I am so excited to start another pregnancy journal. What an amazing blessing we have been given. I was three days late for AF this morning, so I decided it was time to take a home pregnancy test.
http://i570.photobucket.com/albums/ss144/megnel02/bfp002.jpg
As my calculations go, I am 4 weeks pregnant tomorrow. So exciting.
As far as symptoms go:
extremely sleepy
mild AF like cramps
(.)(.) are slighty tender
hunger
peeing often
DH and I have decided to wait to tell our families until after our first OB appointment, which isnt until Jan. 4 2011. So please dont mention anything on facebook.
Well Katie is getting tired and fussy so I am off to get her ready for bed.

I sure hope so, it just seems strange that when i was pregnant with Katie i only tested cause my boobs were so sore and tender, this time not sore unless I press down on the sides of them. The only thing I am feeling is super tired and a bit bloated.

just remember each pregnancy can be TOTALLY different.... w/this one i didn't start feeling anything until week 5ish... the one before i was crampy and my boobs were so sore! so more or less symptoms in my experience don't mean sticky baby versus not....

I agree with Nicole, every pregnancy is different. My first one I had sore boobs, fatigue, food aversion and m/s early on. With the twins my boobs didn't hurt and I didnt get morning sickness til like 8 weeks. I know its nerve wracking not having symptoms but not having any yet doesn't mean there is anything wrong!

well the ultrasound went great. Baby is still too small to see, but we did see a tiny yolk sac. So baby is in the uterus and is growing, the ultrasound tech pushed me forward to 6 weeks today. So instead of 5 weeks and 4 days I am measuring at 6 weeks. I am so glad that the baby is growing at the right speed, I just hope little bean keeps growing strong.

well there isnt too much for me to update on yet, as i havent had my OB appointment yet. I did however find out that I have a cyst on my Left ovary and that my cervix was red and irritated. So i called my OB and he is going to see me earlier, my first OB appointment will be on Dec. 21 now instead of Jan. 4.
Also, I just wanted to throw this out there, that since I became pregnant I really feel like this baby is going to be a boy, but I guess only time will tell.

So the appointment ran long cause they did all my paperwork, a pelvic exam, and.............. a ultrasound. I am 8 weeks and 3 days pregnant. Although the ultrasound measured me at 7 weeks and 4 days, but the doctor said thats fine. We got to hear the babys heartbeat on the ultrasound to....it was 156 beats per minute. My next appointment is on Jan. 18th. I had all my blood work done today as well.

Qtpie
02-03-2011, 12:00 AM
I have been thinking she is going to have a sister. I dont know why, but maybe its mothers intuition?
Thank you Keely, we got it second hand from a baby consignment shop for $60 bucks, it came with three sheets for the little mattress, and a baby blanket and the bumper set. I think it was a pretty good deal.
Baby consignment shops are the best...things are still in such great shape and often hardly used. That does sound like a great deal!
I really believe in a mother's intuition. Have you accidentally said "her" about the baby? I kept doing that with Paisley before we knew what the sex was. I wasn't at all surprised that she was a "she". Now when we talk about having another one I automatically say "the girls" when I talk about our kids.
Qtpie
02-03-2011, 12:06 AM
No I havent said "her or she" in that way, but James' dad was saying something about our little boy, and i said to him "excuse me, but I do believe you just called my little girl a boy"! LoL, I will be shocked if its a boy, but will be just as happy with a boy or a girl.
A girl will be fun cause Katie and her would be so close in age that they will have a strong bond. But if its a boy it will be fun cause it will be a new experience and we will get to buy lots of new stuff. Although a girl would be more cost effective to us, especially since my sister just had a baby girl three months ago. LoL.
I can echo all of the thoughts that you've had about having a girl vs having a boy. That's exactly how I feel about the sex of our (possible) next one.

thanks everyone. I am a bit anxious about the ultrasound yesterday as I couldnt really tell what the doc was looking at but James knew right away. I just looked like a blur to me. The doc tried to play it off that it is too soon to tell, but we definately saw three white lines. The doc tried to say that its still a 50/50 chance and that we may have been seeing the umbilical cord.......yada yada yada.......you know how they are about liabilites. Anyways once we got home I did a little research and our ultrasound shot definately looked all girl to me.
Anyways, we have our officail 20 week scan on March 7th so we should have a definate answer then, as long as baby cooperates.

