After waiting a year and a half after the wedding, we decided no better time then now to start trying. We didnt make a big deal of trying, because we didnt actively do the temps or prenatals etc because we were not "active" trying we just were not active in NOT preventing- we planned on doing the active trying during the winter time. Kind of makes me feel bad because i feel that i should have been taking the prenatals etc from moment 1- but to be honest, we NEVER thought it would be so quick.

so heres how it went- we were on vacation in October, and after returning, i was sooo tired, sleeping at like 9pm, which is NOTHING like me. I just couldnt seem to keep my eyes open. So i didnt mention anything to Hubby bc i didnt want to get his hopes up or anything since i thought maybe it was just from lack of sleep and the long trip.
It was a friday after work, i took the test i had here in my house, and it was POSITIVO in very little time - i walked out, called hubby inside and showed him the test. I wanted to do it cuter, better but i just couldnt, i was bursting.

That night,, while watching the yankees game at my parents, hubby insisted he MUST tell them, apparently he was burtsing too.
so we told them that day, and the next day, his family ~

i will update more, but wanted to get started on my pregnancy journal

i will update that our due date is june 19th 2011. this is soooo exciting, because it is fathers day, and although im sure it will chnage, i love the idea of the date being thhat its on my very first sonogram.

so after telling his family and my family, we were playing the waiting game, waiting to find a dr, waiting to hear about the insurance, wait wait wait...
and then of course, i went to see my dr and he was like how far are you? i say 6 weeks and he says "well, we want to wait until your 8 weeks to really do anything but confirm the pregnancy, but we can do some paperwork" so 4 hours later, im done with all the paperwork, and evern more convinced i hate my dr.
so now, im really trying to find another, but we shall see! However, a week after that i was in a little accident and needed to go to the hospital, so i was able to see the babies heartbeat, and that made me happy and helped me hold off for a little bit so i could find the right dr.

i do have a little bit of a vent because i didnt have health insurance (completely my fault, oversight and stupidity!) so i applied for medicaid, but despite my efforts, i make too much money and im not entitled to it- it really irks because i have never gotten any assistance, and although i make too much by their standards, their standards are pretty low. I cant lie, i make decent money, i just wish there was a way that they didnt try to charge you a ridiculous amount without insurance or medicaid. For instance, for drs around here, the rate for each visit starts at 300 but if you want a sonogram, it starts at 500 and if you want blood work it goes up to 750 for the visit.. plus your talking 3200 for the dr just to show up at the delivery, not incluiding an epidural or any emergencies----
It seems off kilter because i know people that delivered in other states, their drs charged one fee for the entire 9 months, including delivery and it was like 5500.00 - so basically thats what im looking for. a dr that isnt trying to financially bankrupt anyone. :) but thats just my little vent there.. i was even willing to find expensive health insurance (even at like 400 a month, i would take it while i was pregnant) but nobody covers pregnant women... blech!!! if anyone has dealt with this or has any information that could help me.. i would appreciate it

Now, i did find a dr that does only first trimester care, its 600 for the entire trimester, but i called and since im at the third month technically (i guess they consider 9-13 weeks 3rd month???) they said they would do it for 275.00 what that does is just give bloodwork, the basic blood tests and sonograms as needed and dr visits as needed. i wish there were drs that did it for more then the first trimester, but this dr doesnt treat labor and delivery or anything past the 13th week.. so :(

ah im done now haha

so im very excited and have some hope- after posting my last post, i wanted to rip my hair out. I was so down and out.. and then i just said "let me start over" you see- i want to deliver in a different area then where i was looking for a dr. Since the areas are not far from each other, any dr will deliver at one of the 3 or 4 hospitals right in that area. but my mistake- i was looking near work, which is by the beach, and generally speaking, things are more expensive then 7 miles west of there, where we live - so i started the west cities and starting calling every doctor., Most wouldnt give much info. they just told me what the first visit would cost without insurance, but they didnt help me understand any of the other fees. finally i found three that i read great reviews about. Not only did they have very good reviews on local sites, but they also had what was considered "affordable payment plans" - so i called one of them, It was just after 5pm so i figured they wouldnt be open, but they helped me! they told me that they could probably get me in the next day after calling to make an appointment!!! im very excited about this. They broke down the fees, keep in mind, every doctor wanted 500-700 at least for the first visit, but this doctor wanted 258 - this included blood work, heartbeat check, all paperwork etc etc.. the second appointment is 1000.00 and this is toward the total cost, and then after that, the remaining balance is 1800- this is GREAT news.. 2800 total for conventional delivery, 3000 total for c-section delivery if needed.
so i called one other place and believe it or not, same price, but they mentioned "competitive pricing" i almost laughed out loud on the phone. My husband was a little nervous stating this seemed cheap so we did some research. We find out the two doctors are HUGE competitors, they both work AT THE HOSPITAL we are delivering at, and they each have their own practices in the SAME BUILDING. sooo it made sense.. looks like we will meet with both, research, and we will have an AFFORDABLE doctor. Im hoping to get this settled by the end of the week. Im calling one more doctor tomorrow. but i am hopeful!!

