coming from you should be able to have whoever you want in your wedding, after all it is your day, not your parents or grandparents. I have also had this problem with selecting my b. party, as it came out one of the bestmen and the MOH can't stand each other but in the end they are willing to at least walk down the isle together but refuse to link arms, they also refuse to dance together during the BP dance, problem solved we will just switch it up a little. Enough said about me sorry, point being do what you want and what is going to make you happy and the rest will fall into place. best of luck to you.

I seriously think that the word Wedding causes insanity is some people! There are some people who refuse to allow the bride and groom to do what makes them happy. It's as if they will do anything possible to make sure it's what they want and not the couple wants. They've either never been involved in a wedding before or they weren't happy with their wedding so they want to make it what they wanted.

You should ask who you want to be in the bridal party. If someone doesen't like it. To bad. YOU have to like it. These people will be in all your pictures and are a major part of the day. I would hate for you to look at your pictures and wish that someone eles was there instead.

Take care hun! I wish you luck in sorting out the bridal party and getting everyone to understand you're wishes! :grinhappy:

NicksBride
10-04-2006, 12:13 PM
Thanks Jennifer.. I want that same thing too. I don't want my cousin in the pictures. Of course i am going to invite her, but that is going over the top asking me to have my cousin be in there because she dosen't like one of my bridesmaids? UGHHH

My mom wrote me the most "touching" email too...

OK
You're mad at me. I understand. Do what you want. I really don't care. Personally, I
would much rather have Holly. This family bull**** drives me crazy. Who cares - it's
one day. Abrah wouldn't want to wear a dress anyway. **** it.

Well I haven't been around for awhile and I saw Laurens beautiful fall wedding and then other brides planning I decided to buckle down and really start organizing. I have 5 months to go and so much to do!!!
We are doing food testing on Nov.22nd which I am really excited about. Then this weekend on Nov.11th I am going to my first bridal show!!! So very excited. After that we are doing cake testing!! I am going to be so full. :)

We just got our Tux contract done. and that is about all we have done. I will post more later.

I was just wondering were your from...I'm from Massachusetts and didn't know if you were too after reading your post about your friends driving down to Boston...

And here goes....

Love the venue place. Very very pretty.

My vote is for the first save the date depending on the elegance and formality of your actual wedding.

Registries are sooooooooooo much fun..I loved watching it the best :)

Sorry to hear about all the trouble with bridesmaids. It's your wedding, plan it yourself and the way you want it.

Have fun at the Bridal Show...I won alot of stuff from going to those things, including a gym membership :( LOL No honeymoon for me. just a gym membership, and when I went one the second week I tore my ACL and had to have Knee surgery!!!! Some Prize!!

Anywho...Happy planning..Toodles

Hey everyone,
wow it seems like I have been gone forever, everyone is moving on and getting married and I have just been pulling my hair out.
First off Congrats to you ladies having babies, I am jealous and so very happy for you!! Congrats on you recent ladies who got married, the pictures I am seeing are gorgeous and giving me lots of ideas!!!!

So we went to a bridal show! I won a ski trip to Utah and $100 gift certificate to a furniture store and got GREAT ideas!!!!
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n11/sundance89/00tins.jpg
We decided to go with these tins and fill them with mints and have personalized stickers put on them. thanks to the bridal show we were able to find really inexpensive ways to give our guests what they wanted and PLUS they had a chocolate fountain that we could eat! OH MY GOODNESS, it was to die for. To bad I can't have that. But it was fun to try!!!!

The food testing was AMAZING. They set up the table like it will be for the wedding with different kinds of napkins to choose from, we chose the one closest to the camera.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n11/sundance89/Picture080-1.jpg It was amazing. We picked Salmon, turkey dinner, and pasta with sundried tomatoes. We talked about timing of the reception and dancing and cake cutting etc. It is fantastic. We were sooooo excited.
Then after thanksgiving which was SOOO good, we went bridesmaid dress shopping. Now when I got there the girls were just going to get fitted for the dress I had picked out a month before. NIcks sister had already got fitted for that dress and we were ready to get fitted for that dress. So they brought out ANOTHER dress for my bridesmaid to try on that was just in her size so they could see the fit and she came out. I started crying and got all shaky, it was PERFECT!!!!!!!!
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n11/sundance89/Picture103-1.jpg
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n11/sundance89/Picture102.jpg
So right then and there we changed the dress!!!
Much more to update on but this post is getting long.

