WOW! Everything is sooo elegant. I love the room and the tables and all. I can't wait to see pictures of YOUR wedding!!

Thanks me too!! It seemed very real when we were up there over the weekend. Mike even said the next time we will be here will be our wedding day. Our decorations will be better of course! LOL :)
It really got both us really excited being there - if that was even possible to be more excited than I already am! :)

Bosses sometimes feel that they just need to be so rude. I hate that. I am lucky to have an OK boss. But I have had some really horrible ones.
I had tickets to see Jessica Simpson A LONG time ago when she was popular haha and I told my boss a MONTH in advance that I was going. What did he do? Schedules me a double at my waitressing job and tells me if I go I am fired. I was devestated. Oh well, I guess we gotta make money somehow. haha
But can't wait to hear about your exciting weekend!

Yea, I don't get it either. Mike's only been with the company 2 1/2 years. They made him office manager last fall and the promise of controller and CFO as soon as he gets his degree. It's a great opportunity for him, but sometimes I wonder if it is all worth the stress and headache. He really needs to hire some help, as he's doing the job of 4 people himself. But they won't let him. Grrr!
That's why he tried to take yesterday off, to relax. He got called in anyway. He drove 45 minutes to be there for a little more than an hour.

I'm lucky, my boss is a pain but she pretty much leaves me alone after hours.

It was kind of weird. I mean just seeing stuff set up and getting ready was almost like a dream. You know when you are watching things unfold but you aren't even close to being ready?
It was a strange feeling for sure, but a good one!

I love the pics you posted. I can totally picture how it's going to look in my mind! I really hope that the weather is just perfect for you because all of that water is just beautiful. All of that mess about Mike's boss is just crazy. Chad's going to be in a new position just a few months before our wedding and I'm already starting to get paranoid about his new boss being a complete idiot!

Hopefully Chad's new boss won't be such pain like Mike's.
In either case, I guess the best thing to do is just deal with whatever happens. That's the best you can do right?

Well, Mike left for his golf outing/bachelor party weekend this morning. He was out the door at 7 am to meet up with his brother and ex roommate. They have a tee-time set for 12 noon today. Boys!
It should be a fun weekend for him. He wasn't excited about going but really looking forward to getting away for a couple days and just relaxing. Hopefully Chad (his boss) will leave him alone. We'll see!
I did hear him on the computer this morning before he left so I am SURE he was checking his work stuff one last time.

As for me, tonight after work I am going shopping! I really need some shoes and that is really all I plan to get. I also need some summer/warm weather work clothes. I'm trying to hold off until after the wedding. We still have some "unknowns" as far as money goes with everything.
Tomorrow I get my hair highlighted in the morning and have my own sort of bachelorette party. My mom, sister, aunt, grandma and cousin and I are going out to dinner tomorrow night and then off to the casino. It should be fun. Then Sunday of course is Mother's Day and Mike will be home in the afternoon.

Alright, I gotta head off to work. Ugh! Fridays at the bank. Not a fun day, lets just hope the day goes by fast.

We had lunch brought in today at work from one of our customers. We were giving him a hard time about bringing us lunch and a little while later this man comes in with literally a box of food. I work in a city that has a lot of Italian people we joke there that we do banking for the Italian mafia. Not true but they are all related somehow- the business customers anyway. Well this particular customer is either related to or works with a guy that owns an Italian restaurant and that's what he sent in. It was great! We had ravioli but it wasn't ravioli, I can't remember what it's called. It looks almost like a bag and there is meat or cheese inside. It will come to me. Anyway we had that along with some really good bread, salad and desert. It was a nice suprise.
After that I went shopping and bought 2 pairs of shoes. I spent a little more than I thought but at least I'm set for a little while- for work anyway. I'd like to get some sandals for the honeymoon but not totally necessary. I could live with what I have.

Mike called a little while ago. They had a good game of golf (zzzz!) earlier this afternoon. They were trying to find a particular restaurant and were kind of lost. He had me pull it up on the internet to get a phone number. Funny! After dinner they are going to go watch the Red Wings. I bet it will be an early night for my FH. I can't see him staying up too late, he's ready for bed normally by 10. We'll see though. All 3 guys are staying in the same room so we'll see if little sleepy head gets to go to bed early.

As for me, I'm gonna find myself some dinner and maybe rent a movie. I should actually go get some Chinese food. I can NEVER get that with Mike- he won't touch the stuff. I gotta save that for when he's not home. That's sounding better by the second, so guess where I'm headed.!

That's funny. It's more comfortable anyway. LOL

2 pair of shoes, one I really didn't need but they were cute. I was good and only got what I needed. Well sort of.

Hope you had a nice evening with a movie and CHinese. That is what i do when Nick is not home because he hates chinese too. Kinda funny hahaha.
Glad you found some cute shoes, that is my weakness. So I am sure you found some good ones. :)

SaralovesMike
05-13-2007, 09:42 AM
I didn't end up getting the Chinese. I started working on something for the wedding and then well it was way too late. I hate when that happens. I ate some left overs and my friend called to "check on me." I was saying how since Mike was going to be away this weekend and this would be the first time since we moved in together that I would stay alone in this apartment. I said that all the little noises will freak me out and I'd stay up all night scared. Hahaha.
It didn't really go that way, I did sleep. It was just too quiet without Mike snoring! :)

I LOVE shoes!!! I have way too many in my closet and certainly don't have any need for that many. Who cares- it's still fun. I'm just as bad with purses!

