I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Arizona State University. I'm not interested in going for my Master's degree. :)

I opted not to go to college. I looked into it, but I found that they wouldn't teach me much more than I already knew until pretty far into the whole thing. I wanted to be a photographer and I figured I could make better use of the money myself.

I got books and film and learned on my own, then I interned with a couple of other photographers and finally started my own business as a wedding and portrait photographer. It was great for a while but I got burned out on it. My real love is fine art and nature photography anyway.

Now I am in web design and marketing and I've learned about that on my own too.

I went and got my state license for Respiratory Therapy. This took two years or more. I am still in college for my Paralegal. But seriously thinking of dropping it and attending for a business degree.

I have Bachelor's Degrees in Political Science (minored in international relations) and History (minored in women's issues) and a law degree (Juris Doctorate). I also hold a state certificate to teach in the social studies field from 7-12 grade. I am currently shopping around for graduate schools to get a Master's and eventually PhD in something dealing with foreign relations.

In December I will have a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Speech Communication. I will also be certified by May to teach grades 4-8 as a generalist, which means I can teach any subject in those grades.

I have 2 college diploma's. Here we don't have bachelors and things like that at the college level. That's more the University level.
I've graduated from Interior Design and Graphic Design with Honors. I have not yet gone for my ARIDO certification with interior Design.

As a teacher in NY, I had no choice but to get a master's degree. You can't get a permanent teaching license in NY without a master's degree. Luckily, the college I went to for undergrad paid for my degree in exchange for me working in the dept I'd been working in. They paid me too!! It was a really nice deal!:D :D

What is the difference between college and university? Here college and university can mean the same thing.

They are different here too - university is something you go to get a degree, you wouldnt really go to college to get one. I have done many college courses over the years but this is the only time i have gone to Uni. as i said its only for a degree which takes several years. Dont really know how else to describe them sorry. x

The difference may be a college to you guys is what we call a junior college. A junior college here is where you go to get an associates degree (2 year degree) or you can get a certificate for a certain profession. A lot of people also start at a junior college to get basics like math, English, etc. A school where you get your bachelors can either be called a university or a college. It just depends on the school.

Same here. I have a DEC (Diplome Education College) in Visual Arts/Graphic Design.

University degrees in graphic design don't get you a job. Your portfolio does. In fact, the most recognized graphics courses are found in colleges and not universities. I would have given my right arm (and left too) to attend Sheridan College (came that close!) in ON, or Parson's School of Design, in NYC.

BTW - What college did you go to? My daughter is considering Durham but I don't know much about their reputation.

I'm the biggest loser here! =) lol... I went to a community college the fall quarter and went almost to the end of the quarter and then just quit going. I waited about a year and went back the fall quarter and went about 2 months and then quit again.

I regret quitting both times and if I would have just stuck to it I would have been graduated by now.

I will be going back to school though to get my State License in Real Estate Appraisal... Luckily you don't have to have a college degree for that because you have to be state licensed.
