Not even close. Nothing about American life is that dramatized or that funny. Maybe a documentary would be more accurate, but not movies or tv.

I don't think so ... TV and movies are dramatizations of particular situations and some are even parodies, it is suppose to be entertainment for us. I can only image what they might think of us if they are using our media as a guide to what our life is like.

I said no and the same thing goes for us up here in Canada. If somebody wantches a show on Canadians they think we live in Igloo's with dog sleds for cars! They also get the idea that we're astupid when in doubt our education is top notch!!!
As for the US, and I'm there a lot, when you watch TV or a movie about the states you automatically get the impression that your power trippers, when that's not the case at all!

I think people get a better picture of Americans by watching the movies than they do from watching reality tv.

For example .... imagine what people might think if could only get Jerry Springer or Judge Judy?!!

Not to worry .... some people think that all Canadians live in igloos and eat whale. Oh I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a juicy piece of blubber ... I think I will put on my touque, harness up the dog sled team, head on down to the river and get me some! LOL

Right on eh! - Yes we do say it .... my US callers tease me all the time but to be fair, a lot of Americans that I talk to say "uh huh" or "huh" quite a bit.

BTW - I refuse to believe that I say abOOOt! I say abOUt, as in the opposite of in - OUT.

touque = winter wool hat. IMHO it must also have a pom pom

Hey Jenn, we should kick back on the chesterfield, crack open a 24 and watch that new car commercial. It features a Newfoundlander car salesman. It has sub titles - it's frickin hillarious!

Ok, I'm glad you brought that up, because you guys sound so funny saying the "ou" sound. lol I can spot a Canadian a mile away when they say those types of words. lol Peter Jennings used to do that too. So you don't do it, Elizabeth? So not everyone in Canada does it?

I swear I don't. I really don't .... but my US callers say that I do. They are liars - the lot of them! LOL Call me sometime and you can judge for yourself.

*Oh I really should go to bed. It's 1:41 am and I am soooo going to be toast tomorrow at work! Enjoy the rest of your evening you folks in the west!*

As ive said before i didnt find Americans (well the ones we met anyways) anything like i imagined them to be, its a big country so obviously people vary greatly thruout it but those we met were friendly and polite. My expectations were formed by TV/film and i expected a load of obnoxious loud people, but then again i have also never met anyone who is the same as the Welsh people portrayed in the media either lol xxx

No seriously, I don't think you are all like "jerry springer"type, If you watched some of our daytime tv, you'd think we're all junkies!

We're not all thin, perfect, and have bleached teeth. All of us don't have insaine kids and not all of us are willing to eat cow brain and testicle smoothies to be on TV...

I know that no one like ME is on TV, anyway....:ooh:
