[The Proper Wedding]

I'm not a very good story teller, so this part will probably be really short. But I got a good handful of pics I can share!

Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best that day. Sprinkling on and off all day, really. At one point we decided to bustle my dress from the start, just so I could walk through what was going to be WET grass. But Then it cleared up again. So we decided against it.

We got down there and my photographer was already there. We went clear across to the other side do the field and started pics of just me and pics of me and my girls and me with my mom and stepdad. The it had sprinkled on the way to the ceremony, but held off while we were there, until my last pic, I think it was of me and my flower girl. Her father (Luke's brother/groomsman) held an umbrella outside the shot sideways, the rain was coming sideways because it was so windy.

Then it was time to go. We had the pastor and Lukas already standing up front, and the groomsmen actually escorted the bridesmaids down the aisle. So we had Eric and Kayli. Then Josh and Scarlett. Then we had Laurie (MOH) holding the ring bearer and flower girls hand (she didn't throw her petals and he didn't carry his shield like I wanted him too lol). And the best man walked behind her since he couldn't actually escort her while she had the children. Then it was my turn. My stepfather and I walked down. I don't remember it, I was too nervous, but people tell me the rain held off JUST until Dave and I walked under the canopy. They said as soon as we got underneath you could hear just a little rain on the top. It was perfect timing. Like the rain was being held JUST for us! :)

Once we started, I didn't feel quite so nervous. We spent more time facing the Alter, which the pastor stood behind, rather than facing each other, so I couldn't see the guests very well from his side. So that made my nerves not so crazy LOL.

It went by so quickly tho! I mean the ceremony probably only took 20 minutes anyways, but it didn't even feel that long.

My dress got SO dirty LOL. Since I decided to leave the train, even tho it wasn't really raining, there were still wet grass clumps (because the guys had to mow the field the day of the rehearsal), so underneath got all grassy. I got a big stain on the front from leaning up against a little bridge for pics. But we got some shout wipes and got most of it out.

My aunt Jennifer (stepdads sister) weaseled a family picture out of my photographer. They dressed all alike (9 people total). My stedpad wasn't very happy about that! LOL He probably just started another family fight over that because they did it behind his back. Lukas and I drove up (and inbetween the family and photographer) while this was going on. Oh well LOL

The DJ was having issues, kept blowing fuses or something because the cookers were too close to him. I guess he lost about half his music because the one time he blew a fuse it wiped one of his hard drives clean (he didn't completely lose it, he had it all backed up at home, but he didn't have it for us tho). Once dinner was over he was able to start the music back up without fear of doing that anymore. There were a lot of little things like that that happened. But I didn't let a single thing get to me! And I'm very proud of myself for it! It was so much fun. I don't think I could have asked for a better day! :)

hehe thanks everyone! I got more coming, I promise. I just don't have time to post them all yet. I just finished reading a section of stuff for my new job, stuff that has to be done before my training on tuesday. So now that I'm done with that for the night I'm going to go and eat dinner (yes at 9 pm) and then wind down in bed with some tv before bed. You know what? It REALLY does look like we're IN the woods, doesn't it? But we're actually not. We just picked a REALLY good spot for the wedding! But I just LOOOOOVE how it looks like that. It looks like we were really secluded in the middle of the woods. Well, the spot was kinda secluded because you have do drive off a hill off the main road. But still, you know what I mean. All of these pics were taken at the edge of the big gigantic field! I'll have to see if I can take some pics sometime soon and give you all a bigger picture of the area that we were in. :)

LOL I know! We asked her to do it for us, and tried conning her into it by telling her MY mom was going all out (and I think she looked amazing! :heart: ) and she just simply said "no, I don't think I'm going to dress up". Instead she wore a dress that apparently didn't fit her right because ALL day I got to hear her complain about her slip riding up on her. And when I was in the bathroom getting bustled by SIL, she came in and goes "oh do me next" and made SIL lift up her dress and pull her slip down. Got to see a wonderful tattoo on her butt that I really wish I didn't know was there LOL. (I thought it was bad enough that I knew there was one on her boob). Had she participated like my momma, she wouldn't have had ANY slip problems. Her dress wouldn't have been way too tight. :rofl:

Oh well. Like you say, it was definitely to be expected!

And thank you so much about the flowers. I got so many compliments on them. My photographer just couldn't believe that I did them myself! :) Made me feel good!!!

I really didn't want to start a new thread for this. But I wanted to throw it out there and see what all of you thought..how you would feel.