Well I had a bit of a scare last night, so ended up going to the ER to rest my mind. I had some cramping and spotting, which thank god, ended up being nothing. Anyways the ER doc did a ultrasound. Babys heartbeat was 133bpm. Baby waved at me. And we got a nice clear crotch shot..........................
It looks like Katie is going to be having A LITTLE:
SISTER!
We are not announcing it publicly though until after my appointment on March 7th. We want to make sure we arent missing anything since these last scans have been very quick. But I am super excited it looks like a little girl. They are going to be best of friends and can play together and will be super close in age. Yay!!!!! Just like my sister and I were. Anyways, I am going to go play with Katie for a little bit.

So yesterday was my 20 week ultrasound. I was a bit dissappointed in the scan however, as when i was pregnant with Katie it was about 15 minute long scan. Yesterday the doctor was really late and so the scan was like 5 minutes. I feel like we were jipped. James pointed out to me that he is a bit worried about the babys lip (he thinks it looks like a cleft lip, and i kinda agree). I kinda wanna call the doctors office and ask them to be rescanned.
On to a bit more exciting news however, baby is definately a little girl. Yay, I am so excited.
Her name is going to be Brittany Ana.
I will post pictures later, once i get them loaded onto my computer.

What a beautiful name ;)
I would definately ask for a rescan! When they did mine i was there forever, the tech did her thing and didnt let me see the scan then they called in my whole family to watch for like 15 minutes and asked what parts of the baby we wanted to see and stuff like that... Or maybe consider doing one of the 3D things!! You get so much more out of those than just a regular old ultrasound... And you should mention the babys lip so they can check it out and see... Im sure you can get all the paperwork from your scan and you can take it to the doc appt with you and they will go over everything with you

Brittany is new to the family, but, Ana is James' grandmothers name. And it is also his sisters name.
I like bringing new names to the family and carrying on old names. Katie's name (Kathryn) was carried through the family, but I brought Joy into the family. And your Katie's names were "inherited" too right? :)

Well it has been awhile since I updated last. I am now into my 6th month of pregnancy. YAY!
We are visiting the in laws right now cause my car blew the motor about a month ago, so DH bought me a new one and is currently out in the yard working on installing the new motor.
For those of you who dont have FB, here is what the car looked like yesterday.

I hope this link will work.
Anyways, we were laying on the air mattress last night and Brittany was kicking me all kinds, so I put James' hand on my belly and he got to feel her for the first time.:hearts:;)
As for doctor visits I have my next appointment in a few weeks, and will be going for my glucose test sometime between then and the next appointment. DH says he is making me take it this time or else he is going to be very :realmad: at me. So I guess i wont be escaping it this time.

So I had my 28 week appointment today. I saw the midwife and she said everything is looking good. I am measuring 2 weeks ahead at 30cm. We listened to Brittany's heartbeat, it was 144bpm. Yay! I am now starting on my every two week appointments. So exciting.
And on another exciting note, we had another Ultrasound, a333333333333 follow up to my 20 week ultrasound. Brittany looks great. And she does NOT have a cleft lip, thank god. We got another look between the legs, and she is definately still a girl. The doctor also said she is a little on the big side, weighing in at 3 pounds 3 ounces. He is estimating that Brittany will weight around 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 pounds.

So not looking forward to this. I am so nervous and scared.

well its been awhile since I updated my journal. I went to take my 3 hour glucose tolerance test, and 45 minutes into it i threw it all up. So the doctor wanted me to go back and take it a second time, but I refused so they are now treating me as a diabetic. I have my first appointment tomorrow with the diabetic doctor, so should find more information out.
We moved apartments this weekend, so am busy unpacking right now. And Katie is getting fussy so I better get going, but will check in later today sometime to finish my update.

The nurse said that is really good, but I dont really understand what any of it means. Anyone here have any idea? They did tell me that a normal range would be 5.7 so they were very happy mine is a 4.7

How did your appointment go with the diabetic doctor?
I'm fuzzy on the specifics, but if I remember correctly, a non-diabetic has a result of 5 and lower...so I would think that you're A-OK! And what kind of diabetic doctor are they sending you to? An endocrinologist is generally known as the "diabetic doc", but I would think it would be really odd for an OB to refer a woman with gestational diabetes to an endocrinologist. Or did they send you to an RD? Sorry, I'm just curious! I'm actually going to be refusing both the 1 hour and 3 hour test this time. Nope, can't make me do that again!! I didn't throw up, but I really and truly felt like I was going to die. I tear up just thinking about what an awful experience it was. That sky high blood sugar and then sugar crash did a number on my physically and mentally.

well just a real quick update. I went to the diabetic clinic met with the doc, and went over all my results and went over my sugar levels for after eatting. The doc was not happy with my numbers as they are above 120 an hour after eatting. They started me on insulin which really has me down. Oh well, if its best for the baby then so be it.
Qtpie