wow that's awesome... most OBs it seems do "global billing"... meaning they have a set price for a "normal" pregnancy, then they bill insurance and ur responsible for the rest...

my doc charges $3500 for normal OB care if that helps at all... and a whopping 5K for a c-section... granted that doesn't include hospital bills which prolly adds another like easy 10K

Hospitals charge separately for your stay so you might want to look into what that is going to cost you as well so you can be prepared. That is great you found drs with prices you can deal with though. I had a high risk pregnancy (I was hospitalized 2 months and babies hospitalized 1 month) and I'd be screwed without insurance. It's insane how much health care costs w/o insurance.

Well i have a doctor! and an appointment. I was so excited, they told me they could get me in today but it just was short notice, so tomorrow at 1:15!
Im excited and nervous!!!!
Yes, we discussed the fact that it doesnt include the hospital stay, and although expensive, we can pay that in payment plans afterward (without insurance, im on perm. payment plans with hospitals i visit haha!)
And although the high costs scare me, my main concern was finding a dr i liked and getting a plan started. I just knew there had to be something ebtter out there then 500-700 a visit!!!
I called two more doctors on my way to work this morning. Im sure glad i didnt call them before the other two good doctors, one was 3200 but included NO sonograms or blood work, the other was 500 a visit until your 8th month, and then it was 350 a visit - it included ALL blood work and one sonogram - its all spinning round and round :)
The one that was 3200 was my second choice doctor due to reviews, but when i called this morning, they were soooooooooo rude, i mean it was terrible, so that was an immediate turn off. I called the one i called yesterday back, and sure enough, they were still sweethearts and made me feel so comfortable, so we are going with them

I told them that i will pay for the first visit, to show good faith, and then on the THIRD visit i will pay the entire cost up front. I want to get it out of the way, but i want to make sure i like the doctor and so thats why i told them the third visit. they agreed and then the girl said "hold on one minute" and i got nervous, then she came back and said "good news, by paying up front like that, my manager said she wouldnt charge you if you needed one extra sonogram (which are usually 50 bucks extra) and if you need a c-sect (extra 200 in the cost, i know, cheap) - we will not charge you afterthe fact either.

Congratulations!! I am so excited for you. Being a mommy is the best. :hearts: I never could have imagined how absolutely wonderful (and taxing!) something could be.

Have you considered a certified nurse midwife (CNM)? They tend to be much more cost effective than OBs. The midwife group that I was with worked right alongside OBs, had full rights at the hospitals, I did all of the same testing, etc. They have the same training as an OB, except for surgical. Plus they give their patients a lot more emotional support. Regulations concerning midwives are different in different states so I know that a lot of states don't have the unique midwife/OB group like I found. I was charged for everything including a "normal unmedicated delivery" upfront, but then I had unplanned anesthesia and a c-section so unfortunately we still have a lot of bills to pay now. I started off with an OB that I was not happy with and then searched until I found the midwife group that I loved...so I know how frustrating it can be to look for a medical practice that you're comfortable with to take care of you and your unborn child when you're already pregnant and eager to get care.

I'm looking forward to following along with your journey! There's such a great network of pregnant ladies and moms on here.

I did look into the midwife option, but in being honest, they all really advocated "natural childbirth" here, and i felt guilty walking in and saying "no, im a huge baby, please medicate me!" - i still feel guilty!
i feel a huge sense of relief for tomorrow. I know Hubby was saying last night, its hard for this to feel real because although we have had the hospital thing with the sonogram, he was not there, he was in the waiting room. He is excited to see a heartbeat for himself tomorrow. although he is excited, i think he will be more verbal about it after tomorrow.
Im just praying its all okay at this point. . . . any extra prayers help :) im very nervous :crossfingers:

That's unfortunate because it can be a big money saver! I was so thankful for my midwives because most of the patients go natural, but they couldn't have cared less what our decision was as long as we were comfortable with it. I planned a natural delivery, but after 20ish hours and little progression, it was my midwife who told me that I needed to get an epi and give my body a rest.

