Gwen and Ron's potential vow renewal

This coming March will be our second anniversary. Conveniently, if all goes according to plan, we have to attend another wedding in Las Vegas the exact same weekend as our anniversary.

There's a slight chance it won't happen since the bride just found out she has a thyroid cancer though. The treatment and cure rate for thyroid cancer is very high so we're hopeful that she'll be fine and happy by then. Fingers crossed. She just found out her diagnosis yesterday. Anyway, that's why it's potential. There's a possibility they might go ahead and get married later this month to just "get it over with", but I'm hoping they hold off since I'm refusing to believe she's going to be anything but fine. Positive thinking. :crossfingers:

Ron and I have discussed the idea of renewing our vows a few times, since we had really wanted to do an Elvis wedding but our parents would have :censored: bricks. So if we do go to this wedding in March, we'd be conveniently in Vegas for our anniversary weekend, which seems like a good time to slip away from the group to do a quick Elvis vow renewal.

Here are our options - I thought I'd poll the group to see which idea you like best.

1. The Las Vegas sign renewal with Elvis

When mom was being a pip about RC and I getting married. We informed her that we would be going to Vegas and get married by Elvis in the Drive-Thru, wearing our matching "What happens in Vegas is better in a Vette" t-shirts. Needless to say she was having a :cloppy:

I was torn between the sign and the pink caddy; the sign is more Vegas'y (the drive through is too, but not really personal to me, but if it is more for fun then I guess that doesn't matter as much) and the pink caddy is more Elvis'y, so I guess it depends on which you are going for more.

I voted for the pink caddy, just cause I like the idea of being inside better.

I love that you guys would do this though :)

my husband and I have discussed doing our vow renewal in vegas and wanted to the pink caddy! that sounds like so much fun! So i deffiantly voted the pink caddy! I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, my co-worker just found out her aunt has the same thing! I will keep your friend in my prayers.

I'm the odd ball and voted for Blue Hawaii...I think the pics would be cool of Elvis walking you down the aisle....lol....but really all options sound great!

On a side note, my mom was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2003 and had hers removed. The treatments of iodine radiation suck but they work and she is 100% in remission from it and has been for several years now. The only issue is that her doc has a hard time regulating the medication so that it continually works.

I'm torn between Pink Cadillac and Blue Hawaii, but voted Pink Cadillac. I looooove the fog and it looks great. However, being escorted down the aisle by 'Elvis'? Dreamy!

I think if I did an Elvis wedding, that's the only way my Mom would be okay with my eloping. I was raised on Elvis. My Mom just loves that man!!

I love the idea of the vow renewal in Vegas with Elvis. :heart: I cannot wait to see pictures.

Also, prayers for your friend. :flower: I love your positive attitude, and I hope in a few days when the news is no long a shock, she will feel the same way.

Glad to help! If you or your friend want any info just send me a pm or something. I'm not sure if it would be different in US vs Canada but at least it could help and provide some encouragement and that at least with the treatment my mom was on she didn't lose her hair or anything.

I love both Pink Cadillac and Blue Hawaii but I voted for Blue Hawaii cuz you can get walked down the isle by Elvis!!! The pink car and the fog is pretty darn cool also. A drive thru wedding would be pretty cool also.

Ron said that he doesn't care which we do, so I might just pick based on the poll results. Even if it doesn't end up happening in March, we will do it at some point, but I'm really hoping March works out!
