I first met my FH 11 yrs ago in my science class. I was a sophmore and he was a freshmen (i failed earth science the 1st time around). He sat next to his best friend jay in the back of the class I had a seat in the front row. Anyway I just remember thinkin he looks like fun to hang out with. He looked so young though he must've just turned 14. I was dating a 20 yr old. I was 15. Anyway he hung out outside the school with all the smokers and me and all my friends. So for the rest of high school we were just friends we hung out with a bunch of mutual friends and partied alot. When I was 16 my mom passed away suddenly and when I went back to school Kevin had written me a note saying he sorry and that I could have his mother if i wanted. I still have the letter it was so sweet. My senior year I had broken up w my older boyfriend and Kevin invited me camping. I remember we were sitting on the ground talking and he's trying to be all cool. He has a cigarette in his hand and its burning a hole in his shoe. He doesnt realize it he just keeps talking so finally im like "hey your shoe is on fire" he was all embarrased it was so funny we still talk about that. Anyway we only dated for like 2 weeks I kissed him once but I ended up back with my ex. We stayed friends and he always wrote me crazy notes. He has the best imagination.

So I graduated and we saw eachother occasionally. He dated my friend on and off for a few years. They kept getting back together but she kept cheating on him and they'd break up again.

In april of 2004 he was together with my friend and we went to a godsmack concert and ended up kissing. We were really drunk and my friend didnt know so we never said anything. A week later I asked him if he wanted to grab a beer with me so we met at a bar and I decided to warn him about the girl he was with (ya my friend) lets call her K. She always went out with me and whether she was with him or not she acted like the biggest whore. Any time I tried to talk to her about it she'd blame the alcohol and get all defensive. So i gave up. She would kiss guys she didnt even know or do more and beg me not to tell kevin. I never told. So when we went to the bar that night I wanted to warn him that she was cheating like constantly. Not because I wanted to steal him away but because he'd been my friend for a long time and I respected him more than her at that point. He told me he cared about her but knew what she was like (she had sex w his roomie) and he told me he never planned on marrying her. I was relieved Kev is a great guy and I always knew it. I guess he just had low self esteem and thats why he stayed with her. So at the bar that night I made him a list of 20 things that were great about him and i told him to keep it in his wallet and if he ever felt bad to read it. At this point i never thought we'd get together cuz honestly I wasnt super attracted to him.

But we kept hanging out. He'd come over and we'd watch movies and laugh. sometimes he'd stay the night I let him sleep in my bed but he never tried anything. we both liked the company and often we'd fall asleep holding hands. Anyway we hung out alot problem was we both still hung out w k and she had no idea this was going on. I felt bad but we hadnt done anything and i was spiteful cuz she hurt him so much. The 3 of us hung out alot and she never suspected anything. After a while I knew I was fallin for him hardcore. I called my cousin for advice and she helped. It was the hardest thing K was my good friend I didnt want to hurt her. I had bad dreams for awhile. Neither of us wanted to tell her cuz we knew she'd flip out. So we didnt.

On july 31st We went to another concert the 3 of us and some mutual friends who knew what was going on. She caught us kissing and she freaked. I had no idea how she saw us but she did. she tried to beat him up then pretty much ran away she came back and tried to get him to leave with her but he didnt.

Neither of us have spoke to her since. Sometimes I miss her and I feel kinda guilty but she was just not a good person. I hope i dont sound like a boyfriend stealing b***h cuz im really not.

Since we've been together we've had an excellent relationship. I knew after only a few months he was the one. We get along great he always cracks me up. We have a ton in common and so many differences we are always teaching eachother something new. He is sooo smart. I was never good with history and even current events and he knows everything. If I have questions about anything he can always answer them.

The Proposal

We talked about getting married and I looked at alot of rings online. We went ring shopping. I knew i wanted a diamond and pink sapphires but we couldnt find that anywhere. A while passed and we never went shoping again.