Mike will be home in a few hours- yay!!
It's been pretty strange without him here. I talked to him last night and he said he can't wait to come home. They had fun but he was ready to come home since he missed me. Awwww!

So yesterday I got my highlights. She actually did it a little different. She did the lowlights with a darker brown than she usually does. She said this will make the blonde highlights stand out more and be more striking. About a week before the wedding she is going to touch up everything and FINALLY cut my hair. I've been growing it out for the past couple months in order to get some more length so she will have more to put up.
Anyway, it turned out really good! I love the darker color. Normally it has a little bit of a red tone to it and the darker doesn't seem to. That makes me happy!
This afternoon I am headed over to mom's to let her practice putting my hair up for the wedding. Then we are going to dinner for Mothers Day. Mike will be home just in time to go see his mom. We should be back home spending what's left of the weekend together about 6:00.

The casino trip was fun. We ate dinner at the sports bar/ restaurant right in the casino. The food was ok, nothing special but I did get to have a Hawaiian pizza that I can NEVER have with Mike. He won't touch the stuff. My aunt spends so much time at the casino that our meal was comped. We ate for free so we had drinks, appetizers and dinner. We would have had desert if anyone had the room. Then we headed out to the slots. Everyone gave me $20 to gamble with so I ended up with about $100. My first $20 got up to about $80 playing a nickel machine of all things! I can't figure those things out and it makes me crazy. That $80 lasted me for a while, that's whats good about the nickels, if you win it lasts longer, or seems to. My sister and I found these 2 machines that seemed to pay out pretty good and sat there until we had to meet up with everyone. We even went back to them when everyone decided to play out the tickets they had left before we went home. At that point my ticket had about $6 left. We went back to our favorite machines and I built it back up to $21. Of my $100 I started with I came home with $60. Not too bad!
Today I am going to go to Old Navy and see what kind of summer clothes I can find for the honeymoon!

On that note, I better sign off here. I gotta jump in the shower and head off to the store. I wonder what time that store opens on a Sunday? :)

I slept pretty well Saturday night, I guess cuz I was awake alot the night before. Funny, I lived completely by myself for almost 7 years and one night by myself since I turn into a big chicken! :chicken:

Good luck on finding summer clothes. I love Old Navy!

I love Old Navy too! I could have spent a lot more than I did, in fact I want to go back. I need some shorts and maybe a couple more tops for the honeymoon. I love how that place $100 goes a long way.

It was a great time. Speaking of the lack of snoring. When they were away Mike shared a room with his brother and he complained about the snoring. Aparently Mike kept him all night. Bill (his bro) was amazed that I don't kick him out of bed when he's that loud. LOL.

Glad you got some great stuff at Old Navy. I have NEVER lived by myself and I am really a HUGE chicken. So I do not think I could get a place by myself. I am very lucky to have Nick hahahaha. I am always in awe of people who can live by themselves, so I commend you!

It was pretty scary at first, living by myself. I never thought I'd do it. But once I got thru the first night alone I was fine. Sure there were moments during those years but it was great. Nothing like having a place that is yours and only yours. I liked it so much I got to the point I didn't want a roommate. I thought it would be a huge adjustment having Mike move in but it really wasn't.

Thanks! :)

Yea, 102! This is the scary time now. The main room for the reception can hold 100 people and the pool room is right next door that can hold another 50. Right now that means a whole 2 people get stuck in the pool room! Hopefully we can get a few more so there are at least 3-4 tables in there so they don't feel like outcasts.

NicksBride
05-16-2007, 08:32 AM
hahaha I am sure you can squeeze in two more people if need be. But you still have almost 80 more people who are unknown. I am sure you will be fine. Don't worry. That would be kinda funny though. haha

SaralovesMike
05-16-2007, 08:37 AM
We're up to 102 now. We expect probably another 20-25 more people. We haven't gotten any RSVPs in a few days so we'll see.

Over the weekend I found out that my cousin Chris, his wife Char and their 3 kids are now coming to the wedding. This is totally unexpected. See, my cousin and his wife are really bad with money. They expect my uncle to bail him out all the time. IMO he's 34, his wife is in her 40's, it's time for them to grow up! It's also strange to see him be a "family man" seeing as he didn't want custody of his 2 girls when he got divorced from his 1st wife. But that's another story. Now he's with Char who is a total b****. You'd think one of them in that relationship would have a brain. We were in Florida last May for my other cousin's wedding (his brother) and they would drop their kids off where everyone else was and take off to do their own thing and then get mad if someone said something to them about watching their kids.
ANYWAY, with my wedding they pretty much couldn't afford to fly here. They were insisting my aunt and uncle pay for them. My uncle told him no. So we all just assumed that Chris and Char were out. That was until this weekend. My uncle told my mom that they all of a sudden came into a couple hundred thousand dollars. Something about the company Chris works for going out of business and a bunch of people got together to buy out the company. Then another company came and bought them out. How he got the first bit of money to buy a company I'll never know but they are coming.
His daughters are really sweet little girls. They really hate Char and it's pretty sad. You'd think as a father Chris would have taken his daughter's feelings into consideration before they got married. But then again, he's always been selfish. It will amazing if those girls grow up well- balanced. They are only 7 and 11 now. Just wait until they get to high school!

