What is the best kind of diapers, from your experience? I was thinking it might be a good idea for us to try and stock up on diapers... but now I'm thinking maybe we should wait until we know which diapers work the best for us.
I wanted to buy some packs at my work the other day because they were on sale and it was extra discount day, but one of my coworkers said that Pampers (the ones I was going to buy) gave bad diaper rash and that Huggies are better. I have also heard (I think from someone one here) that Pampers Swaddlers are really good... so I am confused.
Does anyone have any diaper advice? Oy... this is only one aspect of baby raising that I'm going to have questions about, just to warn you all! :)

best advice is
1-use Amazon mom and subscribe n save(u can unsubscribe to prevent a re-delivery of a size you don't need
2- don't stock up too much... b/c of the preference issue and u don't know how long your babies will be in a certain size
when alex arrived we had a case of pampers we bought, and a small pack of fisher-price and the packs of swaddlers from the hospital I hated all but the pampers... that lasted us and we just moved onto size 1's when we finished what we had

We cloth diaper so I can't give too much in the way of sposie experience but we have used them some. We liked the pampers with the moisture line while we were waiting for her to grow into the cloth. She was only peeing a little at first so the line helped us to know that she needed changed.
We have used a few huggies from a pack someone gave us and I liked the fit better than the pampers. But that would vary baby to baby.

I've tried a few different kinds. Our favorites, Pampers and Luvs. The Pampers with Dry Max was what was causing the rash in babies. I read somewhere they were getting rid of that sometime in the near future though. Luvs did work pretty good for us though, and cheaper then Pampers. Huggies my boys leaked right though.
Really it all depends on the kids. Some do better with some brands then others. But I do know that most hospitals will use pampers swaddlers and most of the people I know use pampers.

My sister uses cloth diapers too and I'd highly recommend doing those if you were up to it - I never would have been a fan til' I saw how well they worked and how easy it was. But that being said - I heard the same thing about the "dry max" that they may be getting rid of them b/c of all the problems they have had with them. My sister didn't use maybe sposies - only when she had the belly button problem when we first brought my niece home and we used whatever kind the hospital gave us...
I use Pampers and really love them. I have tried the Babies R Us brand...those were good too, plus they smelled like baby powder. :) I don't get them anymore just cause the store is too far from my house....I have used the Walmart brand parents choice....let's just say...not my choice to buy again! They smelled funny and didn't hold alot which cause leak thru's.

Hmmm.. Maybe I will just wait and get some closer to the time the babies come. But it sounds like the Pampers is solved, so I won't be opposed to those. I had thought about maybe trying cloth diapers... but hubby and I are both a bit... laid back, so I don't see us keeping up with washing them, especially with two... and already having so much laundry with their clothes, burp rags, etc. I might still ask what he thinks about them, but I don't think he'll be too enthused about them.
Thanks for the suggestions! :)

As a fellow twin mom - stock up now! We made it a rule when I was preg with Sofigra that anytime we went to market, we bought a pack of diapers. Usually Pampers or Luvs. If you're concerned that you won't like a certain brand, don't worry about it. At my baby showers I received tons of store brand and Huggies diapers that I returned. Because the diapers weren't opened, it was never an issue.
We have not run out of diapers yet! And we're 4.5 months in. We use 8 diapers per day, per kid (I bf so they poop twice/day) = 16 x 7days = 112 x 4weeks = approx 450 diapers per month which is like 2 1/2 cases. We actually STOPPED buying diapers at the market because we had too many. We're kinda just stepping into the Size 2's but still using up all the Size 1's. That's another thing, our girls didn't wear preemie size for very long but they could fit them for a while. It's not like they were that active in the beginning.
At 5 months preg with the Frat boys we're going to resume buying diapers everytime we go to market to make sure we have enough for all of the twins.
If I did anything right with Sofigra it was deciding to buy diapers everytime we went out. Oh and I only bought with coupons! ;) I kept coupons in the car so I had NO excuse!

With twins, we are washing stuff everyday! From blankies to burp cloths to socks... if we don't wash everyday, their dirty clothes baskets loads up. My girls average about 2 clothes changes per day including bathtime/pj's. They don't spit up on themselves much and I usually can get away with wiping their hands and arms down after eating solids.
If it was only one baby I'd probably get away with every other day but with twins, it's so much more. Plus our girls share everything. We don't dress them in matching outfits so things get used more often. I used to dress one in a certain color but we're over that. We just grab whatever out of the closet and keep moving. I paint Sophia's big toe blue so I always know it's her. Not that they're super identical but I do get mixed up sometimes.
Anyway - people always say I should do the cloth diaper but I can't. Not with twins. I'd be using up in laundry/water resources what I'm using with throwaways. No thanks. We're barely scraping by with our rigid routine as it is. Somedays I am not enough mommy for them and they start crying in surround sound. It usually happens when they're hungry and I'm not ready to nurse them. Lately we've been back to tandem nursing. I swear, there is no easy solution to any of this. Just when I think we're done with tandem nursing, they sync their hunger schedules up and want to be fed at the same time. I have to wear clothes with pockets large enough for my cell or the remote otherwise I'm stuck twiddling my thumbs while they nurse themselves to sleep.

We used Kirkland-brand (from Costco) and then switched to Huggies when we did the price analysis and they were a little cheaper.
Brant also got diaper rash from Pampers, so we stopped using those. I'm pretty sure they were the dry-max kind.
And we tried overnight diapers (EVERY brand) and they never really worked for us. Brant would always wake up wet. But now that he's older, we just feed him a little less milk at bedtime and use his Huggies. Most mornings he's dry, but some mornings (like today) he's soaked through. Just comes with the territory, I guess!

We hardly used disposables at all, but Pampers Swaddlers worked for us in the beginning. And we got some Huggies Jeans (lol) for a trip to Boston-those were fine too!

I love Pampers Swaddlers! They are so soft and they have kept the girls very dry and we've never had a single diaper rash, never had to use diaper rash creams or any problems. I have tried cheaper (store brand & even Pampers) diapers and just don't like them compared to swaddlers. I think a lot of it depends on the babies, your preferences and also what you can afford or are willing to spend. I've also heard that some moms w/ boys prefer Huggies and moms with girls prefer Pampers. But that isn't true for everyone, of course. Our NICU used Pampers Swaddlers so we were used to using them and so that's why we chose that brand.
I use Amazon mom and it saves a lot of money! I highly recommend it. I save $13 per box of diapers (sometimes more when they have coupons) and get free 2 day shipping.
The only ones that work for Katie to my satisfaction are Up/Ups which are Target brand. I've tried Huggies, Pampers, Luvs, BrU, and Parent's Choice (Walmart brand). Huggies and pampers leaked. Luvs - I liked them but 2's are too small, 3's are too big. BrU - I liked them but they don't fit her right anymore, and Parent's Choice just stink even clean.
So, Up&Up's are my choice of diaper. I have cloths but don't use them because I can't keep up on the laundry and our water is so hard the diapers leak.

I ran out of our normal diapers so I broke out a box of Pampers Baby Dry (cheaper than swaddlers) that was given to us and sitting in our garage. The did alright in the day time but when we got up this morning, they were leaking. :( I was hoping I could get the cheaper ones to work because the price goes up once you go to size 3's and I was hoping to not spend as much, but it looks like I'm going to stick with the swaddlers until they get to size 4.