This July I was on vacation from the 1st to the 10th. The first day I just hung out at home cleaned and didnt do much. That night he asked me if I wanted to go to Treman park the following day. Ofcouse I did. Treman park is this awesome park I took him to when we 1st got together . Its about an hour south and has waterfalls and gorges. Its breathtaking. So I thought maybe....... On our way I was driving and I realized I could really be setting myself up for disappointment.

We got there and walked through the gorge and toward the big waterfall. We stood there looking at it and he said something about how it was beautiful and I am to. Then I knew. He said do u still wan to marry me and pulled out the ring. At that point I was already crying. He put it on me and I was still nodding cuz I couldnt talk and I couldnt see it cuz I was crying and it was so hot I was sweating my ass off. We hugged and kissed and then a yellow buttrfly kinda flew around us and I kinda felt it was like a sign from my mom, like giving her blessing. I was bawling again. and I am right now. Its funny that that note he wrote me 10 yrs ago kinda came true cuz really he is giving me his mom now. :innocent:

to be coninued (when im not cryin so much)

This one is outside there are fountains and some sculptures.http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i109/nikloveskev/receptionsites002.jpg

This is the gallery where all the tables will be. We went and looked while they set up 4 another wedding. It was really nice.http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i109/nikloveskev/receptionsites010.jpg

This is what they call the sculpture court. I.M. Pei designed it if anyone knows anything about architecture, (i do not) But i do know he also designed that pyramid outside the Louvre :D

This is where the cake, band or dj and dancing will be. Its bigger than it looks in this pic. The balcony I took it from Is the gallery w/the tables will be.http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i109/nikloveskev/receptionsites013.jpg

The venue is beautiful. It reminds me a great deal of the Carnegie here in Pittsburgh. I.M.Pei designed the crystal pyramid outside of the Louvre in Paris. The French hate it because of the modern archtecture in it. I think it is a beautiful spin on the ever evolving city. So with that, I think your venue is fabulous.

The gorge where Kevin proposed to you is breathtaking as well. You certainly are getting some great locals in you life!

AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT, 7/7/07 IS BOOKED SOLID
MANY WEDDING HALLS, CHURCHES IN CNY ARE ALREADY TAKEN FOR LUCKY SEVEN WEDDINGS.
Robert McClendon Contributing writer </I>
Brides do strange things to ensure a lucky marriage. Some traditions are widespread - wearing something old and something new - and some not so well known - feeding a cat out of the bride's left shoe.
Rarely do brides-to-be consider the big day itself a good luck charm, yet across Central New York, many are thinking otherwise. They are snapping up reception venues, calling churches and booking DJs for Saturday, July 7, 2007, that's 7-7-07.Wedding experts say you should start booking a year in advance, but forward-thinking brides hoping to get hitched on that lucky day started booking popular wedding venues in January.

One bride-to-be, Nicole Miceli, of Solvay, said she called eight places before she found one with an opening for that date.

Another, Sue Clark 22, of North Syracuse, was hoping for a lucky seven wedding but moved the date after she couldn't book the reception venue on which she had her heart set.

"We both really thought it was one of those special dates that only comes around once in a while, and we thought it would be great to have our special day on such a special date," she said.

Brooke LaVallee, 24, of Camillus, was able to keep the date but had to reschedule the time of the wedding. She said she called Syracuse University's Hendricks Chapel in November of 2005, only to find someone had already taken the more desirable late-afternoon time slot.

"I do think it will bring me good luck," she said.

Elizabeth Joyce, a numerologist based in Pennsylvania, said couples across the country who do manage to book that date could reap cosmic rewards. "Sevens are very lucky numbers; they are very spiritual," she said. "For the people getting married, the two of them together would be more lucky, more blessed than the two of them apart."

Joyce also operates new-visions.com, a Web site dedicated to all things new age. According to the site, "Travel, change, surprises and devotion to children and grandchildren" will be keys to success for those married on July 7, 2007.

What Joyce said will be a good day for a wedding is already shaping up to be a great day to be in the wedding business.

Theo Wheeler, who runs Syracuse Wedding Magazine and www.SyracuseWedding.com (http://www.SyracuseWedding.com), said he started noticing a spike in bridal registrations with his company, which also runs bridal shows, early this year. They have registered 150 percent more brides for 7-7-07 than they normally register for other days.

