I am getting married December 9, 2006 and I want a really unique centerpiece. My fiance wants flowers and quite frankly we are on a reallly tight budget and can't really afford it.

Hmm.. you could make a makeshift wreath and put a candle in the center..
or, here are a couple more..
-An ice sculpture surrounded by a wreath of white or white and light blue flowers adorned with silver ribbon, by a chain of flickering lights or by 4 snow globes.
-A candle (in a hurricane glass) surrounded by a wreath of white or white and light blue flowers adorned with silver ribbon or by 4 snow globes.
-Little standing dolls and white styrofoam balls as children playing with snow balls.
-Snow men/women
-Glass snow flakes,
-Silver foil covered hershey kisses,
-Pails, crystal or glass bowl filled with clear marbles, downy feathers fiberfill or cotton ball sprayed with glitter
-Winter motif confetti.

This is sort of what we are doing.
http://www.800florals.com/img/3430Xsm.jpg (https://www.800florals.com/order.asp?item=3430X) The vase we are using is smaller. We bought them at Hobby Lobby. They always are havng sales. Then we are using red votives inside. We are going to use real pine. We have lots of pine around here so we will be cutting it the day of the wedding.
We are not doing this, but this is a fabulous idea and I think you could get by pretty cheap with these too.

You could also do floating candles. You can get snowflake floating candles from this site along with alot of great stuff for a winter wedding.

I love the christmas balls in the bowl idea. I think that would look really nice and you could definatly get some inexensive glass balls at the dollar store or walmart.
Another idea is, you could get a mirror tile and place a number of white pillar candles of different sizes on it.

Kacie_bride - thanks so much for posting that site!!! I have been looking for a certain snowflake FOREVER - and this is the first site I've seen them! They are a bit smaller than I would like, but at least its a start! THANK YOU!
winterwonderland - Do you have any specific colors in mind? If your FH would like flowers, little pointsettas would be very pretty in a base of evergreen boughs (pointsettas are inexpensive and come in different colors and evergreens could/might be free if you know someone who needs their trees trimmed :) - or if they sell Christmas trees they often trim the trees before they sell them, so you could ask for the trimmings - they would probably appreciate not having to dispose of them).
If you can post any ideas you already have, maybe we can think of other options for you (colors, formal or more casual - stuff like that).

There is another thread about winter/holiday theme ideas - http://forums.onewed.com/showthread.php?t=3406&highlight=HOLIDAY+THEME
I also like the candles and balls in the bowl idea posted before :)

You're very welcome. I have bought several things from this site and plan to buy a few more.

Hmmmm.. maybe I should pick your brain a bit more Kacie_bride! :D Even though I think I have visited EVERY snowflake site there is, there are obviously some I have missed (like this one) The snowflake I am interested in is the second one on the first page you posted (1.25" 6 for a $1+) I am looking for this one at 2" or (2 1/2" but no bigger) - in white. I once found these, but they were colored, but there must be some white ones out there! Have you seen these a bit bigger? Anyone else? I dont know why I am stuck on THESE exact ones, but thats my bit of Bridezilla I guess. (I guess it doesnt hurt to ask) :)

How about just white and silver votive candles, silver glitter confetti, and white rose petals scattered along the table?

I can't really tell if these are silver or white, but they are 2.5 inches. They are from this site:

I love everyones ideas and thank you for everything. Today, I was thinking I could buy christmas village pieces and place them with fake snow on all the tables. Maybe that way everyone would be in the christmas spirit.

what if you did like just some small candles and holders around a larger candle? no mirrors or anything i know you can find lots of candles fairly cheap! :) to add some sparkle wal mart has huge containers of glitter (in your colors of course) that you could throw on the tables it's a lil messy but cheap hehe and sparkles like crazy!
