Well, as most fairy tales go, not everything went exactly according to plan. But, it's the happy ending that matters, right?!
On the morning of September 10, 2011, I woke up early, since I had LOTS to do. It was cloudy and 40% chance of rain. Since there was going to be a carriage ride, I NEEDED there to be no rain, so we just hoped for the best!
About 9am, I went to have my hair done. The place I was SUPPOSED to go to had a girl not show up for my consultation, so I would have either have had to have a different person do my hair for the consultation and the actual wedding day, or simply find somebody else. I chose the latter. However, that meant that I was going to be having my hair done by myself without my bridesmaids there with me. But, better that than to have horrible hair on my wedding day because the girl didn't have time beforehand to figure out what to do. So, we went with that. My husband's sister came to sit with me since her hair's short and she was just going to do it herself, and my sister and niece came to get their hair done later on that day. My hair turned out beautifully!

Then, my new SIL and I left to go get ready at my house. My other BM's and my honorary BM met me there and we had a light lunch together and got ready. We only had 15 minutes at the actual place to get ready, so everyone's makeup and hair had to be done before we got there and everyone (other than me) had to be IN their dresses.

At 2:30, we could arrive. On our way there, it started to rain! OMG! I HOPED it was not a precursor to how the rest of the day would go! I knew we couldn't do the carriage ride if it rained! But, there was nothing we could do about it. We simply had to hope for the best.
At 2:45, my pictures with my bridesmaids were to be taken. We had 45 minutes to do pictures of me and my bridesmaids before the ceremony and then 45 minutes for the guys to have pictures done. Our pictures went fine, but when it was time for the guys' pictures to start, they weren't there! Their pictures were to start at 3:30, but at 3:45, the guys were nowhere in sight and nobody had an ETA for them. I waited patiently for them to arrive, but I was beginning to get a bit nervous. People were starting to arrive; the wedding was supposed to start at 4:15. But still, at 4pm, no groom. I tried to keep a smile on my face, but let's face it... I was worried a little bit when they told me he wasn't there yet.

I knew he'd be there - I don't think there's ever been a man more anxious to get married than my husband! LOL! I knew it wasn't HIM that was causing the delay, but when the groom's 1/2 an hour late, it doesn't really matter whose FAULT it is. But finally, at 4:00, the groom and his GM's finally showed up.

But the groom wasn't the only one late. The violinist didn't show up until nearly 4pm (even though he was supposed to start at 3:30). And my sister, who was supposed to do the guest book, didn't show up until AFTER 4pm, so there was nobody there to have guests sign the guest book.
At 4:20, the ceremony started - only 5 minutes late. Not bad for the groom being 1/2 an hour late! LOL! The song I chose for the bridesmaids and flower girls/ring bearer to enter into was a little short. The flower girls/ring bearer ended up entering to nothing at all, which was OK. They still did a great job!

I had my father and my brother walk me down the isle. My father has Alzheimer's, so I knew he needed help. My brother did a great job being the support for that. He said the line of who gives this woman to be married to this man, and helped my dad find his seat afterwards.

The only thing that went wrong during the ceremony was the music. During the rehearsal the night before, the lady owner of the chapel was there to do the music. But the day of the wedding, it was her husband who did the music! She wasn't even there! So, her husband had NO clue of when to start the music and what to do! I gave him a copy of the actual ceremony (not just the program) of EXACTLY what was going to be said, and when to play the music, and highlighted each song he was supposed to play. All he had to do was read along as the pastor said the ceremony, and then play the next song (they were in order on the CD) whenever there was a highlighted song. He screwed up EVERY single time! He played songs when songs weren't supposed to be played! He played the WRONG songs! He forgot to STOP the CD after a song had played and just let it go on to the next song. Everything he COULD have done wrong, he did wrong! LOL! But other than that, the ceremony went perfectly.

My seven year old niece sang "As the Deer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZv3jzOTE70)" and did an AMAZING job!!! I was nervous because this past summer when she was here to visit, she didn't really know the song very well. She knew the words, but not the melody and would sort of make up her own melody as she went along. I was afraid she was going to do that during the actual ceremony, but she didn't! She did GREAT and everyone was impressed with how great of a voice she has and how well she sang!
One of my bridesmaids sang "At the Beginning (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mct2-ElrXbE)" by Richard Marx and Donna Lewis. That song was the inspiration for the vows that we wrote ourselves. So, we had her sing that song right before we said our vows.
For the Unity Candle lighting, we used "For My Wedding (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHpKNyxXVmU)".
Then, Nate's mom, uncle and grandfather did an instrumental version of "Be Thou My Vision (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XZ3ja-quhA)" that was just BEAUTIFUL! I love the lyrics to this song, but they just did an instrumental version, and it was VERY lovely. I would have loved to have had someone sing it, but then it would have drowned out the harmonica, dulcimer and guitar (especially the harmonica and dulcimer) and I don't think it would have been as good. They did a great job!

Then, we exited to "Ever, Ever After (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO_ezFo2JpM)" to keep the fairytale theme!

And then....
The Carriage Ride!!!