So I should give you a quick update while Katie and DH are taking a nap.
I am going to be 36 weeks pregnant on Saturday. Wow, I can hardly believe I am almost full term. When I was pregnant with Katie I was having all kinds of issues with pre term labor at this point, which knock on wood, I have not had a problem with this time around. I am getting anxious to have the baby now though.
I have to go to the doctor twice a week for monitoring and a quick ultrasound to check fluid levels since I have been put on Insulin. So far everything has been great, and I hope it stays this way.
I had my baby shower a few weeks back, and boy was it fun. Didnt get any pics from anyone though so cant post pics. I did get a really nice Graco double stroller, which James put together last night and we took for a test run. Katie loved it. We also got a new bouncy seat for Brittany and I decided to put that together last night. I also put the baby swing together and put it in the living room. Let the NESTING begin. LoL.
I am starting my weekly appointments with my OB-GYN starting on tuesday so thats exciting. Oh and according to my pregnancy ticker I am now in my NINTH month of pregnancy. Yay, so excited.
Also, I cant remember if I posted this yet, but we moved three weeks ago. Our neighbor downstairs from us was a smoker, a very heavy smoker. And not only did she smoke cigarettes but she also smoked weed, so everything we would open our window we would get her second hand smoke in our apartment. YUCK! So I kept complaining to management that I would NOT be bringing a newborn baby home to this kind of stuff, and they let us move to a downstairs three bedroom apartment. It is soooooo nice down here, and super quiet. We LOVE LOVE LOVE our new apartment.
Anyways, I think that is about it for now.
Hey all I just wanted to post an update that I didn't get to post last night:
Megan went to the hospital yesterday early afternoon with contractions 8 minutes apart. The doctors put her on the monitor and gave her the shot to stop the contractions, but after awhile they started up again. They kept her overnight to monitor her, and because she's only 36 weeks along, they're hoping to keep Brittany from making her appearance for at least another 10 days or so.
I'll update if I hear from her again!

Hey everyone, I am home from the hospital and the contractions seem to have stopped. Hopefully they stay stopped for atleast a week or two. I would really like to make it to 38 weeks again like I did with Katie.
Jan, they did not give me any steroids for babys lungs as I am going to be 37 weeks on Saturday so they said I am close enough to term, but they want Brittany to stay put for a bit longer.
One of the nurses said that they are a bit concerned about babys lung development because i have gestational diabetes. Not sure about this as I thought it was the opposite.

I kinda feel like she has moved back up a little but not sure. I will be 37 weeks, full term, tomorrow. So exciting. I am getting more and more excited to meet little Brittany.
I am however getting very anxious about leaving Katie overnight for a few nights while I am in the hospital. She will be either with my mother in law, my mom, or my sister in law. It will be my first time away from Katie for an overnight period.
Anyways, if things stay calm I have an doc appointment with my OB-GYN on tuesday and will see whats going on then, otherwise we are on hold with any plans as we could be having a new baby any minute now. So exciting.

time for another update. Went to the doctor today for my weekly check up. He did a ultrasound, baby is head down, and ready to go. He showed me that the placenta is just as big as the baby, which he said is not normally how it is, he said that the placenta is only half the size of the baby usually. Which he said is cause baby is small. He is estimating about a 6 1/2 to 7 pound baby. Which made me happy as I was worried about baby getting to big cause of the diabetes. He then did the famous cervix check. I am measuring 4.5 cm and he said he can stretch me to 5cm and that labor can start at any minute.
He also said that I most likely will have a very very fast labor, he thinks about 2 hours and he told me that as soon as contractions start, dont even think about it just go straight to the hospital. He also said he doubts that I will have time for an epidural by the time I get to the hospital. (The hospital is an hour away from my house.) And he says he thinks I will be about 7 to 8 cm by the time I get to the hospital.
So now we begin the waiting game, I wonder when this baby is going to decide to come.

Update time:
Brittany has been in the room with me since about noon today. She is doing so much better, thank you so much for all the prayers and thoughts. She is doing great with nursing once she figures out to latch on, but she gets a bit confused at first but once she is on she does great.
The nurse just came and took her to give her a first bath, and to do the hearing test. Fingers crossed she does ok.
And I miss my Katiebug.

We got to come home from the hospital yesterday, and Brittany is doing great. She is doing awesome with nursing, and my milk has already come in. We have our first pediatrician appointment tomorrow morning so I will be interested to see how much she weighs come tomorrow.
Well I gotta run, Katie needs some love while baby is asleep. I will try and get some pics posted soon.
Sorry I havent got pics up yet.
