It's been a while since I've logged on Once Wed! We have been married a whole YEAR now!!

Anywho, someone e-mailed me the other day asking how to make our table numbers. She only needs six, so i was thinking about offering to make them for her.

The turn around time is quick (she needs them before wednesday)...and it would involve a at least five hours of work... what would you pay for them?

my husband wants to charge a 100 total because he remembers what a pain in the butt they were to make, but I just don't see myself paying that much...so how can i charge someone else that much?

Because i'm in the UK. I'm not totally sure of costings etc. But how much would it cost you to buy a hand made Birthday (For example) in the US? Say they are $5.00. Then that would be a roundabout price for a table number if they are anything like your picture. Hand made cards take into account the cost of time and materials.

I was looking at some on etsy that i love! For 20 numbers shes asking $50 but their alot less intricate than yours...

and im having a hard time thinking about paying that so im thinking that ill atempt to make them myself first....However if she wants hers on such short notice and with all of the work envolved (it looks like small nails in the shape you want and then string or yarn wrapped around to get the desired look?) maybe come down from the triple digits and tell her $75?

Wow, those do look really complex to make! I guess that I would charge around $5 a piece depending on how much the materials cost. If the materials are costly then maybe $7 or so? I just wouldn't be able to see myself spending much more than $50 on something like that.

By the way, they're really unique and pretty!

Here's my :twocents:

When I charge for a wedding booked 3 months in advance, I charge less for this simple reason, got more time to work on it, and more time to spend with family, verses a last minute booking, where I'm rushed, and having to get it perfect in a short time, and no time off.

It's not unheard of in any market, no matter if it's hotels, car rental, or even the wedding market to charge less for booking well in advance and more for not doing so.

So IMO if she wants them in a week $100 is not a bad deal..... if it was for 3 months down the road, then that would be a different story.
