I shared this idea over at the budget-conscious bride forum, but I thought it would be applicable here too because it's such a cute idea. Right after I got engaged I started collecting mason jars and doilies from all my family members, friends and even had them ask around if anyone had any that were collecting dust and they wanted to donate. Before I knew it, I had over 100 mason jars and 80 doilies (I still need more, but my wedding isn't for a few more months.) I am using the doilies to cover the mason jars (no more than 1 large one or 2 smaller ones so that they don't look too tacky or cluttered). It's a very simple process and when lit (with a tea light inside) they look super romantic and unique. I found the idea on this blog: http://curbly.com/capreek/posts/10187-roundup-15-awesome-and-easy-diy-mason-jar-projects

Here are a few more links to a other mason jar lamp ideas :)

Can't begin to tell you how cheap this worked out to be...only had to pay for the tea lights.

I'm hoping that the end result will be something like this but with doilies :)http://www.weddingwindow.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/chellepaperie.blogspot.com.jpg

I wanted to do something similar but didn't think about asking family members. I had been searching online for reasonably priced mason jars and besides that I've been finding them at thrift stores here and there. Sadly, I may have to resort to buying a whole bunch online because at this point I don't very many and definitely not enough to put a nice collection on each table. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm going to send out a mass e-mail to all my family asking for a "donation" :)

I don't know if you're on pinterest or not, but it's worth it to join (I can send you an invite if you're not) You can get endless ideas for your wedding on there.

I came across these a while ago, but forgot about some of the projects. These are really great. I'm actually doing both the mason jar lanterns with tea lights and the terrariums (in larger jars) for my wedding.