NicksBride
11-28-2006, 08:10 AM
Update-continued

We also met with a florist and this is going to be my Bouquet with a few daisies embedded. My MOH is going to have the same one but smaller, and then my Bridesmaids are going to just carry daisies.

I got a call from the bridal store today, the dresses will be in the beginning of Febuary. So MUCH earlier then I thought. I am really happy. Of course if they didn't order the RIGHT DRESS..:hothead: I will not be happy.

We were late to get to the place, Nick was being such a JERK blaming me for getting lsot and not understanding that this is a private person doing this so finding her house is really hard in teh dark. THEN, we get there adn teh women was NOT that nice adn the cakes were NOT that good, but since she is in our package for our wedding we haev to use her. Then we couldn't agree on a cake, it was just awful. I thought it was going to be so much fun adn it turned into a disaster. UGH!!!!

Oh no so sorry that just plain stinks.. Well just buck up and deal with the bad tasting cake. Or you could order a much smaller bad tasting cake from her and then buy a sheet cake or a couple not sure how many are going to your recep. at your local baker or local grocery store. And hide the sheet cake(s)
in another room or in the kitchen and then don't feed to many people the bad tasting cake. I hope it all works out for you in the end. :)

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Is there any way you could take to somone who deals with your package to tell them you are not satisfied with the cake lady? You shouldn't have to pay for something that is less than satisfactory.

Sorry you had a crappy cake tasting. On the other hand all your plans look fantastic and all that is more important than the cake anyway. It will all work out.

11-30-2006, 11:53 PM
I agree with Kacie, tell the site coordinator or whoever that the cakes are not good and you refuse to pay for something that bad!

Next time use Mapquest. :)

I hope you feel better!

Thanks ladies for the help. I am going to speak to my coordinator about the package and see what can be done, I mean it wasn't BAD but it really wasn't what we expected after paying so much. We shall see what happens when i speak to her today.
The cake will look very nice I hope, but who knows about the taste, I do not want a sour puss face when I eat my cake. Lets hope that does not happen.
Mapquest didn't even have her address on the map, they said to take all these back roads and such. It was very aggrevating. seh told us to head up a dirt road and she is the house with the lights on. Well the road forks and both houses had their lights on. We told her to get a bigger lit up sign and make it more noticable. I do not think she liked that response.
Anyway, this weekend Nick has guards so I am off to the florist to do Centerpieces!

Nick just called and said his boss is going on a cruise on April 12th for the 20th and there is no way he can take a day off from work since he is the only one who does his work. So basically we cannot leave for our honeymoon a day after our wedding because we wouldn't ge tback till the 13th and we cannot take the April 14th cruise because his boss isn't going to be back. UGH, i am sooo mad right now. Then Nick is trying to get a job at the police station and if that happens then he leaves in January for the police academy and then we will haev to wait 6 months for a honeymoon. I know he really wants this job but I just hate how this wedding is turning into something that I don't want!!! I didn't get the date I wanted, the time I wanted, the theme I wanted or even the bridesmaids I wanted. I am being a brat I know ebcause he has wanted this job for so long, but BAD TIMING for it and I really really wanted a honeymoon after our wedding and now we will have to wait until NEXT YEAR to have one if he gets into the police academy because of time off and such. I am just soooo angry right now, I don't even know what to say to him.

Why would his boss take a cruise right after your wedding? Seems inconsiderate, doesn't he figure that's when you guys would be gone??
I'm so sorry!!

That is really cr*ppy that Nick's boss takes a vacation so close to your wedding! Guess who just got cut from the guest list?!

Could you do a shorter cruise? Or maybe do a 3 night thing somewhere a little closer.

No matter what it will work out and you will be blissful! We still haven't had a real honeymoon b/c of work stuff too.

yea i know, but we are bummed. We knew he was going on a cruise AROUND that time, but he told Nick that we were Ok to go after our wedding. GRR. Oh well, guess we are gonna have to kick some butt :icon_barbar: hahaha.

