I think this has been mentioned before here at the OneWed Forums, but something I just saw up here in our department sparked an idea to post here.

I just saw a bookmark that a bride/groom designed on our site. It had two of their engagement photos on the front, and on the back it said:

"Thank you all for being here today. In lieu of favors, the bride and groom have made a charitable donation to The Armed Forces Foundation. God Bless Our Troops."

I thought that was really, really neat. Had I been invited to their wedding, I really would have liked the "favor" of the charitable donation to a very, very good cause.

One of our graphics guys, Dale said, "Yeah, I like that idea. I don't go to a wedding expecting a favor. A donation is a good idea. Just as long as they provide a meal." *chuckles*

Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you all since I saw that design come through our department. I'm a bit "soft" when it comes to anything military related as it is. Both my grandpas served in the Navy during WWII, a couple of my cousins have served in the Army, and my favorite Uncle is retired from the Marines. (Never refer to a retired Marine as an 'ex-Marine.' They will take great offense to it. "Once a Marine, ALWAYS a Marine.")

Have a great weekend all!

I think donations are always nice; and neat idea to do a bookmark as a favor to share it :)
