So for DH's law school they are having a 1920's themed party at the local street caves. The cave was used as a speakeasy back in the day - Pretty neat!

Here are our outfits. What are we missing? I definitely need a sweater or jacket of some sort because it is about 20 degrees cooler in the caves. Any ideas?

Cute cute cute! :soppy: I love the theme and the fact that it's in an old speakeasy! That's awesome.

One of those long cigarette holder thingies. You know, them thingies???

I'm very jealous by the way...

I'm jealous too! I love themed parties! You look the part!

If you get cold, they wore animal skin shrugs. Maybe you
can find one of those in a Goodwill or thrift store. And
yeah, the cigarette holder would be the cherry on top
but if not, you look fine. Good job!

One more thing. In the 20s they wore a deep colored lipstick
and mascara. If you're going to wear eyeliner - do the bottom
and top lids. It was the era of silent movies and the women's
eyes popped on the black and white screen with eyeliner. Def
no blush or rouge. Think Bette Davis.

Some of my faves from the silent era Claudette Colbert, Bette
Davis and Anita Page. Great job, you so look the part!

Yes that ^^ I was just thinking the same thing - you look DARLING!!!

But yes - more definition in your makeup - that was in back then. Also - a faux fur type shoulder thing - or a long coat...and yes the long cigarette thing... such a good point! Ugh I'm uber jealous - love your flapper dress!

Yes! I looked at the long cigarette things at Party City but I passed. I should have got one! They even had fake cigarettes... hehe!

Thanks for the make-up tips Emi. I will have to play around with it before the party. I should look around for a shrug of some sort. I was thinking a faux fur one or something. I want to check around thrift stores and see what I can find. Otherwise I have just a black sweater I can wear.

I was thinking of just curling my hair since I will be wearing that feather thing on my head anyways.

Thanks Kay! I am getting kind of excited. We don't get out too much so I think it will be fun!

Hahah, I'm excited for you! How fun. A 1920s party - lucky
girl. Last night I passed by a group of Lucille Ball's. I was
so enamored. I wish I had friends that enjoyed dressing up.

Speaking of Lucille Ball - one of the girls I work with is also a huge I love Lucy fan and she went to this huge get together with a ton of people dressed up as Lucy's in Jamestown,NY - I think there were like 3,000 people there? I can't remember the specifics but that would be so much fun!

I'm the ONLY one in my circle of friends/family that likes to
dress up. Outside of DH. He's always down for some role play! ;)

Lol. No, I remember you didn't like that show. One day
we were bonding really well but you went and knifed me
in the back when you said you hated I  Lucy!

It's okay, I hate cleaning! :p