On another note we were looking into other things and there is a five-star resort on the Riveria Maya in Mexico that I guess is GORGEOUS and we can do that for a really good rate. So we will go, just not sure when. I hope to go before we forget about it and return to our other lives. :)

well I have been so into other people and their journals i forgot about mine. :)
Not much to report. Nick is still waiting to hear about the police academy and whether or not he will be leaving for 6 months in Febuary, if he is then we will not have a honeymoon which I am really bummed about, but this is something he wants, so we will see.
Other news my dad bought tickets to come to my wedding along with my grandma and uncle so it is getting so real now that people are actually coming along and buying tickets to come. I got my garter which is blue and I am just waiting for my bridesmaids dresses to come in so I can find a seamstress and find shoes and such. I have to do that before i get fitted. HOpefully we can do that sometime next month, and get the invites all made as welll so we can send those out in Febuary. We need a final head count by march 23rd so we can to get them out early. I am getting SOOO excited!

Thanks everyone!!! That was the one time when our dogs were actually cooperating. :)

It is nice to know about the airplane tickets, but now I have to add in a few more hours of the day on Friday to go and get people from the airport, as if I am not busy enough on that day. hehehe ( I am excited to see them, but would like if someone else could go and get them) But it is alright. That day I am going to get my nails done and get everything ready in the morning and then I will go and get them when they come in at 4:30 to rush back to get ready for the rehearsal. Perhaps I will be already dressed for that, and that way we can ALL head there and get it done. Who knows, I have 108 DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:pompom:

It's crazy that we're getting this close! You're under four months! The time is passing so quickly and I know it will go even faster after the holidays :)

I get a little blue around this season too, so much is going on... it's like there's just not enough time in any day to do everything you want and to see everyone. I come from divorced parents, so I already have 4 sets of families to visit, plus Tim's family!

Let me know if you need anything :)

TOday is our office christmas party where we get to eat to much food, play board games and pretty much just screw around until noon, so that should be fun!!
Then this afternoon I am going trucking with NIck and then tonight we are going to cuddle and watch "Brokeback Mountain" SHould be good, I have never seen it but heard it was pretty good.
Last night I was talking to Nicks mother who is a mean mean mean lady and she said she just wanted to do small appetizers now instead of a real dinner, UGH. That women is going to be the death of me yet. She iddn't want to "Spend to much money on her sons wedding" AKA she wants to save money on her daughters proper catholic wedding then our joke of a wedding that is not being done in a church! UGH since when is that a necessity for weddings. She drives me insane.
I asked her the other day what she was getting NIck so that we didn't have a repeat of last year where we got him the SAME THING (Digital camera) She writes back and says TRUST ME YOU DIDN"T. UGHHHHHH! That women kills me!!!

WEll Christmas has come and gone.. It is sad to see it go, but it is always fun to see what else is to come!!
I was talking to my mom last nighta nd was thinking about the wedding. December is almost done, January is a long month but we haves to do, Febuary we need to get the invites done and in the mail and its a short month and lots going on. Then March is here and by the 23rd we need to have EVERYTHING done for the reception hall to have place settings, favors, and everything set. By then its April and my wedding!!!!!!!
In between that we need to get fittings, the bridesmaids dresses, shoes, gifts, rehersal dinner, honeymoon (LAS VEGAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) License, write our vows.. SOO Much to do and just a little over three months to do it. I cannot believe it is coming so fast!!!

ladymelissa
12-27-2006, 05:19 PM

Thanks, we will see what happens.

I got a call from the bridal store and the bridesmaids dresses are going to be in at the end of January, I think I am not going to go through with the store doing the alterations I am going to find a private person to do that, I do not want to have to wait another month or so for them to send it back and forth to get alterations done.. We shall see I guess what deals I can get for doing all the dresses at the same place and time. I just cannot wait to see all the girls in their dresses. FH is going to get fitted for his tux in the middle of January to see what looks best, I am sure they will all look VERY handsome.
I have also decided to have my dad walk me down the aisle. I was wodnering if I was going to or not since my mom and him hav enot talked in about 13 years, but he is my father regardless of our past and I will regret it later in life if I never had my father walk me down the aisle. I do haev that fantasy of the perfect father which mine is not, but he is my father and I am lucky enough to haev him around right now. So I know that when the day comes and I have not hugged him in a year, I will want that closeness to be there. I cannot wait to see him!