He said there were no registrations for 7-6-07 bachelor parties yet.

"Being guys, we don't know how to plan anything in advance," he said.

Dan Gilfillan, operator of Gilfillan's West Hill, a popular two-room reception venue in Camillus, said that day has been booked for months.

"If we had 20 rooms, we could have filled them," he said.

"Everybody and their mother's been calling about that day," said Annette Bargabos, who runs another popular venue, Greystone Castle in Canastota. "We went through a time there when it was every other phone call."

Sarah Duerr, 26, of North Syracuse, is set to marry on the 7th. After booking all her wedding necessities, she said she would be lucky no matter what happens. "It can't rain that day. It's three lucky numbers in a row," she said. "But even if it does, I will still be the lucky one because I'm marrying the man I love."

Booked or not

Here's a sampling of some CNY venues:

Brae Loch Inn, Cazenovia: Booked

Wysocki's, Cicero: Three booked, three open

LeMoyne Manor, Salina: Booked. "Very popular day."

Wyndham Hotel, DeWitt: Booked. "... one of the first dates that booked up."

Arena's Eis House, Mexico: One booked, one pending, can accommodate three

American Foundry, Oswego: Open

Mohegan Manor, Baldwinsville: Open, but has eight to 10 proposals. "... people who want it are having a hard time getting the church on that date."

Marx Hotel, Syracuse: Booked

:hothead: :hothead: So Kevin and I go to bed last night and he is holding my right hand. Jokingly he says "oh my god wheres your ring" I know its on my left hand where it always is so I say (also joking) "that crackerjack box piece of ****. I threw it away" Then i look at my ring and notice one of the pink sapphires is gone. I jumped about 10 feet and Im freaking out. So we get out of bed and on our hands and knees searchin for it. The whole time I'm thinking ofcourse I cant remember when I saw it last intact. i had worked a 12 hr shift. Im thinking I could've lost it at work. In the parking lot, my car, the street. it could've washed down the drain i could've flushed it down the toilet, etc.. I have this made up movie in my head of the stone falling and someone steps on it, it sticks in thier sneaker only to fall off and it gets picked up by a car tire, then falls off and into a sewer drain, I can see it like riding in a current.... i dont know. Obviously thats far fetched but I was freakin. Anyway after searching for about 20 minutes. He found it on the bedroom floor by the door. THANK GOD! I was so happy. Very relieved. anyway it sucks cuz tonight we are leaving to visit my sister in Kentucky so I knew I'd have to bring it to the jewler today and leave it for a week! I feel so naked without it.

The part that angers me though is I get to the store and speak to the guy that Kevin dealt with. I met him before and didnt like him. So I explain what happened with no attitude whatsoever and immediately he's like well sometimes if you get a prong caught on somethin the stone will get loose and fall out. Ok he's placing blame on me? I may have lightly knocked my hand against the door or something. If I did it wasnt hard enough to notice. But the ring is only 3 months old I think it should've been built to last. at least longer than 3 months. If it was 3 yrs, thats another story. But damn that pissed me off. I didnt go in there saying you :censored: gave me a crappy ring! I work in retail I know what its like to be ripped a new one by a mad customer and I always try to be nice when I'm the one with a complaint. He should've kept his mouth shut, apologized and told me they would take care of it. That would've been fine with me. So I arranged to pick it up next Tues. Kevin will go with me. He is not happy after all he paid for it. Maybe he wont have a problem yelling at them after I tell him what a jerk the guy was. I cant wait till he gets home

I guess its time to clean and pack again. Just had to get that out!

That's just baloney. I have a ring I wear EVERY day from an ex boyfriend (it's a cool ring). I've had it for at least 8 years and don't take it off. I've also worked food service and so it's been knocked around quite a bit. I haven't lost any stones from it. What a rude sales person. Can they reinforce the prongs or anything to keep any more stones from falling out?

