Shane was playing with Lily the other night and he felt on her leg that she had a hard bump under the skin. It almost feels like a hard pea. I'm taking her to the doctor but not for a few hours and I was going to see if you ladies have any ideas what it could be? I'm pretty worried.
The only thing I can think is I know she got a bug bite in that spot maybe a month or so ago, the bug bite is gone on the surface of the skin, but now that spot has the lump.

Where on the leg is it? It could be a lymph node.

It's on her upper leg (thigh?) and facing front. Like, if you're looking at her face on.

Hmm not a lymph node then. Maybe she is just very sensitive to the bug bite? Good luck at the appointment

Thanks. I hope it's nothing. Only three more hours!

Just got back from ER..kinda a wreck. They had no idea what it was except a "mass". They ordered an ultrasound and found out that it's fluid filled. That's all they can tell me. But they are ordering another ultrasound for next week, and possibly more tests to see if the mass is cancerous or not.
I'm trying not to cry while writing this!

Oh Danielle, I'm so sorry. There's never a good time for that, but I know things have been especially stressful lately.

Fingers crossed it's nothing. When I was a baby, they thought I had something bad like spina bifida but turned out to be wrong.

I'm sorry Danielle :flower: If it makes you feel any better at all, tumours are almost always solid rather then fluid filled, so the chances of it being cancerous are extremely remote. I wonder why they didn't just pop a syringe in and extract some of the fluid for testing instead of sending you home with that hovering over your head? Maybe it would be worth going to see a GP rather then the ER, they might be able to spend a bit more time on it and shed some light a bit quicker. Fingers crossed for Lily!

The woman at the ER was horrible. She was so unprofessional! She looked at me like I was an idiot anytime I said anything to her. She rushed us and wouldn't listen to my concerns. I was very disappointed and I am even more worried then when I came in :(

Then definitely go see someone else. Does Lily have a pedi? If you call crying and concerned, they will fit you in asap.

Oh yes, we saw her Pediatrician first. They are ordering some more tests for her thankfully. I hope they can get us in ASAP!

My niece had a tumor on her leg right around this age, although her grew to the size of a golf ball. It was totally benign. She had it removed and now is a completely normal and healthy 11 year old.

Really? That makes me feel a lot better. I was so worried last night..but then people kept saying that fluid filled is probably better then hard so maybe that's true? It made me feel better at least.

I'm still really worried though, waiting is the worst part! I wish doctors could get you in like right away
