Ok so Logan and Mackenzie still sleep in our room in their rock n plays. I do not see a problem with it, they are sleeping great and are no where near the weight limit. My MIL and her mother keep giving me a hard time about it. They keep saying don't you think they should be in their cribs by now, and really I think they need to sleep in their cribs blah blah. They think it is bad for their bone and muscle development to sleep in their rock n play still. I am like they have plenty of time during the day to stretch out if that is what you are concerned about.

Now I know they can't sleep there forever, but I really like having them in our room, and Logan can roll from his back to belly, but not from belly to back and I am scared to death that if I put him in his crib he is going to roll on his belly and suffocate. Yes he can hold his head up but he gets tired and puts it down.

I know other babies here sleep in rock n plays, do your families even say anything? my mil annoys me anyways and says lots of stupid comments.

Amelia slept in hers for 5 1/2 months. We knew it was time to move her when she tried lifting herself out of it one day... It was a tougher transition since she wasn't used to sleeping flat in a crib, but not too terrible. We started trying to move her at 4 months, but I was not ready. We needed her in our room...We loved it.

I say that you're thier mother and you get to make those decisions :) Do what you feel most comfortable with :)

I do have to say though, Amelia kinda out grew hers. Her little feet were hanging out and when she woke inthe morning she would stretch for 5 minutes. LOL

As long as they are comfy and getting enough sleep, who cares?

What do you do for naps? We've been working on transitioning Finn to the crib by putting him in there for most naptimes.

I don't know why people obsess about baby sleep so much. People always ask, how is he doing in the crib? Is he sleeping through the night? Yadda yadda. The bottom line is, we are all getting enough sleep and he is thriving. Don't sweat the small stuff. Figure things out at your own pace.

Averi still sleeps in her rock and play. She used to take naps in her crib on her belly put now she sleep in the rock and play since that's what she will sleep in for daycare. I have never even entertained the idea of having her sleep somewhere else at night. My family hasn't said anything but my MIL keeps saying I need to stop swaddling Averi at night.

If they're sleeping okay, leave them be. Of course there will come a point when you need to transition them, but if you don't feel like the time is now then it doesn't matter what they say.

My girls still sleep in theirs. My mom says things sometimes and I just tell her it works for them and "if it aint broke, don't fix it". I'd like to do cribs for naps but its hard when we know they'll sleep good in their sleepers and we hate to rock the boat most of the time. When she watches them I know she tries to put them in cribs for naps and it never seems to work so I think she is starting to see where we are coming from.

well at least I am not the only one who's parents/in laws question where their baby is sleeping. Right now rock n play works the best and I know i know sooner than later they will outgrow it. They sleep so good in it. I can put them in it after their last feeding at night and walk away and they will go to sleep on their own. my mil is just so concerned that it is bad for their development to not sleep flat. they are both small for their age so I think they can stay in their rock n play for at least another month or two. They are almost 4.5 months old and only 13 lbs, 24in long.

Now for naps, we don't really do anything, they kind of sleep where they fall asleep at, sometimes it is in their swing or bouncy seat, sometimes it is on their play mat, sometimes it is on the couch, they have even taken naps in our bed before (well just Mackenzie and she can't roll, well has no interest in even trying). They take lots of small naps and if they are really tired they will sleep for 2 or 3 hours at one stretch.

Actually Sarah you can tell your MIL that them not sleeping flat is actually better for their development. So many children are now suffering from plagiocephaly (flat head) because they sleep flat on their back and that puts the full force on their heads. By having them sleep in the rock n'plays it takes some of that force off their heads. I am getting all the information from the physical therphist that has been seeing Averi for her torticollis and plagiocephaly.

Thanks, that's good to know! Not that she listens to anything I say. Mackenzies head is round, and big (99th percentile haha). Logans head is flater on the right side but their dr isn't too concerned, she says once he starts sitting up it should round out.