Well we got back from Kentucky had an awesome time. We picked up the ring on Tuesday its all fixed and sparkly cuz they cleaned it. The guy was totally different with kevin there. All apologetic and whatnot. Whatever we are still not getting our bands there.
We had a ton of fun in both NYC and Kentucky and I'm sad theres no more Vacations till our honeymoon. Thats ok its exciting to look forward to.
While we were in NYC we went to the empire state building. Well I've been up there at least 6 times but the guys had never been. Well I dont like tall buildings at all! I freak out. I was fine when I was younger but the older I get the more fears I have. Anyway we get to like the 80th floor or wherever u gotta wait to get the smaller elevator the rest of the way. On this floor they take your picture. I was havin a freakin panic attack and I just wanted to go back down. Anyway the pic is so funny. It shows exactly what I was feeling.

UGGH! my scanner isnt workin!. I'll scan it at work and post it soon. I have some other pics too.

We had a great time in Kentucky too. We went to the Knob Creek machine gun shoot (Kev's idea) and i had so much fun. I thought it would be boring for me but I really liked it. We spent a bunch of time w my family and my brother in law (a retired marine) took us to the tank range on Ft Knox and we got to go in one. Kev's really into military history and guns so this trip was fabulous for him. He loved it. Anyway I cant imagine the poor guys who are in those tanks its such a tight space. I give them a ton of credit.

When we got home we got our engagement pic proofs finally so here are a few of those. The one of us walking we are going to have put on a canvas and they make it so it looks like a painting. And since our reception is in an art gallery we are going to have guests sign that instead of a book.

Great job with the save the dates! How do you get the cartoon look?

I agree with what Brian's Bride said about which to use.

With the billboard one, is there anyway to put the billboard on a different picture of a road, like a regular, fairly busy highway? IMO, the pic behind the billboard is a little distracting with the pile of lumber and the broken down cars (esp. being red and yellow) and water and a house.

The wedding planning has slowed down lately. We havent done anything in weeks and now we're down to under 8 months. :petrified: Really the only things we have are reception venue, church, dj, limo, caterer. I know they're the biggest things but theres so many other things to do. I'm going dress shopping for the last time this coming friday. I started that other thread about how i NEEDED that black and white dress. Then I was gonna buy 2 and sell one I dont know. I think I just decided to go with another one. I love it and started staring at it alot lately. I wont have to worry about my butt looking big in it cuz it will cover it. Here it is

http://www.foreverbridals.com/images/47133.jpg

I love it. But again no one around here carries it. Oh they can all order it. I just dont want to commit before seeing it in person. I think it's awesome though.

So since we are so behind I decided to just take a few things a week and get them done. The goals for this week are make the save the dates and submit our engagement announcement. Oh and get kevins butt to his moms for a list of addresses. Hopefully we can send them next week. I dont even know what else to do right now. I guess I can look at my list. Oh yeah we have a photographer too. Well I guess i gotta wash my work clothes for tomorrow :sob: I dont wanna go! I dislike Mondays.

Well I'm glad you guys like the dress cuz I"M ORDERING IT FRIDAY!!!!! I'm gonna go thru this woman who runs a bridal shop out of her home. She has like everything you can imagine and she is really nice. I went to a dress shop today w my sis and niece and I didnt even want to try anything on. I just carried around that pic and couldn't find anything that compared. anyway my dress lady (thats what I call her, I keep forgetting her name) is trying to get me a sample so I can see it first but at this point I dont even care what the back looks like. The front is beautiful so the back cant be that bad. So next friday is my bday and I guess the dress will be my present to myself! I usually get my hair cut and colored but a dress is more important and I'm trying to let my hair grow anyway.

Someday I would love to do wedding cakes. After I have kids. If I could do that from home or open a shop w my sis, thats my dream. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i109/nikloveskev/mycakes001.jpg

So I got the best present from the from the futere in-laws. It was to both me and Kevin so I unwrapped it and it was in a things remembered box I gave it to kevin to open and it was a beautiful frame with wedding rings at the top and our names and wedding date on the bottom. I almost cried. It is the first gift we've gotten like that and it really made everything seem real for the first time. Even trying on dresses didnt hit me like that. I got so choked up about it I didnt even notice in frame they had arranged money, 5's 10's and 20's all folded up in interesting ways. She told us there is over $100 in it so we are gonna put it in our wedding funds account. It was just so amazing and special and it was my favorite gift this year. I cant wait to send a thank you and tell her how much I love it. I wanna post a pic if I can ever find my camera charger.