I was nervous before each and every appointment!! I hope that you have a wonderful appointment. It's so exciting and such a wonderful bonding time for you and DH.

so a couple things; my doctor, is really a midwife. there is 5 doctors on staff and 5 midwives. Im okay with a midwife, nurse practitioner, because i have heard they have a gentler touch, but im a little confused why i wasn't made aware when calling the office exactly the procedure, ya know? i really really like everyone there, but i left quite upset! i love the PA that is my liason, she is AMAZING! and the midwife was awesome too! but im pretty upset - the thing is, i was at the hospital at 7 weeks 3 days- they did an ultrasound and blood work, got me a due date etc.. it was almost like a first visit to a dr. So when i called, they went through everything that would take place (see above pretty much) and when i got there today, i figured phew, ill get to hear the heartbeat again, so that will work, it will ease my fears! but the midwife kept saying "dont worry, the fact that everything was great 2 weeks ago at the hospital and the fact that you haven't had any problems, etc, prob. means this booger is sticking around for good" but i dont know, that just doesnt ease my mind. I feel like not knowing if it's heart is beating is going to drive me out of my mind!!!!!! im going to do a doppler at the next appt.. but i feel like waiting until then, is going to drive me up a wall!
anyone else feel that way? I find it a little off that they only do one ultrasound, but i dont know, after some research, seems that many places do it! if a gender test can not be done at the 20 week ultrasound, legs crossed, etc etc - we can get another. i do plan on doing 3d/4d so i have some cool pics.
i guess im just feeling a little sad after the fact

I'm sorry. I have a bit of a different situation because I was an infertility patient so I've had more ultrasound - and I asked for a NT scan... partially because I'm curious, partially for the extra ultrasound since Jam wasn't moving at all during our last one and I would feel better if I saw them move. So maybe ask for one of those?

I will tell you that I found our baby's heartbeat with an at home doppler at 10 weeks (well know I know it was actually 10w2d but whatever). Maybe you could look into getting one, mine was only $60.

KMS
11-19-2010, 04:30 PM
At my first appointment with my OB, we didn't get to hear the heartbeat. We finally heard it around 15ish weeks when we switched to the midwife practice. Initially, we were only supposed to have one ultrasound, but then I had a lot of complications so we had more. I'm not sure how common one ultrasound is for a normal healthy pregnancy though.

I'm sorry that you didn't have a great appointment.

what one do you have?!?!? i read they only work late in the second month so i wasnt going to bother.
im totally new to this, what was the scan you got done? I would like to know as much as possible. but since we were not technically ttc, i didnt brush up on any of the knowledge i should have.

i have looked on different reviews.
let me know anyone if you have used any of them..

hi bebe doppler

angel sounds

then there are two that are rentals, i dont think i will do a rental... something about that, just want my own

and now im obsessed so i have found this little piece of info Fetal dopplers that employ a 2 mghz probe tend to pick up the fetal heart rate earlier than 3 mghz fetal dopplers as they have a more defined beam which penetrates deeper (3-5cm compared to 1-2cm)

mj512
11-19-2010, 04:47 PM
This is the doppler I have:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003P6BY6K/ref=s9_simh_gw_p121_d7_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=13MC3J8JSMFKG21ZAREN&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938811&pf_rd_i=507846

EarlyBird

Here is some info - http://www.babycenter.com/0_nuchal-translucency-screening_118.bc?page=1

Basically they are looking for excess fluid at the back of the neck - which can indicate various issues such as Downs, and a few other things. I'm not high risk, but would rather know if there is a chance our baby has it so I can be prepared.

Just be prepared, there are a bunch of non-serious reasons if you can't hear it... i.e. if your uterus is tilted or if your placenta is anterior, or sometimes if there's too much um padding between doppler and baby LOL

so don't stress if you can't find it right away!

okay, so i hope i didnt worry anyone by completely disappearing....
* I DID receive the Doppler, it was broke, no lie. - i was mad! sent i back, and said "maybe it wasnt meant to be" everyone seemed intent on me NOT getting one (everyone except my brother and mom) so i just let it go and went to the doctors a couple weeks later.

