My FH and I will be sending out a limited number of save the dates because most of our guests are pretty much minutes away from us and we are in contact with them on a regular basis.
Although, most of Kevin's family is in England and we plan to send some out that way and to Iceland where my family is.
I thought about magnets but lately all of my friends who have gotten married have done this and I want to be a little different. There is a strict budget so I do plan to make these on our own. Any ideas for something different?

I will say that we used the magnet and it really worked. Everyone had to look at it several times a day whenever they went to their refrigerator. It is was subtle advertising. :bbmrgreen: I know that you can make little stickers with your wedding date and name on them for people to put on their calendars. That is kind of the smae thing but a little different too.

I was wanting a different idea for Save the Dates too, although I like the magnet idea. But I thought I'd just share this picture I found because I like it:

I know its not that different, but I got to thinking, maybe cut paper in a different shape, like a circle instead of a rectangle.

I know! I was so excited when I found them, because I just can't decide on one either. All I can come up with (on my own) are plain ones.

The note pad is such a cute idea!!!
If you do decide to do the magnet we made ours! It was pretty inexpensive and didn't take to long!! I think they turned out great!! We used business cards (around $10 for over 100) and printed a pic on it with the date and our names. Then we puchased the magnets that are made for business cards (I think it was around $10 for 100). Then we just stuck them togeather!! It worked out really well and It wasn't to expensive! I have got a lot of compliments on them!!

We didn't even do save the date cards.
Great..I guess I need to explain the entire story..well maybe in my journal or something..which I still have no idea how to do. Anyway, we picked our wedding date by putting a bunch of dates into a hat and picked out the date. I know, I know It's stupid, because now we have had like seriously 41/2 months to plan the entire thing. We have done really well, but some things really do need time. LOL.

If you don't want to spend anything, you could do Save the Date emails. I know that there are some wedding websites that have this feature, and you can design your own.

You could bake sugar cookies and use frosting on them to write the date, and then send them.

If you want to explore some creative candidates, you can turn to your theme or colors. Do you have one? (a theme, that is)
