OMG it took me so long to be able to start this I hope that I can remember everything alright. :bbeek: Ok let me start off with the day before the wedding. My in-laws had already made the 6 hour drive up from Arkansas the day before so my father-in-law, Big Jim, could attend DH's bachelor party. My mother drove in from Kansas City around 1pm on the 9th to help with whatever she could. So far it had just been me and my three biggest helpers exchanging emails, now we were all going to finally be in the same room figuring things out.
While my MIL got busy making her homemade pancet for the reception, my mom and I went to Sam's club to get the last bits of food. I had decided against those wedding butter mints which are a classic staple at the cake table and went for the Jelly Belly Jelly Beans. Needless to say those were a hit at the wedding (my 5 yr old daughter had a flat plate BRIMMING with them at one point O.o). I was going to make my shrimp scampi for the wedding as well, but while we were at the store I decided against it and got pop, ingredients for butterbeer, and nuts and jelly beans. While we were there I saw DH's ex gf (my oldest daughter's mom) working one of the sample booths and I am not ashamed to say I gloated a little. She seemed to be trying to stay invisible but I didn't let that happen. I'm shameless, I know. But I had actually invited her to the wedding after finding out she had been telling my photographer (a mutual friend) that DH didn't really wanna BE with me and regretted leaving her and that he would never actually go through with the wedding. Was it childish to invite her tot he wedding? Maybe... but that didn't stop me. Her ego----> :drv:<---me.
LOL. So after that we went back home for some much needed visiting and relaxing. I knew as soon as MOH arrived we would be kicking back into detail mode. We visited for a while, I was so happy my In-laws and mother got along so well (MIL even called my mom a hooker at one point... long funny story LOL and it became a long running joke throughout the weekend). Then a bomb dropped. My DH's grandmother messaged him and told him she would, in fact, not be able to make it. Even though she had originally not been thought to be able to, when the possibility was suddenly there it had excited DH so much. I watched his face go from happy to sad in 3.5 seconds and I wanted to cry. Even more so because after finding out his grandmother couldn't come, we couldn't get ahold of his bio-dad either. There had always been animosity between them since he was 10, and now he started to think his dad was going to abandon him again on his big day.
..... to be continued.
