If you are having a themed wedding, give favors that reflect your theme. Like with a Christmas theme wedding, you might give Christmas ornaments as favors ... maybe even with your names and wedding date on them. Have your florist design your centerpieces like miniature trees and hang the ornaments on the centerpiece trees. Or as an alternative to the miniature tree centerpieces, just decorate one table with a tree-like arrangement to hang all your ornament favors on for your guests to take one.

Candy favors are a popular choice as well. Here are a couple of my favorite DIY ideas ... Use regular Hershey's Hugs and Kisses (buy in bulk at your local Sams, Costco, or BJ's) wrapped in tulle and tied with ribbon with a little tag that reads "Thanks for sharing our special day ... Hugs and Kisses, (bride & groom's name)" *A cute variation of this is to use a plastic spoon and put in 3 or 4 Kisses then wrap it in tulle and ribbon with a tag that reads "We thank you for coming with this spoonful of kisses, to bless our beginning as Mr & Mrs" *You can use ribbon with your name and wedding date printed on it for an added personalized touch.

Here is a unique idea. How about a wedding favor that is good for the environment too? Consider giving tree seedlings in little decorated tubes to your guests to plant. Maybe have a little poem along with it too "Take this home and plant with love and care; watch it grow and with it our love you'll share" Check out the Tree Store on the Arbor Day website (http://www.arborday.org/Shopping/Trees/Trees.cfm)

See, the favors are (I think) gonna be a problem for me. I have so many ideas and I see a lot on these wedding sites. I kinda want edibles, but want them to be different or packaged differently. I also want to order personalized guitar picks. I want a sorta-music-theme reception. I thought about using the line "In Perfect Harmony" (what do you think?). But I don't know what I would do with the picks. I don't really want to do CDs.

Any other ideas would be much appreciated. Thx!

Since we're having an autumn wedding, I really wanted to do saplings from the The National Arbor Day Foundation (http://www.arborday.org/shopping/gifttrees/weddings.cfm). But someone pointed out that it might be a huge hassle getting them back and forth through customs. Ok, fair enough.

So then I thought I might want to do seed packets, or paper favors with seeds embedded in them (so you just plant the favor) but my FMIL has already ordered all the supplies for sugared almond bags. So I might back off on that idea.

If anyone wants links to companies that do the seed packet favors or seed papers, let me know.

For our wedding favor we had his uncle make CD's with all of the wedding music ( our song, mine and my dads song, cake song, etc.) anf then we finished it with all of our favorite music. They we Silk screen labeled it with one of our engagement pictures.

I didn't really want to do CDs, I just have this thing about copying songs. But I might give in just this once lol.

I saw a picture in a magazine that used a cookie cutter filled with candy and wrapped in tulle. If I can find about 100 -150 music cookie cutters, I'd do this.

Or maybe if you know something that each guest likes, you could get a different cookie cutter for each person in a certain shape.

I plan on having a pink and black wedding in september of next year, and for my table at my reception I would like to have combinations of white/pink and black/pink tablecloths. I think black chinese take out boxes with engraving or some kind of stamp on pink lettering on it filled with some kind of pink candy, like m & m's or jelly beans or something sitting on all the tables would be perfect!! Does anybody have any idea where I could find black chinese take out boxes with engraving or stamping on them?? I have found black boxes, but I don't know what to do about the writing I want on them! Oh an all of these favors sound so nice, ecspecially the cookie cutter one (i think heart shaped ones would be cute!)

We are lazy. We gave money to a charity in honor of our guests. We then printed out little white cards with a pearl border that thanked everyone for attending and explained the donation and the charity along with the website for that charity. We got a lot of nice compliments on them.

This is one place where we are going to try to conserve our money. I have been thinking about just buying Hershey Kisses in silver or red and then putting about six inside of a round tulle and the tying it together with a red or silver ribbon. Maybe having two fake silver wedding bands hooked to the ribbon to add a little bit to the look. I thought that this is actually something that people will use and eat! I had thought about making cards with a cookie cutter dangling from the middle of it, like below but it was going to be too much money just to make them by hand and I wasn’t sure how many people would actually use the cookie cutter.

Ours isen't very unique, but we are getting personalized M&M's in white and red. We are going to buy the white ones from the on-line site and then buy regular M&M's to cut down on the costs. Around Christmas they sale red and green M&M's and we will just take the green ones out.

I looked up the price on personalized MnMs and they were like $45 for an 8oz bag and minimum order was 4 bags. That's not very many is it? Then I checked the price for plain ones and it was $49 for a 5lb bag.
