This isnt about the wedding, but it is still very frustrating.
(KIND OF LONG)
I started school last week. I go to an extension center that is only about a 30 min. drive from my house. Normally the bookstore brings textbooks to the school and I buy my books that way. This semester, however, they decided to change the rules. We now have to buy our books over the internet, they are not going to bring them to our campus.
No big deal. I figured I would get the ISBN and just order them from Amazon since I will have to buy off the internet anyway, and they will probably be cheaper.
Come to find out they do not give out the ISBN's to the people in the office anymore. And when you find the book that you need from the school's website they dont include it there either. I tried using the title/author but there were too many hits, and I wasnt sure which one was the actual book.
So I decided that I would go ahead and order them from the bookstore. I order them on August 17, 1 week before my first class. It said it would take 3 business days. Well, it has almost been 2 weeks and I have to recieved any of my books!!! We only have 8 week classes!! I wont have a book for 2 of those 8 weeks and they still want me to pay almost $200??!?!?
I am going to call tomorrow and MAKE them give me the ISBN's and cancel my order. This is RIDICULOUS!!! How am I supposed to do homework??

Wow that sucks! I am sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with getting your books. You would think they would make it as easy as possible for you to get your books since it's only going to benefit your education.
Definatly go in and talk to your bookstore about getting the correct information. That is simply ridiculous that you don't have them yet!

That is horrible and so very wrong! I would raise some h*ll (politely, of course) with anyone who will listen, the campus bookstore manager, your professor, the company that ships the books or anyone else I could find!

First, I wish that at any point in my schooling career I could have only paid $200 for text books. Most semesters ran me at least $1000.
Be careful ordering your text books off of Amazon or Barnes and Noble they are SUPER slow on the shipping with those sometimes, especially during "text book" season.
Your best bet is to complain to your professor about it. If no one in the class has the book, than they can't expect you to use them. If they can't get their lesson plans complete the way they want to, the book store will feel their wrath.

I got the impression the $200 was just that one book.

Yeah I thought the same thing, becaus I know when I was in school, my books were running about 500-600 for the lot of them - and that was the used ones, so I can't imagine they went down any!!
this really stinks!!! I'd be finding someone that can do something to correct the problem!

We had a situation last semester where the bookstore sent the books back to the publisher and nobody in the class had books. Most people could order them used online but had already bought them through the bookstore so the bookstore wouldnt refund the money. The books took 6 weeks to arrive and were $180 each, so about $350 for everything. The bookstore ran out again and so some people didnt get books at all. Because some people had books and some didnt, she still required that we use the book. I was fortunate enough to have friends in another section who let me use their book for class because I couldnt get one.
Textbooks are a complete nightmare! You should email the teacher and get the ISBN, I had to do that before my semester started this time around.

Yeah, the $200 was for the one book. Luckily I only need 2 books for the first quarter of classes.
We only go to class 8 times. What is the point of getting the book if I dont even have it for the first 2!?!?

You would probably have to take a final exam or have tests between week 3 and 8, so the book would be useful. I hope this gets resolved quickly.

Hey! I went to school for accounting. I'll send you my books. LOL I'm just kiddin'. I would not pay 200.00 for the book but then again if you don't you will have no way to do homework like you said, unless you have a buddy in that class that can share.

I have actually had wonderful luck with Amazon. I got my books for about half of the price and they shipped it within a week. And I ordered them two weeked before this semester started, so it was during the rush period. Keep in mind with there too, that you can sometimes get free shipping like I did if all of the books are in stock. I just used the ISBN number. Sorry that you were unable to get the number. School books are total BS anyways because half of the teachers never use them, and then when you want to sell them back, the only give you $5.00 for a $100 book! Crazy! I feel for you

Yes, that is very frustrating!! I had that problem last semester with my history book. I didn't get it until 3 weeks into the semester because they were out of stock and I was so far behind.
I think this is a problem everywhere, though. haha Because NOW, I just started my medical program and we are having our fourth class tonight (16 classes all together) and we still dont have our books... supposedly they are being 'overnighted'. Geez. lol