I have been playing around with wedding vows.. Let me know what you all think...:ginger:

Friends and family, we all have been invited here today to share with Katy and Nick a very important moment in their lives. Everyone here has shared in their lives and today they want to share this moment as they become husband and wife.

Marriage is a promise, made in the hearts of two people who love each other, which takes a lifetime to fulfill. Within the circle of its love, marriage encompasses all of life’s most important relationships. A wife and a husband are each other’s lover, teacher, listener, critic, and best friend. It is into this state that Katy and Nick wish to enter.

Nick please repeat after me:

I Nick take you Katy to be my wife, I promise to love you when you drive me crazy, to respect you when we disagree, to support you if bad times come our way and to always remember how grateful I am to have you by my side.

Katy please repeat after me:

I Katy take you Nick to be my husband. I promise to love you when you drive me crazy, to respect you when we disagree, to support you if bad times come our way and to always remember how grateful I am to have you by my side.

The rings which you are about to exchange are an outward symbol of your inward promise that each of you had made to one another this day. They are your constant reminders that your hearts, minds and souls are forever taken.
When you are separated and lonely, the ring will always bring your hearts close to one another. It allows you to simply turn it quietly on your fingers as you are saying “I love you” the ring is a symbol of the unity into which two lives are now joined; an unbroken circle wherever you go, you will return to each other.

Now Nick and Katy please hold onto to one another’s left hand.

Nick: With all that I am, take this ring as a sign of our neverending love, I hope it is something that you will always cherish, as I will always cherish you. I love you.
Katy: With all that I am, take this ring as a sign of our never ending love, I hope it is something you will always cherish, as I will always cherish you. I love you.

Katy/Nick say a few things…..

And now, that you have taken your vows each to the other, and have declared the same by giving and receiving rings. It is my pleasure to pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss your bride.

It is my pleasure for the first time, to announce Mr. and Mrs. B

I think they are beautiful. What stands out to me is that they are written to be contingent on negative events, there is nothing wrong with that but that is the first thing that came to my mind.

Geez, So yestarday I found out one my of Exboyfriends fiance was going on another forum that I was on I would go to Weddingsolutions.com and post stuff there. So I got a call yestarday from this girl who is my exboyfriends fiance and apparently she found out through the grapevine that I was posting there. So she was threatening me over E-mail stuff bagging on what was going on with my posts there and such. So I finally decided just to do a post stating on Weddingsolutions that I wasn't going to be around and I wouldn't checking E_mails and saying goodbye to thsoe girls who have been friends with for awhile. SO I figured that they would all get the message and realize that somethign happened and forget about it. Well I jsut went back on to see what was going on but not post and someone found out I was here and posted that I was here! ARGHHHHHH! So now, I may have to stop posting here as well if that girl has her way and wants to find me. ARGHHHHH! It is so frusturating. All I want is to post my wedding ideas and go on from there. Oh well, guess I live and learn adn if my exboyfriends fiance decides to track me here I will have to just give up wedding forums all together. :( BOOOOO

:( BOOOOO

aww you all are soooooo sweet. :)

Last night was lovely, we went to dinner with some friends and then we went to see "The Holiday" THE CUTEST movie I have seen in a long time. you have got to go and see it. The movie was done around 12:05 AM, FH and i shared a kiss at the movie theater and then went home, took care of our zoo and went to bed. It was very nice and glad that everyone is safe. I always worry since my brother is a BIG drinker and always feels the need to get drunk. I hate that about him and I really hope that at my wedding he does not feel that need. Espically since my wedding starts at 11:00am I really hope he contains himself. But he always worries me on New Years because he drinks and then feels the need to drive sometimes I really hate it. But I never got a message or something so I consider that good. Its scary and my mom always stay up and wait to hear something, morbid I know but it just doesn't make sense why he has to do that.
Oh well, just glad FH and I are not big drinkers. We drink a girly drink and that is enough for us. hehehehe Happy New Year Everyone!!!

