I don't know if any of you are keeping up with it or not, but there is a tropical storm in the Caribbean right now which will soon enter the Gulf of Mexico. They are forecasting that it will become a hurricane, possibly a major one, and it will make land fall in the Gulf Coast region.
Luckily, as of now, my area is out of the cone of uncertanity. It looks pretty promising that it will miss Texas, but Louisiana, Mississppi, Alabama, and Florida may not be so lucky. I think we all need to keep them in our thoughts and prayers. I don't know how many of you have been through a hurricane, but it is scarey and no fun. Your whole life can be changed by one. I have only suffered minor damage compared to others in the 3 hurricanes and several tropical storms I have been through, but that was bad enough.
My brother works on one of the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and tonight he is home. They began evacuating the rigs yesterday. The rig he works on is still not yet in production because of the hurricanes last year. Another slam into our oil rigs would be devestating.
Please, please think of our Gulf Coast neighbors. They really need all the thoughts and prayers they can get.

I will be keeping everyone in my prays. We have been watching out for the storm a little. I heard It was suppose to hit Jamaica today, and today is the day that FSIL and her DH are suppose to be leaving to return from their honeymoon. Hopefully they make it out before the storm hits.

They are in my thoughts. This is exactly what they do not need there!

I just found out about the new storm, and I am definitely keeping everyone down there in my thoughts. Especially as my older sister and family as well as my father and stepmother live in Florida.

Thanks everyone! I heard on the radio this morning that it is probably not going to be as bad as once expected. I even heard that it may even miss Florida now!

I know they grounded all the flights to and from Jamaica yesterday. So FSIL got and extra day on her honeymoon. They are coming back today. I hope Holly gets back ok too.

I called the resort where we are staying next week in Cocoa Beach and Ernesto has been downgraded to a "Tropical Storm" with the possibilty of re-gaining strength and becoming a hurricane still, but at present it's a Tropical Storm.

Ouch Ellen, I hope for your sake, and everyone out there that it doesn't regain it's strenght.
I had a dream last night that J PCS'd to FL and we were on our way there.

Yesterday, before I went to bed the hurricane was supp. to be comming straight for us in Fl. so I am glad to here that it is downgraded and might not be as bas as they thought. I am definitely going to praying about it! (I will have to turn on the news myself and check it out this morning.)

If you live on the Gulf Coast (West) side you have reason for concern, Meteoroligists here (at my TV station) say that is the direction of the storm. Our resort is on the Atlantic (East) side. They evacuated the Keys but that's a good 6 hours and on the opposite side of the state from where we are headed. At anyrate I hope for everyone's sake that it dissapates.

If it keeps going towards Miami and that we won't get a direct hit but you never know whats going to happen or if it will strengthen again!
I don't feel too safe in brooksville yet until I know for sure!
