I'm going to have to say, all the above.

Paris Hilton - bimbo
Barbie - no girl could ever realistically have her figure
Playboy bunnies - Hugh Hefner, need I say more
Hooters - just sad
Porn stars - sickening
George Bush - ultra-conservative

I said all of the above but I can't comment on bush! I think all of those things are dispicable...I'm happy that they finally changed the figure on barbie but please, let's give her a waist bigger then a 1-2!!! Let's be realistic!!

Well my thoughts are probably not going to be popular ones, but here goes anyway ... Generally I tend to think women are 'taken back' because they let themselves be. I am not one to stand back and be taken advantage of or let someone tell me I 'should' be or act a certain way, or I can't do something because I am a woman.

Yes, I have experienced some discrimination in the work place in the past but, I don't see that it is the fault of any of these people.

*Paris Hilton - Yes she is a bimbo and an idiot, but I wouldn't be surprised if she is just playing the part.

*Barbie - No girl could ever realistically have her figure, no but I see this along the same lines as models. Barbie is a fashion model and models are thin and pretty. Does that mean the rest of us are less than ideal? No, it just means we are all different. Do I think they should change Barbie, sure why not, maybe give her some friends that look like more 'average' women.

*Playboy bunnies - Hugh Hefner, is a swinger and a the bachelor that many men dream to be. But from what I've heard he loves his family and he takes care of those around him. Just because I don't agree with his lifestyle doesn't mean he is a bad person or he has done anything to set women back. He just took advantage of something that was already there and has built an empire on it.

*Hooters - To me this all goes back to the old 'sex sells' thing. But I'd rather see my man frequent Hooters than a strip club. It is just a place where lonely men can go and are made to feel good by pretty girls. No one is forcing these women to work there and no one is forcing the men to go.

*Porn stars - I've watched porn with my husband ... I don't agree with the life these people lead but again, just because I don't agree with the lifestyle doesn't mean these people are bad. Sex sells, as long as there is a market for it, there will be porn. If you don't like it, don't watch.

*George Bush - ultra-conservative ... I agree, but I don't think he has set women back any more than they were before.

Most of the poll choices are related to sex (Bush is a whole other topic ;)) well as sad as it is, sex sells and there isn't much we can do about it. It is only demeaning when we let it be. Why not embrace our sexual powers, stand up and be proud of your sexuality.

Yes there are gonna be some crazy sickos out there that will take advantage of women and that think women are lesser people, but they are not the majority.

I don't know that I have thoroughly expressed the point I was trying to make, I don't feel well today, but I hope you get the idea.

But as with anything else, I completely respect the opinions of others even it they are not the same.

Brandi- It wouldn't let me agree with your post, but I couldn't have said it better myself!

I think women are constantly making progress and I don't think anything has set us back so to speak. The people who I see the most fault in are the ones who think women are lesser people (like one of my ex BFs), anyone who is pro life (and/or anti abortion), or people that would discriminate against women simply for being women (the ones who would not vote for a woman president, just b/c she is a woman).

Well I guess I have to spread the rep love too, but I am glad you agree :D I was afraid that no one would ;)

In my honest opinion, that just makes it worse. I can't stand that I even have to know who this woman is. :bbconfused:

I can't stand Paris Hilton but she has made a name and brand for herself. She isn't nearly as air headed as she would like you to believe. Do I want to be like Paris? No. Do I think Paris is a goodbusiness woman? Yes. She is the same thing that Madonna was 20 years ago when she hit the scene. Nowdays Madonna is admirable to most circles.

For the most part, I agree with what Brandi said. But, I like Barbie. I like Barbie a lot. She was my favorite toy growing up. Barbie might be prettier than the average girl, but the fact of the matter is, litle girls aren't going to play with a doll who looks like a frumpy, middle aged, hosuewife. Besides, Barbie has been a doctor, astronaut, scientist, Colonel in all 4 branches of the military, vetrinarian, rock star, surfer chic, artist, actress, cowgirl, and a million and one other things. She is abetter role model than people think. I would rather my daughter being playing with Dr. Barbie as opposed to those club kid Bratz Dolls or some baby doll and an Easy Bake Over.

George Bush, I could go on days about. Oh, how I love to hate President Shrub. It has actually become a hobby. But, anymore it is just too easy to do so the thrill is gone. I have temporarily retired from Bush bashing. Although, he has appointed SEVERAL health posts to doctors who do NOT feel that women should be allowed access to birth control and contraceptive devices. Let's not even talk about what he has done to the status of women in thrid world nations by cutting off US Federal Funding to any clinic that offers abortions or abortion counciling.
