http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_2_123v.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxdm824YYUS) They are very much in style these days and have been for awhile, but there was a day when only sailors and ne'er do wells got tattoos.

Is the not-so-bad reputation tattoos are enjoying these days short-lived, or are they here to stay?

Let us know your opinion and please respect the opinion of others.

I feel that tattoos are way more accepted now, but they will never be considered the norm. And I think everything falls out of favor, and tattoos will probably not be popular some day. But I think they will be popular for a long time to come.

IMO, it's all a matter of personal taste and perception. I personally, don't like lots of tats. Others do, and that is a-o-k. At some point society will come down on them again, and then they will become acceptable again. Society does that w everything.

Who cares what others think. If it means something to you, that is all that matter.

Sorry, did that sound rude? I haven't had my coffee yet.:bbeek:

I think they will continue to become more acccepted. I don't have a probelms with them if they are somthing that has meaning to you.

I can't help what our generation will look like when we get old. Between all the tattoos and peircings and such. There may be a big industry of removing and repairing scars from the tattoos and peircings.

I don't like them and I don't have them so I guess I don't really care what someone else chooses to do with their body.

I think tattoos are more common these days, you see them in a wider variety of people. I hope they will continue to be more accepted. But I don't think they will ever be considered 'the norm' and I'm sure they will always be thought of as 'bad' by some people.

Tattoos are tattoos. There is nothing wrong with them, and since they're so widely accepted now, and more and more people are getting them safely, I can't imagine that they will fall into disrespect again.

I think that eventually, they'll be as normal as pierced ears. I mean, ear peircings were considered barbaric. Now you're weird if you don't have them.

I think they will become more and more accepted especially as people my age (24) get into middle age. A good majority of the people I know my age have at least one tattoo. The lower back is very popular on females. I have one there. I just think it will become more accpeted because of the fact that more people of different walks of life have them.

Another contributing factor will be technology. It is expensive to get them removed, but it is not as expensive as it once was. I also heard on the radio about a new kind of ink that only lasts for 6 months. I don't know if it has been approved yet or is available anywhere yet. I think the easier it gets to have them removed or only have them for a set amount of time will also make them more accepted.

Oh, if they can find ink so that it is not permanent, that would make all the difference in the world. My main problem with tattoos is that they are permanent. You might not like the stuff at 50 that you permanently put on your body at 20. :bbconfused:

I agree with you. I have a tattoo on my leg that I am going to get removed after I finish school. I'll probably start the process in the spring.

I think tattoos have become accepted more and will continue to be. I do understand when people wonder how you will like them when you are older. The one I have has meaning and isn't just something random, so I will never not want it. It's all up to preferance. If ya got 'em, ya got 'em..

I'm so-so on tattoos...I want one, but I don't want it to be a in place where everyone can see it all the time, and I want to be able to see it..and that doesn't leave many places! oh well. I think I'd hate it after a year or so anyway! and I've seen how tattoos look on an old person...grooooossssss!

I think it will get to a point that tattoos will have to be excepted. ALOT of people have them. I dont think they will have a bad rep. per say as it is a very normal thing to do these days.

I have one on theback of my right choulder. It looks just as good now as it did OMG 4 yrs ago. I just realized owlong it has been.

I want another. I want a unicorn with wings. I have a picture of one that gives the idea of what I want but it needs to be better. Any one up for taking down m y details and drawing it for me? lol I also have a picture of a spiral rainbow that has very special meaning to me that I want to have as a tattoo some where. I want th unicorn with wings ( called a Unisus (SP?) ) on my lower back. Not sure when I would ever be able to afford it though. But I want that one soooo bad.

I think that they are becoming extremely popular. I want one or two but don't know if I will. A lot of people are having them removed though, for more job opportunities. Depending on where they are located.

I think they are becomming more accepted. My mom works in a nursing home and warns me that when I get old and wrinkled they will just be a big blob. But I still have one and am getting another - but they are on my back and can be covered up for work.

They probably won't be so common and accepted one of these days, but quite frankly my dears, I don't give a ****. I love my tattoos and they are a part of me and I will never be ashamed of them or regret getting them.

I think that they are becoming more popular. I hate that people stereotype others that get them. I myself am to much of a chicken to get one and I hate needles but I would love a small one that has my kids names in it. There are a range of buisness people out there that have them and they do cover them up when they are at work. I think everyone needs to stop judging people over things they do to there own bodies. I think that would be awesome. I want to get a unicorn. It's in my family crest
