Seeing as we have a few Twins here. Mothers of Twins, expectant Mothers of Twins and Triplets. Here's the place to ask. ;)

When the Babies are born and the Birth Certificate is filled out. They obviously get one each. But does it state on there that they are a Twin / Triplet etc?

I found out the other day that i work with a Triplet. I asked her if she looks like her siblings. She said noway, they have Beards and she doesn't  It wasn't until she went home that i wondered about the Certificates.

I know here in Arizona they do. They list it as single/multiple. I don't know if they do it for trips and quads though.

Maybe they say: one of four???

That's an interesting question. I never would've thought they'd do anything different, but I guess it makes sense since they're usually born on the same day, to the same parents. I guess I'll find out what happens here when our twins are born.

I think I have seen where they put single birth on a regular one, so I assume it would be "multiple birth" for twins and such.

Roxanne's says SINGLE BIRTH
Sophia and Grace's say MULTIPLE BIRTH.

Only if you look at their Time of Arrival - you'll see that one is older than the other. And I believe it says something about being a live birth. I have to find it.

Ours in the UK don't say time of Birth. Infact you can get a Birth Certificate that only says who the child is and what date / place they were born. Nothing about the Parents.

It wasn't until i was in my Thirties that i applied for a Registration of Birth. Which has the same details of a Birth Certificate. But says who the Parents are too.

I ordered mine from the local Registrar and was told to open the envelope there to make sure there were no spelling mistakes. I opened it, read it and said "Oh Fook" The Woman ran over to see what was spelt wrong.
I said "Nothing is spelt wrong. It's just my Mum is my Mum and my Dad is my Dad. I was hoping i was adopted and not related to those nutters"

Hahah, you're silly. When I applied for the twins passports I was going over our birth certificates and it was then that I realized my husband's father wasn't listed. It actually said "UNKNOWN" - he was completely surprised. His mom insisted that she couldn't find his b/c and signed an affidavit for any and everything related to his birth. It was ridiculous. As his wife I went to the courthouse and picked up a copy of his b/c easy as pie. That's one of the reasons his mom hates me. Because I aired her dirty laundry.

We've since found out that only 2 of her six children have the same father. Her husband (my FIL) has known all along and like a real man has raised each child as his own. I  that man. Nick learned his virtues from him.:yesnod:

I also learned from our birth certs that Nick and I were born at the same hospital, by the same doctor, three years apart. Cool. Our doctor is still practicing, we sent him an email telling him our story.

How cool is that. I ended up living next door to a guy who was born in the same ward at the same time as me. And when i went through some photos of the (Then) Husband taken years previous. I saw our neighbour in the background. I wonder if he was following us. :laugh2:

That is so neat!!!

Speaking of multiple birth stories, when my sister's kids were born, she didn't want ANYONE knowing which one was born first, so she asked the doctor to put on the BC the same time for both babies, but he said that it was an official document and that he couldn't do that. :coolblue:

Speaking of same day to same parents, my best friends: the second oldest was born 4 years TO THE DAY after the oldest. So, the oldest and the second oldest share a birth date! The third oldest, my best friend/MOH, was born 2 years after the second ONE DAY BEFORE!!! And that's because they induced labor because the doctor was going on vacation. Their mom wishes that she had NOT induced labor because she thinks she would have been born on the exact same day as her two other sisters. The forth child was a boy... he's the only one with a completely different birth date, 6 months away from theirs. The girls were always jealous because they always had to share a birthday party AND because they were all girls and they only had so much space, they also had to share a room. But as a boy, and because his birthday was 6 months away from theirs, he got his own birthday party AND his own room! :laugh2:

Yeah it's a legal document. He'd lose his license for fudging about something so simple as time of birth. Which in actuality is very important. Heaven forbid a baby doesn't live beyond a few hours, time of birth and time of death hold equal weight.

Oh, I definitely see why it could be a big deal. I'd never ask a doctor to fudge a document like that, but the Devil's Advocate part of me is like, "how would anyone even know that the doc changed the time by 2 minutes?!"
