Okay. My family owns a pest control company My dad is an exterminator. My HUSBAND is an exterminator. MY BROTHER who lives four houses down is an exterminator! MY UNCLE IS AN EXTERMINATOR!
HOW DO I HAVE A SCORPION PROBLEM!??!
I almost peed myself when I found a baby scorpion next to my bed. It was a bark scorpion too, the lethal kind. Uh, hello! I have a 16 month old running around all the time and loves to pick things up. I am beyond freaked out. Shane is at work right now, and I am at my moms all alone because I am too afraid to go home! I had scorpion dreams all night, lol.
I'm making Shane stop at the bug place and grab some Demand. That's the only chemical that will keep them out. He sprayed with [Telstar 2] to make me feel better but I know those little jerks will live through that.
I am so freaked out. I am determined to clean out my entire house today so I can feel better. My uncle told me the neighborhood probably has a nest of scorpions, and unfortunetly, they're territorial. And that means more!

Oh wow! No wonder you're freaked out! I would be too! But I'm glad nobody has gotten hurt - that's normally how you find out that you've got scorpions... someone gets hurt and it's off to the hospital! I'm glad that hasn't happened and I do hope that you can get rid of them soon!!!

I have seen small scorpions at our place a few times before, usually in the bathroom. I am not a fan of them, but just kill them and try not to think about it.
I thought/hoped they were not really dangerous :fear:
Hope you don't see anymore ... well see them or not, I hope there are no more!

Brandi- I just asked Shane, and he said that there is only one lethal or dangerous scorpion in the US and it's the bark scorpion..and it's only in AZ. So you are safe! For the other ones, I am sure they just really really hurt when they sting!
Jan- What's black lighting? I'm afraid to know!!

Some people are allergic though, and even the non-lethal ones can hurt pretty bad.
It's where you use a black light at night in and around your house. It lights up scorpions like the 4th of July!

Totally stealing you thread. But, when fh and I first got together, we were messin around a little bit, and he got stung by a scorpion on his inner thigh. It sent him to the hospital because he had numbness in his ummm. yeah :bbeek: A few months later, and it happened again, same spot, different thigh!
This was at the lake, where they are everywhere. Apparently he thought I was less lethal than the scorpions cuz he is still around :hearts:

Don't tell your FH...but I totally LOL'd for so long reading this, that Shane asked me what was wrong. LOL!!
Today we were at Walmart and Shane was suggesting the black light thing. I am WAY TO SCARED to do that! I like being in my own head thinking there is only one around my house, and that I killed him. Hehehe.:sweatdrop:

I feel your pain. I found a huge black spider nestled high in a ceiling corner the other day and rather than try to kill it and risk it jumping on my face, I left it there. Spider is gone now and I'm terrified to go in that room because I don't know where he went. :(
Can Shane stop by later and spray some of that Demand around our house? The construction has brought in all kinds of 4 legged friends.

Eeeeek, I hate spiders!!!!!!!!! I found a wolf spider in our house once as I got up in the middle of the night to go the bathroom. I almost stepped on him!
And sure! I'll send him over. We wouldn't mind a road trip...it's summer after all!

You can also use a black light to find places where your cat has peed. Sad that I know that! :realmad:

Sure glad i live in the UK. The most we get is a couple of Spiders and the odd Moth or Fly indoors. In the garden it's Worms and the odd Slug.
Although they do say in London you can stand anywhere. And be within a metre of a Rat and not know it. (We're 20 mile from the City)
I guess that's the joys of living in the US (And Australia) Lots of creepy crawlies that i only get to see in the Zoo.
Hope Shane can do something about it. I dread to think of Lily coming across anything.

They also used Black Light in the film Gone In 60 Seconds. ;)
I remember them putting Black Light against a wall in the City once. And it showed up teeny tiny Scorpions that live on Brick Dust. They said they are harmless.

Oh you don't have to worry about that! If I tell him I told, he would be mortified!!!
Me too! We haven't had any scorpions at home, but I still don't want to try the black light and find out we do have some. Fh's brother owns a pest control company too, so we get chemical to spray all the time.
And odd about the cat pee

I don't know how far out he goes, but it's Church's Pest Control. He does mainly Mesa and the East Valley.

I've never heard of that company before, but I live over in the west Valley!
I'm starting to feel a little more comfortable in the house. I still look EVERYWHERE when I walk around though

OMG how creepy! I can't even imagine. I can't stand the stupid ants that keep coming in our house and the boxelder bugs that live here all winter. But scorpions!! Makes me shudder!

Eekkk!!! Well I have to deal with ridiculously unpredictable weather and lots of snow, but thank god we don't have scorpions or those creepy large spiders! The worst thing we have to deal with is ants or daddy long legs.
