I have a thing for planning, I just love planning. I've been told I'm weird because of it, but hey, that's just how I am :grinhappy:
So to make a very long story short, we've not been together for very long at all. I don't think we even strike the half a year mark
But FH is a old fashioned guy and when we found out I'm pregnant he proposed to me...
Not being to long since I got divorced in the first place, it caught me off guard and made me think "Oh god, that's awfully fast!".
But thinking about it, we talked about the potential of getting married before we started dating.. We mesh awesomely.. I can so see myself growing old with the guy, so why not? LOL I'm sure that sounds awfully romantic right there ;)
So here we are.. We're thinking it'd be nice to get married when my family comes from overseas to see the baby. My family isn't really in the position to travel cross continents often, so it makes sense (Again, the oh so romantic stuff, right?)
So nothing decided.. Thinking sometime after September, but before December.. Aka after baby, but before they leave :toast:
Between baby, college classes, wedding planning, getting the house we just moved into ready (Yup, that too!), I'm thinking 2012 is going to be a busy year! :lafhard:

The real next thing on my to-do list is to sit down with FH and check what kind of wedding he has in mind.. Going to the courthouse, a little thing out here, or what. :lafhard: There is so much going on, we haven't really had the time to sit down and talk yet about anything wedding related...
BUT, I figure no matter what kind of wedding we do, we're going to want rings. I know they're technically all symbolic and jaddajadda, but hey, I like them.
I've always loved the thought of having rings that are very similar so they look like they're of the same style or something.. Like they belong together if you will :) I was looking around for sets with both his&her bands and most of them where a lot more bling than I can ever imagine my cowboy using...
Then I found this guy on Etsy who makes his own rings, I was like "Dude, this is so perfect for us!"
We're both pretty outdoorsy people.. Actually the first time he really talked to me was when we where working together, on break I was sitting and reading through a recipe book and I was on the fish section. Being a avid fisher, he asked me what kind of fish I liked the most.. We chatted back and forth about that and it ended with "Oh, I'll bring you back some next time I'm fishing!" to where my mouth works faster than my brain and I go "I'd rather love getting to go fishing myself!"
And it kinda snowballed from there, the one fishing trip lead to countless of fishing trips, camping trips, random photo trips (I love photo and he's shown me some fantastic places to go get pictures!), even a roadtrip from SD to UT and Yellowstone :)
That might seem like a tangent, but it kinda explains why I think these rings are perfect for us :soppy:
Here's the set for me:

It's not a diamond, but a white sapphire, which rather appeals to me. Even more so that he offers other gemstones including amethyst. Ever since I set foot on the pagan path I've had a pull towards amethysts :)
And two options for him:

This second one makes me giggle, just cause of the story above:

Okay, so since I haven't talked to FH yet (He's at work and all) these are plain out ideas... We live on a farm and I think we could do something really interesting out here for a wedding.. That way it's on the inexpensive side of things also, cause a wedding would definitely be on the budget side of things with baby and me going to college and everything..
And a country/cowboy style wedding would probably be right up FHs ally! (Or dirtroad?)

I love this idea for seating. When FH gets his horses up here too we'll obviously have haybales so that'd be so easy to fix. And save on having to rent chairs too!

I wonder if we could pull off something like this in one of the buildings here! I love the look of it, but not sure if any of the buildings that are structurally sound (This place has been abandoned for quite some time, so some of the buildings are in pretty icky condition) has the space to do it...

I love the look of this, so simple to do, but would fit perfectly into a country/cowboy type wedding :)

Same setup kinda, just with food instead of cakes and such...

I know we have spindles like that in one of the buildings here, looks cool!

This so made me giggle. I can so imagine FH loving a idea like this for beverages :)

I love this picture. Definetly makes me want to have our pup as a part of the wedding! (And probably a picture with my kitty too!)

A thought just occurred to me. Since you're Norwegian, you should incorporate some Norwegian wedding traditions into your wedding.

It's kinda funny I sat here thinking to myself "What are Norwegian wedding traditions, not including the Kransekake?"
I couldn't think of anything, so I googled a little, both English and Norwegian sites..
For most part, it looks like the traditional Norwegian wedding is much like the rest of Europe and the US.
I know a lot of Norwegians do have kransekake in their weddings. Altho I'm not a big fan, I guess it could be fun to have one for the American guests to try..
Kransekake is basically a almond cake

I guess we could include my favorite cake, which is marzipan cake. Very typical for us Norwegians to include in birthdays, baptisms, weddings, you name it..
It's basically a sponge cake, layered with whipped cream and jam topped with marzipan (Which is almond paste. Apparently we have a thing for almond stuff!)
http://www.matspecialen.no/images/Marketing/meny/kaker/40%20marsipankake.jpg
I'm thinking maybe go with the cake/dessert table like we're used to back home. Instead of having one HUGE wedding cake, we usually have several different kinds.. Often homemade. My mom could help me with some of the stuff, cause like Kransekake I've never made before :D
Clothing wise if you'd go back a little, bunad would be the clothing of choice. Him not being Norwegian, so he doesn't have a area of Norway he could claim ancestry from... I can, but the bunad I want from where my family goes back hundreds of years cost at least 2500 dollars. That's probably more than what we're looking at for an entire wedding budget
The rest of what I can find, I'm not so sure.. Planting two pines on each side of the door to promote fertility seems kinda mute point when I'm pregnant already, hahaha.
Other is to have a big dangly brides crown, to "ward away evil spirits". That seems a little bit to much on the Christian side for this pagan girl..
Thanks for the mention tho girlggc, really made me think more about what's tradition back home. I'm sure FH would get a kick of having Norwegian stuff laced into things :)