I think I just had a mini panic attack about all the things I need to get done in three months. I work for a probation office and I am a probation officer, we give kids three months to get stuff done and I know how fast that goes. I was writing out a deadline for one of my clients and it said January 6th!!! I won't be here first and second I get married the NEXT DAY!! I have SOO Much to do and so little time to do it. I was reading something about where we should be right now three months out and I have NOTHING Done. I don't even know what shoes we are wearing, the bridesmaids dresses are not in yet, we have NO gifts for our attendants.. AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!! last night I made a list of all the things I need to get done. (I am a freak about lists and post-it notes hahah) But it is LONG and daunting, but I am sure if I just tackle a few at a time I will be OK. How many of you ladies tanned before you got married? How often and when did you start?
How many hair and makeup trials did you have? When did you get that done?
Where do I find cute cheap shoes for the attendants. I want to wear white flipflops that are cute, I want the bridesmaids to wear black shoes, all the same but I just cannot make up my mind....
Is money clips engraved with their initials an OK gift for two ushers and ones groomsmen? (We have 4 groomsmen one being his father and we are not going to get him anything for that we are going to get hims omething good for helping with the wedding. Then we are going to get my brother and his best man a flask with their intials and his other groomsman is SUPER religious and we thought a flask wasn't good, so we wanted to get him and Nicks two ushers a money clip....) Is a money clip an OK gift????

THanks Ladies!!!

The dress and shoes are great, both very pretty!!

As far as tanning, I think I started three months before the wedding. You can always call a tanning salon and see what they say!! :D It will also depend on how well you tan, or how easily you burn! lol.

Good luck!

01-04-2007, 03:34 AM
That dress is so elegant, I love it! The shoes would look okay b/c they match the color, but I cannot say that I am a big fan of the flip flop style. They may even be somewhat painful to wear all day, I prefer a little more support, especially when I am going to be standing, walking and dancing for hours and hours. You could ask your BMs for their opinions about that.

I had one hair trial and basically one makeup trial. I did try 3 different shades of lipstick and took pics in all of them so I could see how they photograph and then the photog's opinion was the one I went with.

The money clip is a fine gift.

Thanks ladies
Melissa I guess I have to agree with you on that one, the shoes anyway. :) I will ask my bridesmaids. What else would be appropriate? I don't want them to really have a heel because most people in the grooms party is very short, hehe. Any other options besides sandals? Perhaps just plain cute flat flipflops? You won't see their feet anyway.
Thanks for the compliments on the bridesmaids dresses, they all seemed to like them better then the other dress so that is all that matters I guess right?

LOL if my BM's and MOH could have their way they would be going barefoot. I could give two hoots. noone will see their feet anyway. But FMIL won't budge on the deal and has refused to come ect. if it happens. I say go for the flip flops or whatever they are comfy in. I love the BM's dresses to btw.

Have you thought of having ballet slippers instead of flipflops? I done this at my first wedding because my dress was only to the bottom of my feet before i even put on heels. They were very comfortable and no one could see them either.

NicksBride
01-04-2007, 03:25 PM
hmmm, I think what my FMIL is scared of that the sound of flopping down the aisle will be to overbearing hahaha. So I guess I will look into ballet slippers as well, they are really comfortable, I just do not want anyone stepping on a rock with those things, that does hurt. hehehe Thanks for the suggestion!!!

Since our BM dresses were floor length I just let them wear any shoes they wanted to, as long as they were black and dress shoes to some degree. (not athletic shoes) I didn't care if they were open or closed toe, heels, flats or anything like that.

Well Today I am off to the florist to see what they can do for me for my flower centerpieces for the table. We get it for a package deal, I am kinda scared to have them do a centerpiece, I mean it is something will be looking at and I just am really nervous with just three more months to go. I am having jitters of trying to make the day PERFECT! I want it just to go off without a hitch which I know it will, but I was thinking the other day how FAST time flies. In November I was talking to my brothers fiance who is getting married in September and we were talking about how after the holidays things are really going to start happening! I mean I just cannot believe how fast things are happening! My bridesmaids dresses shouold be in in about a month and then febuary is such a fast month and a busy one with Nicks birthday, and work getting really busy.I just had my 6 month anniversary at work as well, I feel like I just started there. I am already righting out tickets at work for their contract to be finished in 90 days, THREE MONTHS!!!!! For some I won't be there for their deadline and completion of probation, I will be GETTING MARRIED!
Its crazy, so today we are heading to the florist then my mom and I are looking at invitation fonts that would work well on our invitation and then I am coming home to clean. :)
Wish me luck!!

