Ok, I did something stupid last night that I think will give everyone a laugh.
First, I have to explain. I'm not getting my dress altered here in the US. I'm going to wait and have it altered the month before the wedding while I'm in the UK. This allows me continue losing weight. :)
So, I picked up my dress last Friday and brought it home. It's been hanging in my closet since. Last night, Jonathan went to the Real Madrid soccer game so I knew he'd be gone for a few hours. I finished something I'd been working on and got a little bored...and I think you can guess what I decided to do.
Of course I decided to try on my dress...I hadn't had a chance to yet, and I wanted to see if it fit at all since I tried on a different size at the shop.
(Just in case you're all curious, it's this dress (http://davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=302&prodgroup=10). It looks WAY better in person. I didn't give it a second look on the website, but I fell in love with it in the shop.)
I unzipped it and slipped it on. Ohh, it felt so pretty. I was giddy. I realized that it was a little loose (which I expected since I have lost over 30 pounds) so I slipped it up a little, zipped it...and wiggled until it slid back down again. The bodice is very form fitting, and I'm pretty large chested so that took some work. At this point alarm bells should have been ringing. So, I got the dress on...and it's loose through the waist but fits almost perfectly through the bodice. Pleased, I decided I'd better take it off and get it put away before anything disastrous happened. I realized at this point that I can't reach the zipper. It's snug enough that I can't skootch it back up...I'm stuck. At this point I was wondering why oh why I'd picked a dress with straps. Eventually...I managed to wiggle a little bit. Unzip. Wiggle a little more. Unzip. About 10 minutes later (felt like an eternity) I finally got out of the dress with no damage and without having to wait for someone to come home and unzip me. It felt like a very close call last night. Now it just seems funny, so I thought I'd share.
