I need some help thinking of an appropriate attire for a wedding that is semi-formal, not really tux/suit/blazer type stuff, but that doesn't look too dressed down.

See, we live in Texas, and in August (when the wedding is supposed to happen) it is really flippin' hot out, and I don't want to subject my poor groom/groomsmen/best man/ushers to that kind of punishment.

Thanks!

At our wedding in November we didn't want the guys to rent a tux. Instead we felt it would be better to buy them black ties-black pants with a white shirt. This was much cheaper and it looked nice next to the guys in their Army Class A's..we tried the tux thing and no one like the way it look with the uniforms. It didn't look to under dressed in the photos, I can send you one in you would like. Good luck with the wedding.

What about black pants, shirt, tie, and a vest until all picture are taken. Then provide t-shirts to hang out at the reception in. Get cool tees that they'll wear over and over again. Plus they can serve as groomsmen/usher gifts.

I would say a very nice pair of khakis and a good quality cotton button down shirt (long sleeve PLEASE...no on wants to look like Dennis Franz in NYPD Blue in their wedding pictures with those short sleeve button downs). I would also toss on a nice color coordinated tie. Check out J. Crew and Gap they have great pants, shirts, and ties in coordinating colors and patterns. I do a lot of Sean's casual clothes shopping there, especially J. Crew, he loves the cotton shirts (I hate ironing them though!)

This way they will all still match, it will be comfortable, and they can get use out of everything again.

I have been to weddings where the guys just wore a nice pair of slacks and a button down shirt(no tie) and it looked great! That is what my FH is going to wear. He still thinks he is going to wear black jeans and a button down shirt. we'll see..... I just told him if he could put on what he wants to wear and I like it, then he can wear it. He hates tuxes so thats out of the question plus it would look overdressed for our casual wedding.

We're doing tuxes after all. I thought that Carlo wouln't want to, but he doesn't really care.. And we're going with a place that gives him his tux free!

What about this idea?

I am thinking that only the groom be in a tux and the rest of the guys in suits or something different. Saves them money and this is not a formal thing. The girls are wearing dresses all the same very simple style but all different colors. They are also going bear foot. I will stand out from them alot and I was thinking if the guys where to wear something diffent then the groom he would stan dout more.

What do ya think?
