I think I've decided to use M&Ms for favors. We would order personalized M&Ms and it will be kind of expensive to just use those. What could I mix with them?

mix the personalized ones with plain m&m

You could put the personalized ones with the plain in a glass. That would be cute.

I had custom M&Ms for my engagement party, like already mentioned I just mixed them in with regular M&Ms (in complimenting colors to the custom ones) and also used my own packaging instead of the options provided by the M&M website...it worked out not costing too much.
It's a cute idea to use them as favors.

I like the idea of using the custom ones with plain ones. I think that would be best! I'm not sure what else goes really well with M&M's. Good luck though1

My freind did these for her wedding and she also had some chocolates made up in her wedding colors. I think she had some molds and did them herself. She then used them with the M&M's.

I could always stock up during V-Day since my main color is red! But the wedding is in July, they'd still be fine wouldn't they?

As long as you dont open the packages they should be just fine.

Don't open the package, and put em in your freezer. They should be good to go. Also, did you check the M & M website, they let you buy custom colors, which are still more expensive than regular, but cheaper than the personalized -- AND you wouldn't have to sort through a bunch of packages.

Its actually even cheaper to just go to a candy store that sells all the M&M colors and buy them by the oz in the exact colour(s) you want...they have all the same colors as the personalized ones.

Actually, I was just going to order plain red and yellow ones off the website. I determined that the personalized ones would be way too expensive.

The personalized ones are pricey (albeit very cute), if you're just getting plain colours check out candy stores in your area, depending on the store it can be a lot cheaper than the M&M store.

Do you have any ideas on how you'll package them?

How long do m & m's stay good, even if not frozen. I was thinking of buying them around V-day, but we aren't getting married until september...is that way too long?

As far as what goes with m & m's, you could always do like nuts or marshmallows or something else you would find in a trail mix...thats all I can think of!

If you kept them in a cool place and didn't open them I think they should be fine...also you could check the best before date on the packet when the valentines M&Ms come out to make sure they will still be good at the time of your wedding. Most candy doesn't go bad that soon, they only need to last 7 months which isn't too long.

You might mix M&M's with Jordan Almonds, I've seen this done before. But I don't know how cheap that would be.

You could even do regular plain candy covered chocolates if you can find your colors.

I thought about mixing them with nuts, but I think we might be serving nuts. If not, I could maybe do that. I also just found the jelly bean website. You can order those in certain colors too, but FH doesn't want those. I want to package them in music note cookie cutters and wrap them in tulle and tie them with a red ribbon.

If you freeze them, will the color melt together when they thaw?

Yes, the colors will melt together when they thaw. JUst buy them and put them in an airtight container, like a freezer bag. Then keep them in a cool dry place. They willl be fine for YEARS.