Other than the guest list slowly growing I am headed down to the courthouse in a little bit to get our marriage license. I was lucky enough to get up at the crack of dawn to drive Mike to work so I can take his car. We dropped mine off at his mechanic last night to have them inspect it and detail it. My lease is up next month and we are considering buying the car. IF there is nothing wrong with it AND if GM will give us good payments. My dad is a little against it. He says you don't get as good a warranty when you buy a lease. We'll see. We have an appointment with my salesman at the dealership next Thursday. Supposedly GM just happens to be starting a huge blowout sale on what? Thursday. We'll see about that. Salesmen!
Then after the court, I am going to try and find jewelry for my dress and hopefully for my BMs as well. Then I have to pick up Mike at 4 to pick up the car by 6. Man that's a lot of driving!! But my reward is my favorite Italian restaurant- it's not close to us so we only go when we have to go on that side of town and guess where the mechanic is? Yep, just down the street!

We can fit 170 total in both rooms. We're about there now if the rest of the people that we're waiting on say yes. There are about 15 more people that we know aren't coming. I'm sure we'll be fine. I just have this fear of having to pick 10 people to put in the pool room.
Oh well, whatever happens happens. Can't stress about something that hasn't happened yet! :)

I drove down to the court house and applied for our marriage license. The biggest problem was finding the place to go once I was there. It was also kind of scary walking thru the metal detectors. There were a couple guys apparently going to a court appearance as they were tethered. Wierd.

Well the process was really fast. The lady there asked me if I wanted to pay an extra $5 to waive the 3 day waiting period. Basically here in Michigan you have to wait 3 days to pick up the license after you apply. I thought sure! Why not? She typed everything up, I double checked it, I signed the waiver (3 days) paid for my license, and walked out the door to go home. I was there a whole 20 minutes.

I also talked to Mike as I was leaving. He was worried since the license was valid for 33 days that we would have to have it back there by the time the license expired. Not the case, we have 10 days after the wedding. Still we have to have someone get it there for us but it can also be mailed. Everything seemed to be right and I was done with my biggest errand of the day.
Then I looked at the license. The marriage ceremony has to be completed by JUNE 15. Do the math, we waived the 3 day waiting period, today is the 16th of May, there are 31 days in this month and our wedding is June 16. Right on, our license expires the day BEFORE the wedding. :bbeek:
I still have to call the court house to find out what the procedure is. I'm sure I will have to go back up there on my next day off. I wonder if they will make us pay another $20 for a new license? Or maybe they have an extension or something like that. Grrr! Just my luck.
I'm gonna make that phone call right now. Maybe they can cancel it over the phone and redo it without one of us having to go up there. Here's hoping!

Hopefully I won't have to pay again. But I won't be that suprised if I do. They told me that I just need to bring it back and I will have to pay the $5. I can't waive the waiting period this time. That's ok. Now it's just finding the time to go back and get it. I have the day off next Tuesday but not another day off until closer to the wedding.
I originally asked to be scheduled LESS hours in May and leading up to the wedding so I could get some last minute stuff done. I'm scheduled 40 hours (I'm only part time to begin with).

It's probably because you're a good worker, show up & on time, etc. Both of my parents have "part" time jobs (my dad is gonna be 69 and my mom is 63). Last week my mom worked 50 hrs and my dad normally works close to 40. Oh well, keeps em entertained I guess.

We are going next week to get our license. We had to get it within 20 days, it costs $40.00, and both of us have to be there. But we don't have to bring anything, ie identification, divorce papers, or anything like that. I guess that comes from living in a small town. They know us as well as our parents. LOL

Why do you have to pay the $5.00? That's too bad that you have to go back in person.

It sure doesn't does it? It doesn't matter THAT much except when I am trying to get things done and I can't. The biggest thing is I am paying for part time benefits. They are better and cheaper for full timers.

Like I said I really don't mind it most of the time. I would have liked to have a few less hours as it gets closer to the wedding. She can schedule me whatever she wants from the time I come back from the hm to the time school starts in the fall.

$40 with no id? Wow! You do live in a small town! :)

The $5 was to waive the 3 day waiting period and you could take the license with you instead of going back in 3 days and picking it up. That's what made the difference. If I would have left it as is we wouldn't have this problem. Oh well. What can you do right?

Yea, 110. We need 18 more people to say NO and we will be at our max. There are still people we know are coming and there are still some unknowns. It's gonna be close.
People we said there was no way they would come- guess what? They're coming!
My mom's cousin for instance. She had to send him an invite, courtesy. She said, "he's not coming." Guess what? We got his response yesterday. He is AND he's bringing a date! :)
Goes to show you, you can't count anyone out! LOL

Yea, I think we paid $35 for our marriage license and they just did it right there for us and we walked away with it. Then we had to send it back in and they would notorize it and make it official and send it back. I think we had it two days after we sent it in. Pretty easy!!

Yea, we had the same thing. We invited people we were SURE wouldn't come and lo and behold they showed up. It was quite funny really. But nice to see that people wanted to come to our wedding. haha its flattering isn't it??? :)

Oh, my...you made me giggle with that one. I've got a good one for you. Last night I was sleeping (I had to be up at 4AM, so had gone to bed early) and my phone rang. It was my daughter saying...I have someone that wants to talk to you. This friend of my kids' comes on the phone just chewing me out because he didn't get an invite to the wedding and..."the entire REST of the town has been invited!!" I said...you can come if you want to...I just didn't know you would want to come. He was sooo funny! It amazes me that some of these people want to come to our wedding.

Yea, my dad told us we got the whole meaning behind the wedding wrong.
We were hashing out the guest list at the time. According to him, June 16th is not about Mike and I getting married, it's not about either of us. It's about the family (inviting people you don't like or haven't seen in a hundred years) and the gifts. Who cares who comes as long as they bring a gift.

He also said we will learn as soon as we have kids and get invited to birthdays, weddings, graduations and such. It is great payback to invite people to your kid's weddings- apparently that's when they get their pay back from all the stuff they had to buy for people.
My dad's such a dork sometimes! LOL

Unbelievable! The next couple weeks are going to fly by! And it can't get here soon enough.

We really only have a few things left to do. Tuesday morning I am going up to the court house to correct the marriage license fiasco. Afterwards I am going to my mom's and we are going to go shopping for my jewelry and if there is time she is going to practice with my hair.
She's been working on some favors. She's really good with making things on the computer. So far she is making a favor tag for our "spoonful of kisses," she is going to print out our place cards AND she put together a card to go with our disposable cameras. We are going to do one of those scavenger hunt type things so we don't get so many dumb pictures. I'm sure we'll get some but with this it might be better. I will post the pictures of everything as soon as they are done.
Also, when we went up to the St Clair Inn a couple weeks ago there was a wedding set to take place there. When we saw their table set up we saw that they had a lot of stuff on the tables. Each table had a real cake as a centerpiece, they also had a bottle of wine at each setting, as well as a couple different favors. Mike started to get worried thinking that we didn't do enough. My mom had the same thought so she asked me if I wanted her to make up lablels for a candybar that had our names on it. I said sure, if she wanted to. I just didn't want her to go too much work trying to figure things out. My dad suggested she go online and see what she could find and just order it.
That's what she ended up doing and this is what she found:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/bambi219/americanbridal_1945_199829067-1.jpg

She was really excited about it since it had the hydrangea on the label, which is what the majority of our flowers will be. Of course it will have our names and our wedding date. She should have those by the end of the week.
Now I just have to put together my survival kits for the girls, buy the jewelry and find some shoes for the reception. I'm hoping to get that stuff done on Tuesday with mom.
Then we can start working on the ceremony stuff and our vows. We also got a list of music from the DJ in the mail. We have to start picking songs we want played at the reception. That has to be mailed back to him by May 30, and we will have a telephone meeting with him around June 5th.

Pictures! At least off the David's Bridal website for now. I want to take real pictures but that will have to be later.

Mom and I had a really good day yesterday. First of all I went down to the county courthouse to correct the marriage license situation. It didn't cost a thing! She just changed the date and I was all set. She made some comment about the lady who did the first one being new and how they were going to let her know they screwed up. I hate when people do that. Just deal with it, I don't want to know about it. I don't want to see anyone get in trouble for something I should have caught before I left! Whatever.
So I picked mom up. She showed me what she made for the cameras. She did a scavenger hunt list. I also dropped off all the cameras, the place cards and the extra ribbon I had.

First stop was David's Bridal. I really didn't want to get anything else from there but she said when she was there to pick up her dress she saw some really nice jewelry and thought we should look.

This is what we picked out for me:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/bambi219/s06_SE11310.jpg

This is what I picked for my FG:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/bambi219/F05_SE0026.jpg

This is for BMs:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/bambi219/F06_B3714_Silver.jpg

It's supposed to be silver- you can't tell in the picture. There were only 2 necklaces available anywhere locally. Of course I needed 3. So we put those 2 on hold and decided to go to the other David's. They didn't have any. That necklace really looks great with their dresses, the silver next to the peri takes on the blue shade and looks really great. I didn't want to find anything else. So we decided that my MOH was going to be slightly different. She got the same necklace, just in white and clear.

After David's we ran over to Bed Bath and Beyond. I wanted to find a picture frame for our invitation. I had an idea in my head of a silver frame with hearts on it.
We are going to do a similar table like this at our reception:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/bambi219/100_1291.jpg
This was her frame
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/bambi219/100_1290.jpg

This is what I found:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/bambi219/3654813605629P.jpg

As soon as I saw that frame I knew this was the one I wanted. The only problem this BB&B only had one and it was broken. My mom suggested that since we were going to another David's we could stop at the BB&B that's nearby. Great idea and they had a bunch of them!! So I got my frame.

My mom got me a baseball cap that said "Bride" on it for our casino trip. Mike was laughing at the hat so my mom decided that he was going to get a groom cap. He HAS to wear it at the rehearsal. Teach him to laugh huh? It doesn't really fit with our Tigers theme but oh well.
We went looking for his hat but didn't find one that matched mine. She may end up buying 2 new ones to get them to match. Not that it matters but she wanted them to look the same.

After lunch (Don Pablos, yum!) we went to the mall to look for gifts for the wedding party. Those pictures will have to be in the next post. I think I'm at my max for pictures. We also went to Michaels. She bought bubbles for the reception. We weren't going to do them since we were kind of maxed out on favors. It was one of those thing we said if we can we will if not we won't worry about it. Mom bought the bubbles! We also got a pen for our guest book and she bought some favor tags for the "spoonful of kisses."

Ok, next post!