Thanks everyone, I just cannot believe it. I mean I am a small town girl from Vermont, NEVER in a million years did I think I would EVER be getting married OR going on a cruise with the most amazing man. It brings tears to my eyes to realize how lucky I truly am. Granted we will be in debt for a few months, but really it is SOOo worth it!! I just cannot stand it.
I tell people who I have not seen in quite some time that I am getting married and they are like REALLY? I used to be this geeky, braces wearing, 250 pound ackward little duck and didn't have my first boyfriend until I was 18 and my first kiss when I was 18. I really just always DREAMED of getting married and now with three months to go it is a reality. I sometimes do not think I deserve any of this, but I am so lucky to have the life I lead.
(Sorry, i get sentimental when its that time of the month. )

That is actually a very good idea, IMO. You get to relax after the wedding, get everything back in order and then pack and go on the HM; instead of trying to cram everything in before the wedding. If the HM was right after the wedding then you get back and have wedding stuff to sort through, suitcases to unpack and there is inevitably laundry to do after a trip.

I totally agree. Hindsight is 20/20, but I wished I would have at least waited until the Monday after to leave than the day after. My house is still not back in order and it was crazy trying to get everything packed a long with the wedding stuff together. I can't believe I didn't forget something important. It's a miracle.

This way you'll have time to think about what you want to pack and get your place back in order.

I understand your pain with the drinking and being close to a relative. My uncle did the same thing for most of his life. Thankfully when the mixture of the two landed him in the hospital he had to go to rehab. It did help him but maybe b/c he was ready for the help. He goes to AA meeting everyday in different towns around him for the support and doesn't go into any bar rooms and I am a little dissapointed in this b/c he won't be attending my reception b/c of his disease that he has with drinking and med's. The only thing I can suggest is not to preach to much to your grandfather about how he is killing himself he may just drink and take more meds. to heal the pain that he is causing his family so he won't have to think about it. Just listen to him and try to get him to get to the root of the problem of why it started in the first place. I wish you all the best and I hope rehab is able to save him so he will see his grandbaby walk down the isle.

NicksBride
01-10-2007, 10:11 AM
Yea, I know how preaching to him is not going to work. I am going to send him a card because i do love him and know that me wagging a finger at him will not help anything.
I am angry as well that my grandma let it get this far, she KNEW he was drinking and didn't ge thim help. I know they won't go unless they go on their own, but it could have helped if we all knew about it and could ask him to get help. It took him almost dying to get him into rehab and I am thankful that it got him into rehab before he did die, but she is just so into herself she didn't even try to help.
I really hope he can overcome this in three months and get here. I would like to think that he wants to be at the wedding, therefore will get better. but I am going to have my step-mom watch him to make sure he does not drink a the reception. My dad I can't do because he is a raging alcholic and having one alcoholic watch another is not going to be good and I be damned if I have to do it on my own wedding. SO lets just hope it does not come to that. We have AA meetings here in Vermont, may do him good to get to one while he is up for the wedding, heck I will even go with him. UGH, its just to much.
on a lighter note i will be putting pictures of my invites up momentairly. :)

Thanks Amanda and Kacie, it took us FOREVER to glue those darn ribbons on the invites hahaha. But it was worth it, they are sooo cute. We always did the response cards and put labels and stamps on the return card envelopes. So we just need the map to the hotel that my brother is doing for us and then the information for OOT people. WE are getting it done. THen NEXT tuesday we are going to put labels on our candy tin favors and put everything in a box that we need to bring in March to our wedding coordinator to set up for us. She isg oing to love seeing us come in with seating charts, final head count, and about two boxes of stuff we want set up. haha. But I guess that is what we are paying the big bucks for huh?

I love your invites! I love how you have your names on the ribbon, it's a fabulous touch!

Thanks!

