Hello all, I need some advice. I am having such a hard time deciding if we should go with a Destination Wedding, or get married in our hometown. I think a Destination Wedding would be our preference but their are so many options out there for a location, I don't know where to begin! Definately on a beach though. Any suggestions?

We're having a destination wedding (sort of) and there are some things to keep in mind:
PROS:
1. You're generally allowed to keep the wedding simpler. You manage to avoid all the hassle of family reccomdations and arguements about how you should do things.
2. It's a great vacation for everyone and in a way insures that you're going to have a bit of a holiday atmosphere.
CONS:
1. Not all of your family may be able to make it.
2. If you do decide to plan it yourself, you have to take into account the local laws and waiting periods. Research the legalities.
#2 under cons can probably be avoided if you do some sort of package.
Destination weddings can be wonderful and really memorable, and if that's the way you're leaning, go for it. I just wanted to share my thoughts on the subject.
I belong on a UK wedding forum too, and I know that quite a few brides there were planning weddings and honeymoons in Mauritius.
Oooh, one last thought! If you do plan on something tropical...make sure you're thinking about hurricane season.

We are have a sort of destination wedding, my FH is from Charleston, I'm from Virginia..
We are getting married in Charleston on the Beach, instead of doing it at a resort we are just renting an oceanfront beach house and having the cemony on the beach in front of the house and the reception on the beach and in the house, (be careful some of the renters don't allow weddings) this way we can do what we want with deco and everything i think it will be a lot cheaper than some of the prices I saw on some of the resort sites.. it's way cheaper than a Sandles or Beaches wedding or flying to Cancun and it can be just as beautiful! :)

I'd love to have a wedding abroad but the family's to big, so many would be unable to come:bbcry: A few people i know had there wedding in cyprus, i couldn't attend any but the photos look gorgeous! Not very exotic though but beautiful all the same and rather cheap! though i'am in England so would probably be more expensive for you!
