OMG I just recieved a call and the reception hall that I booked over 3 months ago has told me that they are sending me my deposit back because the wrong member of the organization took the contract and my deposit. I was then told that I will have to call them back 10/01/06 and re-book and fill out a new contract and then pay the whole hall price instead of just the deposit then the day of the wedding pay the remander(SP). Do these people even know how extremly booked up they will be in June of 2007. how inconsiderate this :censored: can be. I mean the whole meaning behind this hall is that its one of the nicest and also has a pavillion and a dock for outdoor weddings and a rain date. So I don't have to be married in the hall. I guess I will just have to hope and pray that the :censored: will call me back this time instead of waiting for 2 weeks to return my call. And then send out the contract paper work. I really hope that I will not have to change my date everyone else is booked and are avail. for my already planned date. It will really suck if I will have to work around his :censored:. Well I feel a little better but not much will have to wait until Oct. and hope for the best. FH says don't worry everything will work out in the end I hope he's right :D.

I would go down there in person and talk with them about this. Whether booked with the wrong person or not they should honor this contract with them. I don't blame you for being upset. I would be as well.

I agree, I would go over there too. I think that is an awful way to do business! I would be livid! I'm a firm believer in everything working out, but this is just wrong!

A contract is a contract and they took your money...or atleast one of their representatives did....I would not take the chance!!! I would definitely go over there asap!!!

This is one of the most insane things I ever heard of, I agree with the others, go over there and talk to the person closest to the top of the organization. If you are ready to book, why would they want you to come back in October? That makes no sense.

Yeah something sounds odd about this, I don't see why they'd cancel your contract because the wrong representative wrote it up for you. I too would go down there and have a little talk with the management.
Good luck!!

I would defiantely go down there and talk with them. If you signed a contract and so did a representative from their company then they should have to honor it. It is their mistake if the wrong person signed the contract. They need to take action within their company. You did nothing wrong. It was them. If all else fails they should at least give you a major discount for THEIR srew-up. If they are not willing to work with you I would contact the Better Business Bureau.

Also, if they aren't willing to work with you, you could scare them by threatening to go to a TV station or threaten legal action or something like that.

Thanks all for your support. I have spoke to the represenative when he called me and told me about the so called misunderstanding. Apparently its not just my contract that he is withdrawing for next year it is several people's contract for next year. He has assured me that noone can book until Oct. 06 but still June books up fast. He also stated that the reason for the withdrawl of the contract was b/c of miscommunication btw. the representives that accept the contract. and that results in double bookings. there are 2 halls (but come on now I booked both halls so that would not happen) still he tells me his hands are tied. I also asked him if he could just hold my date for June of next year and pretty much I was told first come first serve. My ans. is that's not my fault get your :censored: straight and this will not happen. I am also looking into another reception site but its not as nice and none around me offer the pavillion for the outside wedding if there is rain I guess there's no more for me to do.

Hun, if you and a representative signed a contract I believe you are both legally bound to it. Unless there is some fine print somewhere they cannot just back out because they messed up.
I would defiantely pursue this further. Call them or visit them again and if they do not change their answers, then contact the Better Business Bureau. I would also write to local newspapers and call any consumer lines that any of the local tv stations around you may have. (Great suggestion by the way Karen!) I know a couple of local tv stations around here have consumer lines. I would also go as far as posting their bad business on wedding chat boards such as this. I would also tell them I was doing this. I just can't stand it when people screw with people like this!

Get ahold of a lawer. Normaly a nice letter from a lawer will get them on the right track again. To me it sounds like he might have gotten offered more money or something .

maybe it's a sign?
somethings happen for a reason, maybe you're meant to celebrate somewhere else :)
i'd fight it. submit a claim to the better business bureau. even if u dont plan on following through, they will contact the site and that might get things going. also, don't drop it so easily. there's been quite a few things that just persistent calling and hassling has gotten me. :)

I did continue to fight with the man guy on the subject and thank god his wife did keep my date open for me and in the middle of Sept. he did reinstate my contract. The only thing is that I had to pay for the hall in full instead of only a deposit but that's fine. I want to thank everyone for their advice. I did fight it and I won YEAH>

Just make sure you keep on them now, you don't want them to turn around in May and be like "who are you?"
Congrats on a succeful stress out babe!