* I had an appointment for dec 20, but around the beginning of dec, started feeling very nervous about the whole thing - i felt like i wasnt informed enough and wasnt growing or having any sickness, i just downright didnt feel pregnant. so i called the dr, and she rushed me in the next day in the evening, to hear the heartbeat etc. everything was good to go, said "strong heartbeat" and i was a happy girl. Im still not happy about the anatomy scan not being until feb, but at the early december appt, we really discussed everything and i feel much more informed.

*My next appt is tonight, and i will be having blood work, and a doppler test done. - im also going to be asking about possibly doing the anatomy scan in the next couple weeks instead of waiting until feb. we are doing the cake cutting (blue or pink) where we dont find out either, and then everyone find out with us. I am ordering the invitations after tonight, when i can find out the date to do the scan - and have to call our local bakeries to make sure they will do it, without screwing it up!!!!

* the day after xmas, my mom and i went shopping, i got sooo many baby clothes for "babies first christmas" - for a holiday its not gender specific, and i got one really nice girls outfit, one really nice boys outfit and im covered for both, because my close friend is having a boy, my sister in law is having a girl, so basically whichever is fine by us.

*I know i have said i was hoping for team pink, but for some reason, i find myself saying "him" and i feel that it could be a sign of team blue :) And believe it or not, i find myself looking at the baby boys outfits!! toooo cute

*On another note, im getting rather big.. in maternity clothes now, as far as bottoms and my tummy is definatly pregnant, not fat :) my dad still insists i get the "im pregnant, not fat" shirt :) was going to jokingly get him "im fat, not pregnant" and we could wear them together!!!!! haha

ahh, well i hope all my fellow preggers are doing well. work has been kind of crazy, but as im in my second trimester, my dad and i have spoken, and it looks like i will win the battle and only have to take off work a very small time- our compromise was that i could work from home for a little - i just can not see myself doing the stay home every day thing. With it being a family business, i need to be involved :)

Im so happy for you!!!

I felt the same way in the beginning of my pregnancy...I was convinced that I wasnt preggo but I was!!

I also had that, what I thought at the time, sicking feeling I was having a boy! I thought little boys were adorable but messy and stinky at the same time! Well I did end up having a boy and I feel like a COMPLETE turd for thinking those things about little boys! I wouldnt trade Luke in for a little girl for anything!!! Well back to my point...lol...if you have a strong feeling one way or the other most of the time it is right on :)

He must not have loved my dinner or something ;) so hubby started talking softly to my tummy and saying "hi baby, its daddy, please stop, mommy is in alot of pain when you do that!" and he was just rubbing me and talking to him, and he calmed down, and i assume went back to sleep :) it made hubby SOOO happy hahah
we have been reading that he can start to recognize voices and such,so we have been talking alot to him!
saturday, we registered at babies are us, and sunday, my mother and i went and finished up the loose ends there, and started the registry at target too.
for those of you that have been through the first 6 months-1 year with a newborn, what was your most USELESS item you had? and your most USEFUL! its funny, i have been asking alot of my friends that are moms, and the answers are so helpful, so ill ask you girls.

Most useful for us- burp rags, baby swing, pacifier, exersaucer (but thats for later) BIG recieving blankets (i had a baby houdini and the larger ones lasted longer and kept her in there better), FAMILY lol

Useless for us- monitor (we slept right next to her room and she was a LOUD cryer lol although we would have used the video one if we had spent the extra money), baby wash rags (they were so tiny but we used the burp rags that looked like washrags and they were just as soft, they were bigger so i would put one on her to keep her warm while i washed with another),

My friend had a boy and i bought her some "pee pee tee pees" they are adorable lol you put them over his well pee pee lol while you change his diaper so you dont get tinkled on!

I just had to comment on the pee pee tee pee thing! My MIL got us one and while it's a nice gag gift, it's completely useless! Sorry, briTANNY!! ;) My son never lays still so we tried it once but he kept wriggling and it would fall off!

We also didn't use our monitor because his room is right across the hall from us and I'm a light sleeper. But it is nice to have if he's sleeping and we both happen to be in the basement (rare instances, though). Also useless item is the plug-in bottle warmer for the car (another MIL gift...). The farthest we've traveled is an hour and a half, so we'd feed him before we left and not worry about it. We also never used the baby mirror for the car (faces the baby so you can see what they're doing while they are rear-facing). We just never put it up, and then I read something about how they're not recommended in case you get into a car accident, because they could fall off and harm the baby. We also have one of those high chairs (fisher price maybe) that goes onto a regular kitchen chair that is still in the box. We only have four chairs at our table to begin with, so I didn't want to lose one to that thing. Instead I picked up a Cosco high chair at a rummage sale for $8 and kept all 4 chairs free for guests!