We submitted our engagement announcement to the paper a few weeks ago. We wanted it to appear in yesterday's (XMAS EVE) paper. So she emailed me a draft and I wrote back a few changes we wanted to make and she called me last wednesday and left a message. She said "I made the changes to your announcement, I have to get it in right away and it will appear in the paper on the 24th" So we tell everyone and its not in the paper. It really made me mad. I was very dissappointed. She was so nice on the phone and wished us a very very merry christmas. Well it would've been a little merrier if it made the paper. I mean it cost like 40 bucks ya know. I'm so irritated. Let me tell ya it better be in Next weeks or I will flip. Gonna send her an email now to tell her how I feel.

I emailed the newspaper lady Monday night. I told her I was really dissappointed it wasnt in there since they told me it would be and I had told all my friends and family. I told her I really wanted it to be in next Sundays then, on new years eve. No reply. So the b**** left me a message today. She said I'm sorry to tell you the soonest it will be in is on January 7th. So I called her back and I'm like what the hell? I dont understand why it wont be in next weeks when clearly they screwed up. She said she didnt realize she missed it untill after she sent this weeks layout in to be printed or whatever earlier today. And she was on vacation last week so the girl who told me it would be in was just too late again. I'm so mad. So I told her ya know I did my part I got it there 18 days before I wanted it published. So she said she'd talk to someone and "maybe see if we can refund part of your money" Maybe? Partial Refund? WTF!!!:icon_barbar: I was so mad I cried. I dont know why it got me so upset it just really did. I had told my family on xmas that it should be in next weeks cuz they missed that week now I gotta tell everyone it's gonna be a week after that. I'm off tomorrow and she better call me and offer me at least half back. I dont even care about the money I'm just so angry they screwed me twice.

Anyway I keep trying to tell myself it will be the 1st announcement of the new year and it's cool cuz it will be in exactly 6 mos b4 the wedding, but it sint helping. I still think xmas eve or new years eve would've been better.

Like I said I dont know why I'm so upset it about it, It's not a huge deal. I just am :(

You have every right to be upset, you paid for a service and you met all the deadlines for the date you wanted and they didn't fulfill their end of the bargain. I don't know how important the announcement is to you, but I would be tempted to tell them to forget it and just refund all your money, or you could take your business to a different paper.

Trust me I was very tempted to tell them forget it, but it's our only local newspaper. It's important to me I guess cuz I want everyone to know, like people I went to school with and don't see anymore. Plus It's a good keepsake I think.

I suppose you could try to look on the bright side, push for any sort refund or partial refund you can get and it is kind of neat it would run six months before, to the day. Besides, some people may not read papers too thoroughly during the holidays b/c they are so busy so it might get seen by more people on the 7th.

We are starting to think of honeymoon plans. We want to go out west. We want to go to national parks like Yosemite, maybe Yellowstone. We also want to see the Grand Canyon, stop in Vegas and maybe Bryce canyon? Natural Bridge? Zion? I'm so confused. I also really wanna go up the California coast.

I netflixed a bunch of National Geographic documentaries about those places so I'm hoping we can narrow it down and come up with a plan. Some sort of route and timeline. Hopefully we can do two weeks for this honeymoon too. We also got AAA tour books.

This is a huge task. I was wondering if any of you guys who live or have travelled out west can suggest anything? Places that are so great I shouldn't pass them up or places that weren't as good as you expected?? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also should we attempt to book all this ourselves or go to a travel agency or AAA for help?

WhiskeyGirl

As far as booking (This is the only thing I can comment on..sorry) as long as one of you is super organized and you have a great (almost fool proof) plan, then I don't see why you couldn't book your own trip. (we did for our next holiday to Hawaii.) However, if you don't have a terriabley big amount of experience, calling in a travel agent, could be a good plan.

The one thing we do, is always check Tripadvisor/Expedia (we never book through those sites though! we book direct with the hotels.) and that kind of thing to see what people say about the hotels. A word of caution there though, as a lot of people who post on that type of site are usually just complaining about the hotel or their stay. We've read plenty of bad posts about certain hotels and have never had a bad experience, but we've also read bad reviews and had the same problems. So all in all, research...that is probably the biggest thing for sure!!

Good luck and have fun planning your Honeymoon.

hmmm staying in the country and not at a resort, I say if you think you can do it, plan it yourself, we went through a travel agent and LOVED it, but only because we are going to a resort in Mexico. You could deff. start watching some Travel Channel shows :) I have only really been to Phx, AZ. I did enjoy it though. If you are traveling up the Cali. coast, it would be cool to go far enough north to see the huge redwood trees, you know, the ones that you can like drive through. I also thought that would be cool... just a thought.

I think going to national parks would be great! There are so many places I want to go and things I want to do, that its hard to decide! So then it comes down to how much its gonna cost for us hehe.

It never hurts to do as much research as possible. If you are members of AAA, see what they have to offer, so many discounts are available to members. Even travel agents might be able to get better deals b/c of the volume they deal with. You can also look around on your own and see what the best deal would be. Good luck.

The only place I have been in the West is Las Vegas, which I highly recommend if you like more of a city combined with a resort atmosphere. You can also take day trips to Lake Tahoe so you can get the nature aspect in as well. Vegas has awesome dining and shows and every major hotel is like a resort with a spa, pool and workout facility and most even have fantastic in house shopping areas.

I love these invitations. I ordered a sample and think it's really pretty. I was a little wierded out by the size though, they're huge. They are 8"x8". They're pretty big and I dont think they'll fit in a regular mailbox without being bent. Kevin was not fond of this. Ohter than that we love them. So were yours like normal card size or has anyone sent/recieved a huge invitation?

Try Target online, you can add to your reg from the comfort of your home. You should still go back to the store sometime b/c not all the stuff online is available at the stores and vice versa.

ITA, I didn't care much for registering either and our trips went a little smoother than yours. LOL But I am just not a big fan of shopping.

I love you announcement and your invites are beutiful!!

Registering....Yeah that's something I'm not looking forward too! Shawn and I have two different tastes. For home decorating stuff I'm more of a country style and I love antiquies. When I say country I don't mean western, I'm not sure how to explain it. He more so likes a more modern look. I think the only thing we will agree on is kitchen aid appliances I love those. Either way I'm not looking forward to it much. Good luck with yours and hopefully if you try doing it online you'll have much more luck. Maybe you can split it up like he registers for bathroom and bedroom items you register for kitchen and home decor items...That might work if you can deal with what he choices and he can deal with yours.

On Saturday we went to Target to register. It was one of the things I was lookin forward to most. And ya know what? It kinda sucked.

Yeah, we registered at Target, when we got the gun, we were lost! I mean we didn't really know where to start. One of my top things that I wanted to register for was a Swiffer mop thing and vac. And we added some refills and stuff like that. They're cheap and adds things to the list. We didn't really need a whole lot of stuff there, we did put some things on there to replace a few of what we already have. But then we put some laundry detergent and dryer sheets! Lol. I don't know if people will think that's a joke or not, but hey, we can use them! I really want to register for CDs but Chris won't let me! I'm thinking of doing that when he's not around. Ok, sry this is a book but I know how you feel.

When I come to the states I always have a hard time with the American money, it just seems like Monopoly money to me because it's not different colors and just seems liek every bill is the same. (no offense to anyone!) I am happy that we have different colored money though the last time I was noticing your money is starting to go that way!! YAY! No more confused Canadian! lol I feel so stupid standing there like really inspecting my money to make sure I give the person the right amount, other wise I could be giving away a hundred dollar bill to the bell boy or something! lol.

ok....you're not being a good buddy posting those cakes here! I'm hungry now!! ok maybe not...Anyhow...Just start off by taking one task at a time so you don't get overwhelmed. Try to get something crossed off once a week or once every two weeks. Just think of it as one step at a time. Don't look at everything all at once. Start with the most important and go from there.

