A really good mutual friend of DH and mine knew that both of us knew American Sign Language and recommended to him that he introduce himself. So, one day, my hubby just walked into my apartment (didn’t even knock, haha!) and introduced himself to me and my roommates. He was fluent in ASL and we were taking Signing classes at our university. He offered to help us anytime we needed help with it. We chatted for a couple hours and as he was about to leave I said “I was just about to make ginger snaps—you should stay!” I instantly hoped I didn’t come across as too eager, but he seemed happy to stay. :crossfingers:
Our apartment started watching Pride and Prejudice (the long version ;)) and he joined us! Huge points, right?! One night, I couldn’t make it for the segment we were watching that evening but DH still showed up. I started to become nervous that he might like one of my roommates. Later he told me that “every good boyfriend knows he has to have the approval of the roommates. That’s why I still showed up. Besides, I really DO like Pride and Prejudice!” HEHE! :whew:
DH and I went on a walk a couple weeks later. He had a goatee and asked me what I thought of facial hair and I told him I hated it. The next time I saw him it was completely shaved and I knew then that he must like me. :soppy:
We dated for a few weeks and we are already saying “I love you.” It was moving quickly, but for some reason it didn’t feel rushed. We saw each other every single day for weeks, sometimes for only just a few minutes, but we never missed a day and he was telling me how much he loved me several times a day. Only two months after we had our first date he told me “You know the reason I say “I love you” so often is because I am trying to stop myself from asking you to marry me.” He told me he had known from week 2 that I was the one for him, but didn’t say anything because he didn’t want to scare me away. I thought I should be scared, but it felt right. :luxlove:
A month later--only three months after our first date--he brought me back to the place of our first date. He had learned a few swing dance moves (he knew I loved dancing) so he danced with me. Then he pulled out a bouquet of a dozen red roses and a single white rose. Each red rose had a card on it that gave a reason why he loved me. Then, the white rose had a gorgeous bridge ring on it. Of course I said yes. We were married only four months later! :wedding:
Now, four years later we have a beautifully cute 2 year old boy and another son due in November!:preggo:
