Do you and your family exchange keys to each other's houses?

I have a key to my parent's house, but they don't have keys to my place. I don't have any other keys and no one has keys to our place.

DH and I both have a key to his parents' house because we used to live there. And of course my sister has a key for our house since she lives here.. she had one before that though because we had her house and cat sit when we were in New York. DH's brother also has a key to our house for that reason. We just kinda never got it back from him.

My family is notorious for losing keys. So, I gave mom a key to my house - and God only knows where it is. I don't have a key to her house yet.

Yep, got my brother's garage code and my parents keys. They both have ours, too. Not sure they remember our code, though. I don't think they've ever had to use it!

Yep, in DH's family everyone pretty much has keys to everyone's house. lol We have keys & codes to his parent's house, their garages and shop and also to his Aunt's & Grandma's, his brother's and sister's houses. I have a key to my mom's house. And a lot of people still have keys to our house, including trusted friends and family members. When I was in the hospital we had to have people come over t let the dogs out and spend time w/ them 4 times a day so we enlisted a lot of people's help!

I have a key to my mom's house.

We don't live in the same state so it would be kind of weird for them to have a key to my place. ;) But even when we did live in the same state I didn't give anyone a key.

I have a key to my brother's place, but not my sisters. I also have/had a key for my grandpa's house.

We have the code to his parents house, the key to my moms and sisters house. And I don't think any of them have a key to our house.

Neither of us have keys to our parents' places nor do they have ones to our or our security code for the alarm. However, I do have my parents security alarm code as backup if they can't reach my parents.

However, my sister lives with us so obviously she has a key to our place along with the security code. Also one of DH's friends has a key and the security code to our place. He's checked in on the cat for us when we vacation during the times my sister hasn't lived with us.

I have the keys to my step-mom's and the in-laws' houses. I don't know that his family has a key to our place, but they have the garage code. Both my step-mom and my brother have a key to our place.

Yep. But then again, I only live a block away from my parents, and they technically own my house, so yes - we each have keys to each other's houses. I used to have a key to my grandparents' house too, but there's really no point because they rarely actually lock their house. :boggle:

I have keys to my mom's house, plus the garage code and a garage door opener in my car. She has keys to our house and DH's parents have keys to our house, but those are for emergencies only. None of our parents just come let themselves in for anything.

Our friend in Australia has a key to our old house. Does that count :laugh2: He stayed with us for six weeks so we gave him a key.

I have swapped keys with "Mum" and i do have a key to my Parents House. Even though the lock was changed years ago. I kinda don't want to throw it away.

The Kids get a key when they come and stay. Saves us having to get up to open the door when they run in and out. You can just open the door here. So we lock it from inside as soon as we get in.

We have keys for my M&FIL's house, my BIL's house and my parents house. No one has a key to our house, but they all know how to get in if they need to ;)

i have a key to my moms house because i house sit and dog sit for her when she goes away and i somewhere i have a key to my dads house... FHs mom and grandparents have a key to our house. His grandparents dont use it i think because their scared of the dogs (they used to do alot of interior work when FH first bought it) but his mom will just let herself in somethimes... it freaks me out a little when i come home and theres food or mail on the table that wasnt there when we left in the morning :boggle: we dont have a key to his parents house but we know how to get in if we have too.. and his grandparents just leave the doors open so i suppose we dont need a key for there either :boggle:...

Nobody has keys, however my parents, who live out of town, have a garage door opener for our house which is really the only way we get in and out of our house anyways (even though we do have keys in case our power goes out). Although I'm not going to be specific, my brother, parents and DH's uncle know how to get into our house if they need to when we aren't home.