First off, most of you know our money situation. We had to cut way down on things because my dad no longer was involved. DH's dad ended up giving us quite a bit of money to help out, when he didn't even have to. He gave us about $700 something to put towards alcohol and rehearsal dinner. When he did this, we were all under the impression that DH's mom was going to contribute *something* as well. We figured it wouldn't be as much. We didn't really know. But she assured us they'd help out as well. Oh DH's dad also bought 900 meatballs for dinner as well.

So, we never got a dine from my MIL to put towards the wedding...unless you count the U-haul the she rented the day before to take care of the chairs...when it was actually kinda over kill because they all coulda fit in the back of one pick up truck, two at most..which we had available. That only cost her about $20 plus a few cents per mile. Nothing major.

Ok, that's over and done with. We're opening our cards and gifts, with intentions of putting every card we get in a scrapbook. Not only did MIL not help out with the wedding AFTER SHE SAID SHE WOULD AND WE WERE RELYING ON A LITTLE HELP, we didn't even get a card from her. We were kinda expecting a card with some decent money in there, since they didn't help with the wedding (at least that's what my SIL keeps saying she should do). Then again, expecting her to not really give us much of anything because she's weird. BUT we definitely expected at least a card. But there wasn't one.

Now, before I continue, how would that make you feel? I mean, the gift is not important. I really don't care. But I wanted a card to put in the scrapbook. I mean from the other guests, it really didn't matter (there were a few friends who didn't get us one). But there's a few people that we expected to get one from...our parents. And those we wanted to make sure were in that scrapbook for sure. This is something that I want to keep for our kids. It's a special thing to me. No card.

Ok, moving on. SIL asked what MIL got us...like how much (or how little). I said not even a card (oh she didn't sign our guest book either). So that made SIL mad. And she emailed MIL and said they forgot to give us a card and that it's not to late to send one to us LOL. MIL replied and said they didn't forget. they were just waiting till they had something to put in it.

Ok, that does make me feel better. BUT wouldn't you pull bride or groom aside (especially being one of their mothers) and said you DO have a gift coming, it's just going to be late? Because I certainly would! So all these really sad feelings that we've had were for nothing.

IDK my mom did the same to us... didn't get us a card, didn't say anything about it... til about a week later when she was asking about cards and I commented that i was shocked X and Y didn't give us cards OR gifts... then it sorta hit her and she said OHHH your father and i forgot to give you a card! and she mailed it w/a check (i think the situation was similar to urs, she was waiting to have $ to put in the card)

Hmmm! I definitely would be upset. I understand wanting to wait, but yeah... you think she'd pull you aside and say something. Initially, before she said anything to SIL, I would be REALLY upset. Like "REALLY!?" but after I found out she plans on sending one, I would be less upset and just confused. Your MIL is something else...

Yeah that is kinda strange and I would have been hurt but I probably wouldn't say anything to her....MIL didn't show up at our gift opening and there wasn't a gift there either nor did they sign our guest book....in order for us to get our gift we had to go to their place...it upset me but in the end I realized that she has to live with her decisions....I'm sorry your MIL is a pain too. I definately think she should have given at least a card the day of and/or told ya's.

Thanks for sharing ladies. I'm glad I'm not the only one then. I mean, yeah now that I know, I'm ok. Like Jenny said, just confused now. But at the time it hurt. I only told SIL because she asked why MIL got us. It was all facebook email conversation, so her reply was that she was going to email her mother, and then did so right after, so I couldn't tell her no it's ok. She just went ahead and did it. But I'm glad because now I know. I don't care about the gift, I just felt like she had something against me, since she didn't help physically or financially with the wedding (and she said she'd help financially a little) and then no signing of the guest book and no card. Ya know? With the way she's been treating me lately, I just felt like she had something against me that I didn't know about. But that's not the case, everything's good now....well aside from the fact that she's out of her mind, but that's something that will never change soon! :blink:

First off, Congratulations Whitney! You looked beautiful. And second, yes I would be a little hurt too. I can understand that maybe she couldn't afford to put anything in the card. But cards don't cost a lot of money, the gesture would have been nice.

Thanks Danielle! And thats exactly what I mean. She could have even printed on off her computer and we would have been thrilled (which I know she knows how to do LOL)

by the way. I have a friend that posted most pics on facebook. I just haven't had time to steal them from her first of all, and second to post them here. But I promise I will as soon as I get the chance (maybe sunday). I work tomorrow, then after work we have a paranormal investigation to do. Busy day/night tomorrow!

OH BOY! I just saw a pic posted on facebook by my MIL of her and her sisters. First of all, Lukas and I both cringed when we saw them taking the pics. Her and 2 of her sisters standing there hiking up their dresses RIGHT ON THE DRAWBRIDGE WHERE EVERYONE COULD SEE THEM DOING IT.

This is what I gotta live with for the rest of my life? .....Oh boy is all I got to say! :rofl:
