Hi,
I am wondering, should i have a map directing people to where they are sitting at the reception with the name cards at the specific seat on that table. Or, should i have all the name cards on a table within the hall for guests to pick up and take with them to that table, then they can choose where at the table they want to sit.
I don't know what will work better. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I like the latter suggestion ... I saw a wedding once were the couple had a "celebrity" themed wedding reception, they had a hostess at the door with a list of the guests that RSVP'd and the party favors with their names and table numbers on them. The hostess took their name, gave them their favor and directed them to their table where they were able to choose the specific spot at that table themselves.

This was also a nice way to deal with people just showing up ... if they were not on the list, they would have to step aside until everyone that was on the list was seated. From what I heard it went over pretty well.

Hope this helps, Good luck.

I think you should have cards, it makes everything look more classy :)

I recommend the latter idea as well -- having the table cards set up near the entry. It is easy for the guests to figure out and looks very elegant & classy.

Make sure you put the cards in alphabetical order by last name -- this makes it so much easier for the person who is setting the cards on the table, as well as for the guests when they're looking for their names.