I spoke to my dad last night about it and apparently he has been drinking and then one day he fell because his medicine was making him groggy plus the alcohol and that fall landed him in the hospital, they asked him what happened since he was doing so well and he told them he had been drinking and they told him either go to rehab or you will die. I am very grateful that he chose to get some help. Today I am going to send him his favorite hard candies and a card, I know I could be mad at him or disappointed and in no way am I rewarding him for what he has done, but i believe at 76 years old, and to go to rehab, he deserves a little something to help him make the next two miserable months as comfortable as possible or I truly believe he will just kill himself. This isn't going to be easy and I may have to make a trip down to their house to see him, but in the end if he is there for my wedding and my brothers wedding, it will make all the difference.

Today we went to another bridal show and it was kinda a disappointment, I walked out with nothing more then a cute stuffed animal. But it was alright, we went tanning today and went shopping (mom and I) we went home and finished the ring bearer pillow

Then we decided that we are going to send out our invites on Wednesday, w we were going to wait until the beginning of Febuary but they are DONE and they are just sitting on the table waiting for postage, so we decided we are just going to send them out, who is going to tell us any differnet right? It just gives people more time to think about what they want to eat. hahaha. But we are just so excited about getting them out that we just decided to do it now, Febuary is in two weeks anyway right???? I am so super excited. Then next weekend I am doing my first hair trial... I am so excited about that!

I am also sorry to hear about your grandpa, but I am glad that he is going into rehad at his age. I think that is a really great step.

Keep your head up and keep doing thing like you are, because things look wonderful!!

p.s. I am SO jealous of your honeymoon!

Is it odd that my invites are only going to cost 39 cents to ship? I am not complaining, but does that seem right? We have an invitation, a response card and a map to the location.... Seems odd...

thanks! I am getting a bit concerned with the DJ, he has not been returning my E-mails or phone calls. he is a friend of the family, but I would have thought by now he would want to at least sit down and talk about what we want for the wedding.. I guess I am just worrying, but I would like to meet him at least before we settle on some songs to see what he has and what we need to get..... Sometimes Iw onder about people sometimes. ;)

Twigler
01-22-2007, 11:52 AM
haha! I know what you mean about wondering about people sometimes!! There's all kinds out there isn't there!

I am not sure either about the postage amount. Did you get them weighed at a post office to make sure? If that is all that they cost, be glad!!

One question, did you make your pillow?? If so, where did you get your supplies and the pillow itself?

BriansBride07
01-22-2007, 11:54 AM
Your invites look great and congrats on having them done already.. I just love your ring bearer pillow great job.. As for the DJ I know that the one i'm going through doesn't want me to contact them again until 2 weeks before the wedding to give them the final song ideas.

Hi Chelsea, we did make the pillow, we got everything at Joannes fabrics, they had the pillow and the fabric that we needed. It took me about a day to get everything right with the help of my mother of course. ;)

Iwill have to give the DJ a call in about two weeks or so to see whats going on. :)

Be careful with those invites. The post office gave me the wrong amount for my invitations and it was a huge fiasco. I had some that never made it, some did, some were sent back. It was a horrible mess. I would suggest taking them to several post offices because we took them to 2 different ones and they both made the same mistake.

I just got to read through your journal and first have to say I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your shoes. I think that they are so awesome!!!!

Thanks! So, today I am scooting out of work early to re-weigh my invites and then getting postage for them and popping them in the mail tomrrow YIPPEE! I already gave my invites to the people at work, mainly because it really did not seem like I needed to send them when everyone in the office was invited and I am cheap. I know it is tacky to hand them out at work since its kinda like a kiddie birthday party to do that, but I figured it really wasn't a huge deal and they all seemed to enjoy them anyway, reguardless of getting them in the mail or not.
We also got our FIRST RSVP, Nicks friend is currently serving in the army in Kosovo, he is a Helicopter pilot and will be taking a leave for a few weeks at the end of March, so he will be here for our wedding which I am SOO excited about. This guy is the one why we are basically together Nick and I, so it was only fitting that he came. We have not seen him in two years and have only been keeping in touch over Myspace and he RSVP'd! I am sooo super excited.... :)

haha thank you so much!!!
I guess I can already put two no's down, I invited one of my coworkers and her husband, and just recently we had a falling out at work and my boss noticed. He asked me and my other co worker about it, and I explained what happened (She pretty much threatened me at work to the point where I felt unsafe) I told my boss about it and he explained the situation to her and she quit and he pretty much fired her and she blames me for the reason she lost her job, so she is really really pissed at me and upset, not that i really blame her, but I am not going to be unsafe at work. Granted I have only beenhere for 6 months and she is probably thinking who the heck am I, but I have a great relationship with my boss and my other coworker and they understand the issue and do not want me to feel unsafe either. So it really stinks and I can bet after this she will not be coming to our wedding.. UGH, it was really a horrible horrible day. I am still at work and it is 7:30pm.. BLAH