I want to balance out my thoughts with USEFUL items, but don't have time at the moment!!

I DID register for the car bottle warmer. we do live 3 hours from disney, so we travel there often, and still plan to once he gets here; so i think for 20 bucks or so, ill leave that on the registry; just because for us, it might be useful! hah

I agree about the pee pee tee pee thing. We never used ours, either. If he pooped and we knew it might take a little longer to change his diaper I just laid a wipe over him. Speaking of wipes, I never used a wipes warmer either. He never seemed to mind them being cold, plus when we go out we don't have a way to warm them. We also have fisher price high chair that goes over a kitchen chair, but we have 6 seats and on the rare occassion we need all 6, we just take the high chair off. I don't have a huge kitchen so I didn't want to take up the extra room. To be honest, though, we used our Bumbo chair for a really long time and still do occassionally when feeding him solid food. When he got a bottle we just help him, but I'm still BFing so he doesn't got a bottle to often. If you are planning on BFing, I would get one of those covers (not sure what they are called). Other than stuff from the other threads, I can't think of anything.

BTW, have you guys talked about names? You might have mentioned it previously, but I can't remember.

Hi girls!
we have been throwing names around. nothing definate yet. Hubby is leaning toward Elijah (Eli) - im still thinking it all over :) its alllllllot to think about :)

sorry i havent spoken much around these parts. I have spent the last two weeks getting huge and being vvvery sick!
First i had a uti, now im on the tail end of an upper respitory infection. UGH the joys.

My mom has alot of the baby shower picked etc, which is exciting. Everytime she tells me something, i get supppper excited! She has about 70 people on the guest list, so i was advised to add more to my registry.

Hubby and i have also begun to plan the christening. I belive we will have it at the same place that we are having the baby shower. A place where we have alot of events. That guest list is up past 100 now, hubby is trying to reel me in on that one! :)
I was baptised at 3 months old, I was actually early, so i would have been a month old if it had been on track ! I would rather wait until he is 3 months old. Sounds funny but i want to be able to fit into something other then my maternity outfits :)

other then that, just the normal 5 month stuff. We have a dr appt next week, the anatomy scan early the next week, etc etc. Everything has looked good up until now. i have even had an early gluecose test, and that was negative, much to the surprise of the midwife!!

ohhhh you know what? I have been meaning to post this for you girls to see if anyone else really thought/felt the same way when they were pregnant.
I am mid 19 weeks right now, but i feel like everything ihave read/seen, we should be just are a week or two further. Now, my midwife NEVER came up with the due date or weeks- we took it from the 7th week when i was in the hospital. and to be honest, they didnt do all the measurements etc, they really came up with it by my last period, which i told them i wasnt posiutive about.
Now, the baby did look large on the last sonogram, and they said that they ddint want to move the due date until the anatomy scan, because they usually move it there anyway. Andd..... my question, has this happened to anyone? where you were a week or two off from what you originally thought?
I know it could just be coincidence, but things i read that i should be exper. for the first time "this week" i started 2 or 3 weeks ago...

scarymary48
01-27-2011, 04:06 AM
They bought my due date forward a week when I was 36 weeks along. This was more in line with my dates etc, but they didn't change it until then because he was measuring bang on target at every scan until the anatomy one. I guess he was on the smaller side early on! They still took 16 weeks to decide to change it though. I even pointed out to the Dr that if their date was correct, I wouldn't have even been pregnant yet when I got my BFP, but they still didn't change it.

70 people at your shower! Holy cow! That's awesome, you are going to get so much stuff! I hope you share pictures of it!

We were told the early U/S are the best indicator of due date. The further you get in pregnancy the more less accurate the measurements are to guess the due date.
I've also read that they don't usual change you due date 20 weeks or later unless baby measures more the 2 weeks ahead of what the original due date is.

This is what we were told as well. For out 20 week ultrasound she was measuring all sorts of days for various things. she measured a week or so ahead in some things and a few days behind in others. When they measure it is going to vary. My guess is if they measure the head x amount of times they may possibly get x different weeks/days. I know that at one point the head measured 20w6d and another time 21w4d or something like that and this was in the same ultrasound :)

they changed my due date 3 times and in the end the first one they gave me would have been the right one because when they delivered him instead of being 39 weeks he was actually only 38.

My due date was always the same and the girls measured right on track so my due date was never changed. But they always measured the babies with ultrasound since there were two. Plus I knew almost down to the day that I ovulated so we were sure on dates.

I love the name Eli! So cute! It is a big decision though! I couldn't settle on our girls' name even after they were picked! When DH ordered me my mother's rings with their names on it as a surprise, it was then that he then told me I couldn't change my mind.

I had to chuckle a little at you starting to plan their baptism. We didn't get our girls baptized right away and are waiting until cold and flu season is over. Anyway, I'm just now starting to think about planning it and here you are, already in the process! Talk about being prepared! :)

hehe yah, hubby is trying to get me to agree so the little guy has a name. and i know he wants to have it put on things so i cant change my mind :)
yah, i like planning early, plus, there is a 4 month waiting period at my church, so i want to get enrolled in the next couple months so we are not at THEIR mercy :)

SEE, thats what gets me, they never measured etc at my drs.
the hospital said that "while we didnt do all the measurments, based on your last period, we propose a june 19 due date, so about 7 weeks along"
sooooo those papers went to my drs and they never really looked much more into it. And if you remember my last post, they did a "secret" u/s :)
they didnt plan it, so they were just checking for heartbeat and then they got wrapped up if baby was a he or a she :)
I know it is a silly thing to even dwell upon, and ill find out soon enough, but just seems off, and they did say, they will change it after the anatomy scan if it is that much off (i think they did mention 2 weeks)

thanks for all the input guys :)

The docs based my due date off my last period and then they bumped it up a week after the first u/s they do at like 8 weeks or the first time you go!
But the doctors were always telling me your 20 weeks and i would say no im 22 look at the paper, they could never keep their weeks straight lol

Mu due date is June 20th :) and it's based on my last period. I had 4 ultrasounds so far and the doctor always measures everything. According to every measurement the baby is always 11 days smaller than the estimated week, and the measurements of different body parts are consistent and proportionate to 11 days earlier. I don't know if they'll change my due date after the anatomy scan or just keep it as it is now.

wow sonjia, 4 u/s. They were only going to do ONE total on me! (and i still havent had that one based on my timeline its supposed to be my next visit)
I am always amazed how different drs do different things.
the only reason i have had numerous u.s was my first u.s was in the hospital after an accident. and they did an ultrasound while i was in the hospital this week because of how sick i was, wanted to check his heartbeat. and the other ultrasound was random and not scheduled, just to check the heartbeat, because of my anterior placenta. so technically, i have not had ANY official sonograms (measured etc)
so my anterior placenta was causing some problems with the heartbeat coming good on the doppler- both at home and at the dr office dopplers. but the last two nights, i have checked his heartbeat to show others (my niece was over and my mom another night) - and i picked it up strong and quick both nights.. which a couple weeks ago i wasnt able to do.. i hadnt checked it at home since a couple weeks ago, didnt want to get worried or discouraged !
well i think i am going to post what we have picked for his nursery... :)

No offense to anyone, but i have seen friends use 'cute" patterns for their boys, and in no time at all, they are changing it to the latest and greatest theme. aka cars etc and its NOT cheap..so i dont want to be redoing it for a while .... The crib is so pretty. :yesnod: Storage underneath? - Awesome!! By the way, we decorated Paisley's nursery in a garden theme so that it could grow with her. In a few years she can make it into a fairy garden and then a few more years make it soft and floral...until she just doesn't like it any longer and needs a change! So I understand the sports theme idea. ;)

Love the theme! My cousin made all of out bedding, and the fabric I picked was just blue and brown patterns, so it should grow with my son until he gets sick of it! If we had bought something though, it definitely would have been something like you've picked out!

Cute belly pics i love prego bellies lol

and i think eli is an adorable name...
i used a real name/nickname for lexi too, all my family told me not to because some people would call her different names and she would get confused (doesnt seem to be the case) and in school they will call out Alexis (which only happens the first day of school maybe the second) i love it when people say alexis because thats the name i wanted for her :) Tanny really wanted Lexi so i agreed we would call her that... And the daycare calls her alexis

but i guess that is something to think about...

they had a hard time picking up the heart beat on the doppler, between my anterior placenta and his position, they wanted to do a sono! (to be honest, my midwife seems to do it for me because she knows im a cash patient and would have to pay out of pocket if she "ordered" one, and she never seemed worried about not "hearing" the heartbeat" and honestly, i have a doppler, and i know the heartbeat sound, and i heard it, and she barely searched for it! i appreciate it though!!)
anyway, they said "we just got the new machine, the 3d/4d machine!" i was so excited when she asked if i wanted to do that!!!!

Hi Ladies! Not much going on in the baby front.. just some new stuff but nothing earth moving.
Bro and DH promised by the end of Feb the baby room would be near its completion and not in shambles the way it is.
Looks like we may have to move my shower to may, which im NOT thrilled with.
We have our anatomy scan on Friday which I'm ubbber nervous about cuz i don't know what to expect, but excited to see him again.-If anyone can help me on what to expect, that would be great :)
Last night, i used the doppler and let my brother hear the heartbeat. he was pretty excited, as he has been patiently waiting to hear his nephew ;)
DS has gotten some CUTTTTE clothes already- those of you that are on my facebook see his little gifts from his aunts. At least once a week, someone brings me something adorable :) not to mention my mother and i went to carters the other night, and even though i try not to buy him stuff myself, cuz so many other people do.. i spent 15 bucks and bought him like 3 outfits PLUS his Halloween costume (he will be a monkey)- they were having a great sale!

we registered at babies r us and target.
At first, i wanted to register at target because in some areas where my family is up north, there are not many babies r us- and also i wanted to give enough variety of pricing etc, but i have found, alot of the stuff at target was not as cheap as babies r us. It seems babies r us is getting very competitive with their pricing so i have been REALLY contemplating moving everything to babies r us because my cousin pointed out, people who are nto coming to the shower (ie people up north) will just buy and send the gift online. Im at a little loss there with it, but eventually ill figure it out or just not stress ;)
I registered for big things at both places and small things at both places :)
I know for sure i am getting my stroller and car seat- the aunts already grabbed that up- the highchair/swing combo is also spoken for - and last night Hubbys aunt called and said she will be probably buying the crib- but she will let me know more this week ;) she wants me to know what she is getting/when its being sent, because she is sending it and it will be big, and i do NOT want that delivered while im not there haha!

Don't worry about the anatomy scan. Its just a nice long opportunity for you to watch your little one!! They will measure his head, legs, arms, look for all his fingers & toes, bladder, kidneys, measure the amniotic fluid, check his heart, look and listen to his heart rate, measure something on the brain I forget what). It's basically a head to toe look at your baby to make sure everything is growing and looking like it should. They measure a lot of stuff so they can see if he's measuring on schedule. Most sonographers are good about pointing out what is what but if yours doesn't ask her to! It's awesome to know what you are actually looking at! I went through this every two weeks from like week 18 on, so just lay back and relax and enjoy getting to see your baby. One thing to ask is if they will record it for you. Some clinics will...so maybe bring a DVD just in case or call ahead and find out. My OB office records u/s but my perinatologist didn't and my peri took over my care at 14 weeks so I only have one DVD of the girls at 12 weeks despite the fact I had almost 30 u/s during my pregnancy.

I love the names you picked, especially Eli & Nolan. Can't wait to see what you guys pick!

hey girls. I know i have been MIA. but lots is going on with work and life.
Baby boys room is almost done (after a sever issue with names, which i will vent about later, we are undecided again on names, and he should be here in just about 8 weeks or less) - the dr. told me that im measuring a week ahead of my due date etc and her exact words "with a smaller girl, and one that is measuring ahead like you, we say dont wait, have your bags packed and affairs in order by 36-37 weeks" so thats frightening, and just a couple weeks away.
Last weekend was my shower, i opened presents for over 3 hours, and there were 53 people :) i literally got everything i needed and more then i even wanted. baby boy has clothes for miles, wipe an diapers for years, etcetc. i was very very blessed. His room is together and crib is done and his bedding is even in there. i MUST post pics soon.
of course this is just a quick synopsis - hubby is also starting a branch of his own company and we are working on gettng that up and going before baby boy arrives.. always seems like there is so much to do.
he is a big boy at just over 3.5 lbs as of last week-, and he is taking up ALOT of room and he is very active!! i love feeling him move and feel like im defiantly going to miss this big time! Im dreading NOT being pregnant!

