View Full Version : Rent Houses - Gone!
We were supposed to go look at 7 rent houses today and now all but 2 are taken. Our realtor told us that they don't show rent houses on weekends when we asked to go look at these places on Saturday. I had a bad feeling about all of this, but I just kept it to myself. Well, apparently, some realtors do work weekends because all of these were rented over the weekend.
It shouldn't be that big of a deal, but we've spent every day that Chad has off for the last month driving around looking at rent houses. We have gone to dump after dump and were losing hope when we finally found a neighborhood that is perfect. It's close enough to downtown Austin, full of families, neighborhood pool, playgrounds, parks, tennis courts, wooded running trails...all of the amenities of newer neighborhoods but it's an older, charming, established neighborhood with character. It just so happens that a developer in the mid-90s built about 30 nice modern duplexes in the neighborhood. You just don't see that very often!
I just really had to complain...I'm frustrated to the point of tears and it feels like things are falling apart. We move in about a month!
I hope and pray that one of these two houses we're looking at this afternoon is the perfect one. :crossfingers:

I dumped a realtor for less! You can move on to a new one that is actually helpful. Can you ask if there are any others you can swing by today that fit your criteria? Hopefully you'll find a winner today and don't have to worry about it. :crossfingers:

Girl, are you moving into my place? LOL! Sounds like my former neighborhood. I'm hoping you find that perfect home! :yesnod:
Well, one of those two places the other day was perfect. We took our application in yesterday and then got a call ten minutes later and were told that the duplex wasn't even available when we toured it. It had already been rented, but somebody had neglected to update the MLS! It was ten times nicer than anything that we've seen and I just don't think that we'll find anything comparable. We're running out of time and I think we might end up settling before we don't have a place to live at all. I'm feeling so defeated!

That stinks :( A while back when we thought we wanted to buy a house the agent even had as go as far as filling out paperwork to put in an offer on the house - only for her to realize afterwards that it had already been sold. It stinks when you feel like you've wasted your time like that :( Then to have really liked it on top of that!

I hope you can find something perfect and soon!
I would definitely get a new realtor, that's ridiculous.

Good luck Keely! I hope you find something soon. If there is one thing that I learned while house hunting a few years ago is that for every house that doesn't work out, you are that much closer to the perfect house that tops every other house you loved.