Last night Me, Kev, his parents, my dad and Marcia(dads girlfriend) went out to dinner. It was the first meeting of the parents. It went well, I was a bit nervous at first but we had a good time. My dad and Kev's mom chatted up a storm. Marcia was quieter than normal, But thats ok. So that's one big thing out of the way. The food was great though. I had chicken Francaise, its one of the things we're thinkin about having at the wedding. And they have these mashed potatoes! Oh my god they are soooo good. They have cheeses and butter and garlic and sour cream in them and fresh herbs. To die for!! But they gotta be so bad for you.

I'm glad to hear that your dinner went well. It can be akward having the parents all meet for the first time...Shawn and I slipped that one in before he proposed. I guess we'll have to do it again sometime here before the wedding. Anyhow, that food sounds sooooo good compared to the fruits and veggie's I've been eating lately!! Mostly to just help me get rid of this cold, but my goodness that sounds delicious!!!

We went to Andy's house after dinner last night. He gave me this pic to make copies of it for him, and I just wanted to post it. This was taken xmas eve 2 yrs ago. L to R is Jay, kevin, Andy and Burt. I think it's too funny. So these are his groomsmen minus his brother who will be the BM.

We wanted to do a bunch af national parks for our HM. So many we couldn't choose. So we came up with a plan. On July 9th we will be flying to Las Vegas where we booked a room at the NY NY Hotel, for 2 nights. We will probably rent a car there then drive to CA, and spend 3 nights near Yosemite. Everything was pretty much booked in the park so we got a hotel 30 minutes away. We have watched so many shows on Yosemite and it looks soooo beautiful! I hope to come home with some amazing pics. This leaves us with another 5 days or so to figure out. I've always wanted to go to San Fransisco, so we'll prob stop there too.

It just feels soo good to have started something definite! A little more weight off my shoulders!

Thank you all!

We went to a flower shop. The woman was really nice. I'm sooo glad I brought my sister cuz she knows way more about flowers than me and she asked a ton of questions I never would've thought of.
I brought her pics of those flowers I posted to give an idea of what I like. From there we decided on roses, carnations and alstremeria for everything. All in different shades of pink.
So for my bouquet, 2 MOH, 4 BM bouquets (7 total)
7 bouts
3 corsages
2 altar arrangements
a long and low for unity candles
6 pew bows
12 centerpieces
and delivery the grand total was 936 plus tax bringing it just over $1000

I ofcourse have no clue if this is a decent price. I'm thinking about going to another place just to get a 2nd price and see if its comparable.

If we end up with less tables our price will go down too. which is a strong possibility.

For the centerpieces we decided on tower vases with a bouquet (kinda) on top. like this
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i109/nikloveskev/phone014.jpg

I'm gonna buy the vases at AC Moore. with the 40% coupon they will be about $6 each. not too bad.

nikloveskev
02-25-2007, 02:30 PM
We also decided on the cake. This is where it gets scary. We decided to make it ourselves! :notsure:

We went to a store that carries all cake supplies and we found butterflies exactly like these. I mean EXACTLY.

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i109/nikloveskev/gal_cake14_S.jpg

So we bought them. I think we have like 24. They're made out of royal icing and they are on wire. So this is the cake!
Instead of the tan color it will be light pink. the black will stay black and that bright blue will be dark pink. And the butterflies are white.

obviously we will do a practice cake to see how close we can get it. But if its even remotely the same I will be thrilled. I saw this cake over a year ago and have loved it ever since.

OK. I picked up my gown today and brought it to my dad's house for safe keeping. (hopefully).

We are going to book the florist this weekend, and also look at tuxes.

On Wednesday, my dad and I are going to check out invitations. We used to live across from a family that runs a print shop. My dad has known them forever and knows if something goes wrong they will fix it.

I'm also starting to look at jewlery.