Yea, it just is kinda sad. I mean she is a 62 year old women and she has nothing else she can do but this job.. She thought that we were friends although I told her that everyone is a coworker first and a friend second, she never got that and would tell me things about herself and the office taht I told her I didn't want to know. Finally it got out of hand and I talked to my other coworker about it and he got annoyed.. i felt in some way I snitched and tattle tailed which I felt bad about... But it was scary with her right in my face and that is not how I want to work... UGHHHH

Went grocery shopping and got a call OUR BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES ARE INN! i Went to go look at them and they were PERFECT! So pretty, so the girls can go and get them and get fitted with them next week!!!

Then I got to my moms house and we got TWO response envelopes and 4 people stated they were going to come!!! YEA!
It was a great day in wedding land!!!

Congrats on having a great day! Don't forget the camera for the BM dress fitting!

About the coworker, I think there must have been more complaints about her or something. I find it hard to believe she would get fired over a concern you voiced once (esp. after being asked by the boss), I would think she would have gotten a warning if this was the first and only problem. You have even tried talking to her personally before so it isn't your fault.

Thanks Melissa, the funny thing was when she was away I met with some of her clients and they stated many times that she was LESS then helpful and my boss heard.. I am just deathly afraid of this women because she kept saying how much she trusted me and such... I felt kinda like I betrayed her..oh well, cannot please everyone right?? UGH

Nope, you can't please everyone. And you tried telling her that you are both there to do a job and that is more important than any sort of "friendship." I don't know the details, but some people apparently just don't get it.

I spoke to my brothers fiance and I guess the bridal show I missed stunk so I am glad that I didn't spend money and go.. she said it was just really small and not that much fun.. Oh well, that was the last show before I become Mrs. B.. So funny. :)

As far as the coworker situation goes, she is normal and acting like nothing happened! It is kinda strange and I am waiting for the second shoe to drop anytime now. I have to work late with her tomrrow and I have feeling that is when the poop will hit the fan!!!

See that is why I am worried, my boss told me he was firing her and then she returned.. Turned out that he gave her a paid leave of absence to think about her job here and if she returned with a better attitude she could stay... UMM OK! So here she is back, acting like nothing is wrong! Drives me insane, needless to say I am on the prowl for a new job ASAP!

Sorry to hear about your co-worker. It is never fun when people are rude and make you uncomfortable, especially at work. I feel that you did the right thing by telling your boss and trying to right the situation. Like you said, they are friends, but also co-workers. And you shouldn't feel uncomfortable by any means!

As far as the BM dresses, congrats! I can't wait to see the pictures!!! Also congrats on the RSVPs!

So was the price of mailing the invites correct the first time??

NicksBride

haha yes the postage was right the first time, I was soo excited that it was only 39 cents to send. Even his relatives in Canada got theirs!
We got our first no's, but we knew they were not coming we just sent them one to be nice. hahaha :)

So we are waiting to hear more. Lots of people said they sent them, we just have to wait until we get them, its like christmas.

As far as the coworker, I am on the prowl for a new job. I am tired of it.. Gonna see if the local college is hiring so I can get free tuition!

Last night was a bit scary, just because I didn't know what she was going to do. For the first few minutes when we were alone she said nothing to me! She completely flubbed up the meeting preparation and so I had to take about 20 minutes to fix that before the meeting could even begin. but I didn't say anything although it could haev meant my butt. But I did it anyway. We did not talk all night, she was giving me dirty looks. But nothing really happened. WE said goodnight and that was it!

Last night we got more RSVP's and we finished the favors and my mom finished one flower girl dress. So I have pictures, I will post them tonight!!!! Today we are heading over to see the bridesmaids dresses and I will post those as well!! :)