We got so much done yesterday! I am so pleased with everything so far. Really now all that is left is more messing around with my hair and figuring out make up. For the make up I think I am going to go to the mall- clinique or something, have someone do my makeup and if I like it buy whatever they use and go home and practice to do it myself. I don't wear a lot of make up usually and I don't want to look "made up" just enough for pictures.

Back to the gifts. I really wanted something to jump out at me and really nothing was catching my eye. I was going to do the survival kits but decided that was going to be too much. I saw a bracelet- like the Tiffany bracelet with the big chunky links and heart, at Things Remembered. I was kind of liking that, but wasn't sure if that was going to be too expensive. So we left and looked in some other stores. On the way out I wanted to stop in again to look at the bracelet. Then I saw this:
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g202/bambi219/000547958.jpg
Which was about half the cost of the bracelet. So that's what I did. I got them each the necklace that came with the box. Then I had the boxes engraved with their names on it. For all 3 necklaces/box it was just under $100. I still have about $20-$25 to spend on them if I want to get them something else.

Mike already got gifts for his guys, except one. He was working on that last night. Then we started working on ceremony details and picking music. That will continue tonight so we can send our music request back to our DJ by Friday. Phew!

Now I really need to get off the computer and get ready to go to work.

Last night Mike and I sat down and hashed out all the wedding details. We had to pick songs for the dj so this is how it all started.
I think he may have even sent the DJ the timeline he made up. He's so darn organized it's scary. Now I just wonder he's going to be if things just don't go as planned. I mean that if something he has scheduled to start at 7:22 doesn't start until 7:30 (like things happen at weddings right). He's an accountant what can I say?

Anyway, this is a list of songs we have chosen for the ceremony and reception:

Seating of the guests: music by the Beatles

All You Need Is Love
In My Life
Love Me Do
P.S. I Love You
Real Love
Thank You Girl
Till There Was You
You Really Got A Hold On Me
You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away
All My Loving
And I Love Her
Here, There, and Everywhere
It’s Only Love
Oh’ Darling

Other ceremony music
Bagpipes

Reception
As the wedding party and parents are introduced into the hall each couple will have a tv show theme song played. They don't know this and won't until that moment.

ex. Mike's parents will walk in to the theme from Dragnet.

Mike and I will be led in by Bagpipes, but first we may have the theme from the "Newleywed Game" playing as he is introducing us.

Our First Dance
Something- The Beatles

Wedding Party Dance
Shake a Tail Feather- Blues Brother's

Me and Dad
What a Wonderful World- Louis Armstrong

Mike and Mom
Down in the Valley- Johnny Cash

Anniversary Dance
Chances Are- Bob Seger
Still Crazy After All These Years- Paul Simon

Fathers Day Dance (dads and daughters)
In My Father's Eyes- Eric Clapton

We really wanted to do something different for a lot of this. We're not doing the boquet toss or the garter dance. I'm not opposed to the boquet toss and Mike is totally against the garter thing. I guess that is not something people do as much anymore. It's fine with me.

We also wanted to do something to honor dads since it is Father's Day weekend.

Next, the vows!!

We have the last meeting with Don our minister in 2 weeks to finalize the ceremony. That reminds me, I have to email him a copy of our program. Better do that now before I forget. Then it's off to my first tanning session to get ready for the wedding.

Yep, that's right 17 days til the wedding, and only 8 more days of work til I'm off for 2 weeks.

We've been pretty busy! We're just finalizing some details now. I'm working on the wedding programs and hope to get them done tonight. Then I have lots and lots of ribbon to cut and bows to tie on the bubble favors my mom bought. Darn it, I was out all day today and forgot to go to Michaels. Maybe after dinner.

My sister is finishing her montage of us she is going to show now at both the rehearsal AND the reception. She wasn't going to show us but then changed her mind. It turned out really good and it makes me tear up every time! The first part is us growing up. She has it set with similar pictures and close to the same ages. An example is one of my mom holding me when I was only days old and the next one of him is his mom holding him and he was about a month old. He's in the infamous Christmas suit (go back and find it in the journal and you'll see it) so he had to be no more than 3 weeks old.
The 2nd part is of the 2 of us. She had 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 written in between pictures then she used the Words of Wisdom she got from my shower. She had everyone write down advice or a story to give to us at the shower. The project turned out great!
Even the pictures at the end. Mike and I went out to breakfast with my parents on Sunday and my mom grabbed her camera. We've been trying to get some pictures taken of us for weeks! Time was running out so my sister sent my mom with a list of "poses" and she went to work. She even did it in the parking lot of the restaurant.

These are just a couple:

Today I went for my final fitting and picked up my dress at David's Bridal. Man I hate that place!!! Everyone has picked up their dresses and had their shoes dyed. Well all except my poor mom. She bought her dress back in April and when she did that she got ordered her shoes. They were supposed to dye hers back then. Did they? Nope. So they sent them out again- supposedly. Yet again, nothing. So, my sister was there last week picking up her dress and shoes. They told my mom that the shoes would be ready that day and suprise suprise, they weren't. This time they told her they would be ready on the 30th- today.
My mom calls me and asked if I could pick up her shoes when I was there today since she wouldn't make it. Sure why not? Guess what? They still aren't done. The lady told me today that they were expected to be back in for pick up on June 15th. WHAT????? "Oh is that after the wedding?" the idiot asks me. No, but that's the day before and we will be out of town for the rehearsal until the wedding the next day. Well this time they tell me that they will be done TONIGHT and ready tomorrow. We'll see about that. What is it about that place???