But thing I am most excited about is my gift to Kevin. I ordered it a few weeks ago. I'm so excited to see how it turns out. It's one of those personalized cake topper things, but we wont use it as a topper. It will have us in our wedding attire, with my flowers, our cat sitting next to me, and he will be holding an AK-47. I know it's wierd, but he loves to build guns. So I know he will love it. The communication with these people has been excellent. They ask me questions about how I want things and everything. Then they will send me a pic to make sure it's right and if so...they bake it or something. This is thier website http://www.my-shorty.com/myshorty/index.php

Let me know what ya'll think :p

I haven't been on in a while. I've been busy having breakdowns. Actually its not that bad but one day about 2 weeks ago I just locked myself in the bathroom and cried for like an hour straight! Poor kevin was so scared. He didnt know what to do. Luckily I finally stopped and he still wants to marry my crazy self.

I just snapped because suddenly I just felt all this pressure like I was never gonna be able to pull this wedding off. Anyway I calmed down and in the past week alone have gotten some stuff accomplished. I cut my hours at work this week and next and that is a huge help too.

Some updates................
I got our shorty in the mail. It is so cool. It's at my dads house so I havent taken a pic yet, but I will. They switched us so he's not killing the cat and gave him his ponytail. They did an amazing job with him it looks EXACTLY like him. The bride looks kinda like me but somethings a little off. It's okay tho he will love it.

Ooh I just found lyrics

Al Green - Let's Stay Together Lyrics

I, I'm so in love with you
Whatever you want to do
Is all right with me
'Cause you make me feel so brand new
And I want to spend my life with you

Since, since we've been together
Loving you forever
Is what I need
Let me be the one you come running to
I'll never be untrue

Let's, let's stay together
Lovin' you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad

Whether times are good or bad, happy or sad

Why, why some people break up
Then turn around and make up
I just can't see
You'd never do that to me (would you, baby)
Staying around you is all I see
(Here's what I want us to do)

[Repeat to fade:]
Let's, we oughta stay together
Loving you whether, whether
Times are good or bad, happy or sad

OK I GOT PICS!!!!

Anyway my shower went really well. I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be and It made me feel alot better about the wedding. I got some really nice stuff. A ton of picture frames, bakeware, nice napkins and really cool glasses. Kev's aunt made us a table runner to match. I got the neatest cookbook from his Nana too. It was really fun. See for yourself.

This is me opening a cake stand http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i109/nikloveskev/Kentuckyandshower131.jpg

Ok. Now for the fun. Later that night a few of us girls got ready to go out. They dressed me up in a veil, sash, and a shirt made by my friend Jacque that said "Wh@re No More" on the front and bride to be 7/7/07 on the back. We went to a few little corner bars. The 1st one there was like only 8 people there and the I got kissed on the cheek by this drunk old man. It was funny. The girls made necklaces with lifesavers and had the guys pay them to eat the candy off. it was so fieakin funny. They gave me all the money and I went home with $45 bucks! Not bad for small bars. If only we had gone downtown.....

Steph bought Kev a tux shirt and an "inflatable wife" boy they had fun with that one.

Well thats basically it for the good ones. I had such a great night. I didn't drink so much so I felt great the next day and everything. I was really tired though. we got home at 2:30 and I couldnt sleep till like 4am. I was thinkin about how much fun I had. I was thinkin about makin little photobooks of that night for the bridal party that was there as part of thier gifts. I just gotta get going on editing them.

You guys looked like you had a blast. That is so cool. And it's nice not to feel horrible the next day too.

Bruce & I had made the deal with each other that we wouldn't get trashed on our wedding day. And we didn't. And we have commented several times how nice it was...not just that night, but the next day too. Made for a better start to the honeymoon!! LOL

Yeah I definately don't wanna get trashed. Could you imagine all that money, a year of planning, then you don't even remember your wedding. That would suck.!

Actually that happened with a cousin. They were both so trashed, the parents had to help the bride get out of her dress. And I don't think either of them came alive for at least 2 days. Her parents were NOT impressed. And the bride has said many times she wishes they hadn't gotten so bad. She says she can't remember anything past cutting the cake!