so both DH and i were preemie babies.. born during THIS week in our moms pregnancy, so i had a goal of having everything ready this week ;) just one of those comforting things. I didnt quite finish much but started getting stuff together for our hospital bags.. i wanted the baby to have his own clothes when family comes to visit at the hospital. So i brought two matching outfits complete with socks, hats and mittens.. and a couple plain onsies..I brought two of his own swadders and two of his own receiving bankets. I can not stand hospital issued things and am even bringing my own hospital gown.
I want to get some comfy sippers that are not too buky.. liky slipper socks and a new LIGHTweight robe -
I am sure they see high maintence ppl in there a the time. i dont want to seem high maintence. i just like my own stuff ya know?!?! I have to add essentials and dh wil add pajam,es for himself... but he will ony be 5 minutes from our house so, he can run home.

So it's been a rough week and a half here . We had a scare last week when my contractions started on Saturday and continued slowly through my emergency appt on tuesday . They wanted me to go directly tothe hospital but aPparently I had given them some hope that it was not real labor when I told them it was concerning to me about my low urine output but urge to urinate around 20times a night . Immediately they ran tests and confirmed I had a bladder infection and they put me on antibiotics and said that the infection was causing the contractions. They felt that if I was more comfy I could safely go home ( I'm 3 min from the hospital and 5 from the dr) and start antibiotics . They were right my contractions stopped being persistent and I feel a little better .however, I'm not 100% and don't think u will b until delivery. He is gettin so large andi it's gettin harder to breath and just all around discomfort !!! Two app ago they toldme that my due date changed -a week and half ahead of myintial due date means I'm due im just about 2.5 weeks. Yesterday was our anniversary - very exciting ! Cant believe it's been 2 years. I have more pics of belly and his almost finished room :)

You are getting so close! I don't know how I missed the pics of your belly and baby boys room, but you are looking great and that room is too cute! I love dark wood, and combined with that bedding, it is perfect. And we have the same diaper bag! I love my bag because it isn't too bulky and things are so easy to find in there, so I hope you find it just as easy to use.
Hope you feel better soon :flower:

Hi girls, i keep up with most of you on FB, so i dont know how much of an update is needed except maybe for things that i dont broadcast on FB. Obviously, elliot here is safe and sound. I have aged 10 years at least with all the worry im caused. I dont know why, but SIDS is such a fear, it feels paralyzing. If ANY of you felt that same way, even into your kids 6th month, tell me im not crazy, please!
He is 6 months old as of two days ago, and time is flying. I will post some pics for those of you that are not friends with me on fb, and those of you who are, sorry for pushing my kid down your throat. Okay im also going to try and update here more often. I have been stalking from my phone lately, and even with the biggest screen on the market, i hate updating an actual journal or posting with it.

If any of you know me from years past, you will probably laugh to learn that me, super planner, is not done christmas shopping, which is out of character, but i guess thats what happens with a baby!

here are some pics until my next update.

SIDS was and still scares me, so you aren't alone! We have an Angel Care monitor that is what has allowed me to sleep at night :)

So with the angel care, did you have those scares? cuz i think the scares would drive me up a wall.. i wouldnt recover... especially since we are dealing with all the stuff i am right now. its hard enough for me to relax and rest.

We also got an angel care monitor. And it has made it so I can sleep at night. The monitor will beep if there is no motion in 20 seconds and then if no movement in I think like 5 seconds it sounds an alarm. I wish I would have had the angelcare monitor with Katie as well. I will for sure be keeping this monitor for the next baby (if there is a next baby.

Well the monitor goes under the mattress.

Vana, have you maybe talked with your health care provider about post partum anxiety? It can hit anytime in the first year, not just right after delivery.

He's so cute!!! I get worried about my niece when she's sleeping all the time, I used to constantly go in her room and put my hand on her back just to make sure her chest was going up and down...I can understand that and I'm not even a mom!!

EarlyBird

WOW what in the heck is post partum anxiety? Is it more common if i was always anxious before he was born? I have an anxious personality. It doesnt hinder my life or anything, at least in the past, except my intense fear of flying does prevent me from the travel I would love to take.
Hmmm. carrie, i will have to talk to them about it soon...

Yay Vana's back! :confetti:

Katie is 14 mos old and I still worry about it. I always check to make sure she's breathing before I go to sleep, and whenever I wake up in the night. We co-sleep though so it makes it a little less nerve wracking for me.