Then, we got another scare with the tuxedo place. This was almost expected because when I went to add my dad to the list of guys that needed tuxes it got all screwed up. Mike was bumped completely off the list and they had his brother Bill as the groom. They called Mike the other day to verify they had the correct colors and styles.
When she asked him if all the guys had the periwinkle vests he knew that was wrong so he told them to call me.
They had all the guys in the 3 button notch jacket with periwinkle vests including the groom. Wrong-o! The groomsmen yes, Mike and JW (RB) have tails and platinum vests. For JW they had him in an asphalt vest. Where did that come from?? My dad, was the only one who was right. Hopefully it got corrected. But seeing as we've had so much difficulty with David's Bridal we're going to double check this weekend that they have the order right. The guys don't pick up the tuxes until after 5 pm on the 14th. That's not much time if they give them purple tuxes or something else outrageous!

Everything else for the most part is coming along. We just have to start working on our vows. That meeting with our pastor is next week. We're not writing our own, although Mike would like to. I'm so bad at that stuff. We're just looking for ideas and going from there. I can make my own with the help of copying from others. All we know for sure is we're saying more than just "I do."

Time to start dinner! Be back later.

Thanks! (pictures) Mike was worried that they would come out bad- he has a tendency to close his eyes when someone takes a picture. He's really worried about the wedding pictures for that reason.
For these he said he didn't think about it and just had fun. I told him that's the plan for the wedding too and it will be fine!

aww that is so cute. Nick never smiles in his pictures, but he actually smiled in just a few. It is great. just tell Mike to focus on something that is outside the photographer and his eyes will be open.
TWO WEEKS, I remember my two week mark and I was a mess with excitment. It was fantastic. I can feel your excitment, and I am sooo excited for you!
What is the one thing besides Marrying MIke of course that you are looking forward to the most?

What I am looking forward to the most? This is going to be the first time in 23 YEARS that my mom's family will be together. Both her brothers (they live in AZ) and their wives and all the cousins and now the 2nd cousins. The last time everyone was together like this was my grandpa's funeral in the early 80's.

The wedding is in 12 days!! OMG I can actually say I am getting married NEXT Saturday!! :)

... the wedding is in 11 days!!

We've just been finalizing details. Today Mike had a phone meeting with our DJ. "DJ Shine" told Mike that he has to be the most anal groom he's ever worked with. Mike sent him a sort of itinerary of how things will be run on the day of the wedding. Now I thought that he made this for us- nope! I got a good laugh out of it. Mike is very organized what can I say?

We've started the fun of the seating at the reception. The fun is figuring out which people to stick in the pool room. Who will go there without being offended? Some of the girls at work said, "put us in there."
That might be a good idea but at the same time do I really want my boss in there???

Everything is really coming together. We've got the RSVP's pretty much finalized. My mom's entire family will be at the wedding. All her siblings, with her that's 4 total, all their kids with their husbands/wives/significant others AND all their kids. The last time that side of the family was together was the early 80's when my grandpa passed away. This is going to be so exciting!

Mike's sister is hoping to come. As you know she is very pregnant. Her due date is now June 22. Originally it was June 17th. If she wasn't high risk she would be able to make it to the wedding. But the fact that we are going to be about an hour away she doesn't want to risk being that far from her doctor. Totally understandable.
The latest is she has an appointment on Friday with her doctor. If she hasn't gone into labor by then and she is still feeling uncomfortable he will probably take the baby on Monday. Yay!! If that is the case she will be at the wedding just not able to stand up. That would be great since I know how much she wants to be there to see her little brother get married.
Mike's mom's birthday is on Thursday. We're really hoping that she has the baby then. That would be really cool.

Tonight we have to work on our vows. We have our last meeting with our pastor tomorrow night. We should have been doing this sooner I know. It's just been too crazy!
We're not writing our own, we're just kind of getting ideas. Mike would have liked to write his own vows but I am so bad at that kind of stuff! I can take some ideas and make my own out of that but that's about it.
He should be home soon and then we'll get working on it. Ah that reminds me, I gotta go cut some potatoes for dinner tonight. He's making fried chicken and asked me to make his favorite garlic potatoes. Better get to it!

Hopefully Mike's sister gets to come. It's crazy that your mom's family is all going to be there...what a special occasion! Just stick all of the work guests in the pool room...then blame it on your co-workers idea. ;) Kidding, of coarse!!

I hope that you had a relatively stress free time working on the vows. I'm with ya on that one, I want to get ideas and then do our own version, but I wouldn't want to just make them from scratch. Too much for me!

Yay! It's getting closer!

I am so glad that you got all of the stuff worked out with DB. As if you didnt have enough stuff going on to worry about!

I dont think I could do our own vows, I am not good at ALL with that kind of stuff. I hope it all going good for you!!

We really really hope she can come. Its looking pretty positive now. She went to the doctor yesterday because she was so uncomfortable and he said possibly Friday. The earlier she has it the more time she has to recover.

The vows were pretty stress free. None at all actually!
He's really good at writing things like that, me I'd rather get my inspiration from something copied! LOL

Our vows went INCREDIBLY well. In fact it took no time at all. Mike was in the kitchen making the chicken and talking to his sister on the phone.
I got on the computer and started searching for ideas for vows and came up with 2 that I liked. Figuring that was too easy I saved them and went into the living room to call my mom.
Mike comes in and says "those are pretty good." I told him I liked the first one of the two better but those were just some ideas to get started. His phone rings again. I pull out all the ribbon and the bubbles and start tying the ribbon. He comes back in a few minutes later and says he liked the first one better as well and should we go with that one?
I was like, sure but you don't want to look at some more? Nope! He was set.

This is what we are going with:

(Name), I love you. You are my best friend. Today I give myself to you in marriage. I promise to encourage and inspire you, to laugh with you, and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle.
I promise to love you in good times and in bad, when life seems easy and when it seems hard,
when our love is simple, and when it is an effort. I promise to cherish you, and to always hold you in highest regard. These things I give to you today, and all the days of our life.

I even emailed it Don (pastor) last night to get his approval. We have our final meeting with him tonight to finalize the ceremony.

Somewhat good news came last night for Mike's sister. She's been pretty uncomfortable. She said the baby feels like it is choking her so she hasn't been able to eat much and she hasn't gotten much sleep. She made an appointment with her doctor yesterday. He told her that he could see just how uncomfortable she was and that the baby was in a sort of odd position. He was going to wait to see the next few days and if things were not much better he would probably take the baby on Friday. I think he's still waiting for it to come on it's own (her to go into labor) for whatever reason. If she has the baby Friday then she has the weekend in the hospital and then a couple extra days to recover at home. She said as long as she has the baby she will be there! She probably won't be able to stand up but at least she'll be there.

omg I have tears reading that vow. It is just so touching, I wouldn't be able to hold back the tears saying that. So nice!! :)

That is exciting news about Mikes sister, I am sure she is ready to have that baby. What is she having? That is nice of her to be there after having the baby if she can! I am sure it is soemthing she wants as well. So just tell her to plug her nose and blow really hard and hopefully the baby will come out. haha (That is what I told my moms friend when Iw as little. ) I couldn't understand why she couldn't just blow really hard while plugging her nose, I thought the baby would just shoot right out. hahahahaha:D

Yea, I hope that I will be able to keep it together. I think that I will have to look past him n order to say it. No doubt he will be all choked up and then I'll just lose it!

She is really really ready. It's been pretty tough being on bedrest all this time and she really has no help or support from her husband (whole other story). I've never seen someone so not happy during their pregnancy. Maybe once the baby is born things will get better.
They didn't find out what she is having. We're all hoping for a little girl. Mike's been calling her "Baby Madge" since Caroline won't even release the names she's picked out.
I'll have to tell her about plugging her nose and blowing- good one! LOL. We've all tried pushing her stomach and someone else suggested jumping jacks. Stubbborn little Madge! LOL
Maybe she's waiting to come one Mike's mom's birthday- which is tomorrow...

Well tomorrow is my unofficial last day of work for 2 weeks. Unofficial because I do have to work on Saturday. But it's only 4 hours and doesn't really count. Tomorrow will be the last time I work with everyone until after we get back from our honeymoon AND I also get to leave an hour early. Woo hoo!!

Mike's going to the Tiger's game tomorrow and may have his #2 Bachelor party on Saturday. It all depends on Madge! So far nothing yet but Caroline does have another appointment tomorrow. We're hoping he will take that baby at the very earliest over the weekend. Cross your fingers!!

Tonight is Mike's mom's birthday. 69 today, WOW! We're going to stop by and see her when Mike gets home from work which should be any second now. Then it's home to work on the seating chart for the reception. Fun fun fun!! We're about done, we just had some people RSVP at the last minute so now we have to move some people around. Grrr! Gotta love that huh?

Well, guess who's home? Yep, my husband to be! Time to go see the birthday girl! :)

My first niece was born last night! She was born at 11:50 pm, weighing in at 7 lbs 3 oz, 22 inches long. They named her Beverly Ann after Mike's mom and Aunt Annabelle.

Now everyone can breathe a huge sigh of relief! :)
Caroline had been so uncomfortable that her doctor told her to come in to the hospital later complaining of pain and discomfort and he would perform the c-section. Turns out she was actually in labor- all the pain she was experiencing were contractions! Amazing. Beverly Ann would have been here definitely over the weekend.
It looks pretty positive that Caroline will be able to be AT the wedding. It's still pretty up in the air whether or not she'll stand up. I'm just happy she had the baby and will be able to see her little brother get married.

I worked my last day for 2 weeks today- after 4 hours sleep. We didn't get home until close to 2:30 in the morning. I'm incredibly exausted even after a 3 hour nap. Mike has his poker party tonight and after today the next week will be spent with serious last minute plans!

Oh and one more thing, yesterday morning the forecast for next Saturday was 77 and partly sunny. Mid afternoon it changed to 75 and RAIN.
More blowing away clouds and good weather dances!

Beverly is also a little bit bruised on her forehead. When she was born she had some bruising on her head, nose and chin. I guess it was from the way she was in the womb, she was in kind of a weird position.

I know it's pretty hard to look at a little baby and think of her as a Beverly- or even Bev. Kind of an old fashioned name, but she was named after Mike's mom. Who was absolutely thrilled!

It's really winding down. Today is my last day of running around. I have to go to Target and pick up some wrapping paper for the attendants gifts, and Detroit Tigers t-shirts, as well as some "unmentionables" for my FSIL. Her incision from the c-section is still bleeding a little bit. She doesn't want to ruin any of her own stuff so she asked me to pick up some "granny panties" (LOL!) for her.
This afternoon I'm going to pick up James to take him to my mom's salon to get his hair cut. We're hoping he will cooperate. Uncle Mike is getting his done at 6 and I am supposed to get the little man there about that time so he sees Uncle Mike. I think he will be good, he may have to sit on either mine or Mike's lap during the haircut. Whatever works!
My plan was to get everything done so I can actually spend tomorrow here at home cleaning, packing and doing laundry. I think I may go tanning one last time too- either tomorrow or Thursday.
Thursday is going to be pretty busy. We have to pick up our rental car at 7 am, the Mike's off to his parents house to clean, cut the grass and wait for the tent to be delivered for the rehearsal bbq. Then it's off to the tuxedo place to pick up the guys tuxes and hopefully get home at a decent time. Then Friday the fun starts! :)

We've got relatives coming in either today or tomorrow and more on Thursday. Its all coming so fast and I am soooooo excited! :)

ahh I am just so excited for you. SOunds like you are going to keep busy and tha tis the key. I didn't and I was going insane, I swear I could have run a marathon twice for how much energy I had those last few days. Just keep busy, read a book take a walk or run errands as you are. That is the best thing to do!!!!!!

3 days to go!

Today is stay at home, do laundry and pack for our honeymoon day. I'm hoping to get as much of the laundry done today so I won't have much to do tomorrow. I don't have a ton really just I do have to make sure there are clean sheets and towels as my aunt and uncle are staying here while we're gone. That wouldn't be good for them coming to stay with nothing to sleep on or no towels!

When Mike gets home we're going to go get him a manicure. He's so funny about it- "You're going with me, right?"
I got him to stop biting his nails so we can take a good hand picture. I was joking about how now he should get a manicure. He actually wants to do it! My mom scared him, she said that some will put clear polish on a guys nails. He wasn't having that!
Then we have to go and find a couple more groomsmen's gifts. He got them all something different and now still needs to find something small for both brothers (one got Tiger Tickets, the other got some DVDs) and an actual gift for his BIL. He has no idea what to get so that should be fun. He gets cranky shopping so we'll see how it goes.

Tomorrow, we get up to pick up the rental car. Then Mike is off to clean at his parents place. The tent is supposedly coming today so his afternoon is getting cut off. I'm thinking good since he doesn't know what time he'll be home from work tonight AND he still needs to get his manicure. We might have some shopping time tomorrow afternoon if needed. I'm getting my nails and toes done tomorrow morning. Then it's tux time tomorrow night. Man! Everything is coming together and coming really fast.

Oh! I forgot to mention. Yesterday I called Mike at work, he was talking to his sister and told me that the people he works with threw him a small party and he'll call me back.

About 15 minutes later he calls back. He said that the guy that is taking over while he's gone came into his office and wanted to go over things one more time. Mike said he was thinking, we just did this, but says ok. He closes the office door and a few minutes later there's a knock. There was no one there. Mike and the other guy (who knew what was going on) walk around the office and see that no one is around. Mike went into the kitchen and a bunch of people turn on the lights and yell "Suprise!"
They had lunch brought in, they had champagne and everyone got us some gifts. That was so nice!! He told me that they were trying to figure out how to get my number off his phone to call me to have me show up too. But they couldn't.
That's so sweet!
We got a couple hundred dollars of gift certificates, some money, a muffin pan from Pampered Chef and some scrapbook stuff from Creative Memories. Which I CAN NOT wait to use!

Alright, better start the coffee and get to work! :)

With 2 days left this is probably going to be my last journal update until after we get back from the honeymoon a week from Saturday.
Things have really come together. I just got back from picking up our rental with Mike. He went to his parents to get some cleaning done and some running around with his best man. He should be home by early afternoon.
For me, I'm going sometime early morning to get my nails and toes done. Then its back home to finish up the laundry, wrap the rest of the gifts and pack.
At 6, we're going to After Hours to pick up the tuxes. Hopefully everything is correct. We stopped by there last week to double check and it seemed to be ok. We'll see tonight.

Tomorrow starts all the festivities. We have to pick up our rehearsal cake at 11 am and our luncheon starts at 11:30. Afterwards we drive up to St Clair, check in and hopefully relax a little bit before the rehearsal at 6. Then its "girls night!"
The plan is go somewhere for dinner then head back to the hotel to hang out. It should be a fun day. Then Saturday, the BIG DAY!!

I'm supposed to go out to breakfast with my parents in the morning. Meanwhile Mike and some of the guys are going to golf. The plan is to get him away from the hotel until I start getting ready. The lady that's doing my hair should be there by 11 to do my sister's hair then me at noon. Pictures start around 2 for the guys and 3 for me and the girls. Then the ceremony is at 5.

Sunday morning we're up early and down for the breakfast buffet (at the request of my parents) and on the road by 9. We'll be in Gatlinburg by 8 pm. We're there until Tuesday morning then its off to Charleston for the rest of the week and we'll be home on Saturday- late afternoon.

Phew! That's the plan. I'm exausted just typing it all out! Not really just really really EXCITED!!!
I know the next 2 days are going to fly!

See you all in a week! :)
