Maternity Clothes...

So i'm about ready to break down and buy some maternity clothes...

since we only have ONE maternity store around here (a tiny motherhood in the mall) my try-on options are limited...

I've found a few things online at destination maternity but i'm scared to order b/c of size....

I'm using the sizing chart and it says to order XS or S's but i don't want to get them then have to pay to return them... ending up paying for clothes i don't keep

Anywhoo anyone have any insight into the sizing charts or advice in general? should i just trust that they say b/c i was a small pre-preg that i'm gonna be a small as i'm growing bigger??

All of the sizing charts, except for Old Navy, worked for me. I was smaller than the Old Navy chart said that I should be, but I find that their clothing is generally sized a little bigger anyway.

I got almost all of my maternity clothes from Target and their sizing chart was perfect for me.

I found a lot of cute things in ROSS but they dont have a store online

and also target is wonderful everything fit me really well and i love all their things!

i forgot about target! i may hold off on the jeans i was gonna buy since they're 40 bucks and just see if target has anything...

i'll prolly get the sweaters i like tho b/c worse case scenario they're small and i just wear them now til they don't fit... or they're a lil too big and i wear them later in winter when i'm really showing

I did most of my maternity shopping at Ross also, but got a few things from Old Navy and Target.

For the most part, I bought everything in the size I normally wear. They're just expanded in the belly for some growth!

Old Navy has good sales and specials on their maternity stuff all the time! You can order online, too!

The biggest mistake I made was buying a couple of medium tops instead of getting smalls. I thought that I would need mediums because I was getting bigger, but I probably should have realised that that might be something that they take into account when making maternity clothes, lol. I was stuck with these 2 huge shirts that made me feel awful about myself because they were shapeless sacks on me. So I definitely advise sticking to the charts!

Ha! i'm sorry that happened but thanks for the warning! i ended up ordering the clothes b/c well all the sweaters were on clearance and cute sooo i took a risk... plus i found a coupon code and got $30 off the whole order

I LOVED Kohls' maternity tops - plus they have awesome sales. I never paid more than $3 for a top there. They're "Motherhood, Oh Baby!" line. Do you have Kohls out there?

we do but they don't carry ANY maternity clothes!

even our old navy had 3 types of pants and 3 different shirts when i went there to look... and a rack of clearance summer clothes which obviously won't be very helpful

I got most of my maternity clothes from Target too. My mom bought me a few things from Macy's but honestly the Target stuff fit better - and
I thought it was cuter. Actually a lot of what I wore wasn't really maternity - I got a few jersey knit stretch skirts and tops and those lasted through most of my pregnancy. In fact, I was wearing a target jersey maxi dress when I went in to labor. :)

I hated most maternity clothes and really tried to make things work with stretchy shirts, dresses, and other stuff. It sucked being pregnant in the heat, but it was nice to be able to wear skirts and dresses every day if I felt like it, because they always fit!

If you're going to order online, I would advise you NOT to order from Old Navy, or at least check the comments on the item first. I ordered a bunch of stuff, and their sizing is so large and inconsistent, I ended up sending a lot of it back. I like their maternity clothes, but I had much better luck just going to the store.
