The After Party

My mom has told me that she will be hosting a party on the Sunday after my wedding for the immediate families and bridal party to come have lunch and watch my new husband and i open the gifts we received.
Both me and my FH have never heard of this and it seems a bit strange to me to ask people to come and watch us open gifts.
Is anyone eles planning on doing this? I need some more information on it, because i think it is a bit odd right now.

My mom's family is into this. I'm like you, I also think its weird but I guess its a way for them to see you opening the gifts that they have given to you! Unfortunately for me though, my parents think that everyone that is invited to the wedding is invited to the Gift opening. Its not unheard of and it depends on how each family choses to do things.

Yes I have heard of it before. Some just want to make sure you didn't get duplicates I think. :lol: But for those out of towners who may never see you again it's nice to know that their gift is really appreciated. besides, they get to say ooooh and ahhhhs. :wink:
